Cracktastic headcanon, let’s make this guy more alien:

(much inspired by the reminder from @corallapis that Turlough has traces of freaking uranium in his system, speaking of on crack, holy hannah, the King of Terror)

Ok, so said uranium is bio-locked in some sort of symbiotic microorganism. Think gut bacteria or intestinal flora for a human comparison, but system-wide.

Symbiotic bioluminescent organisms.

Healthy Trions glow faintly in the dark.

HEALTHY Trions. And it’s subtle, Trions pick up on it more than humans would, but it’s there.

Turlough is trapped in an uncanny valley world where people are literally ‘dim’.

And apparently ‘dimness’ is catching, especially when the temperature, climate, radiation, nutrition, and microbiological landscape are just WRONG.

So Deep Below was originally going to be something that took place during Frontios between the scene where we the audience first see the Tractators, and when Turlough has his freak out.

Turlough was going to get more and more creeped out by…something, with snippets of an old children’s rhyme coming to him, and Norna would go from a little annoyed to concerned.

I wound up back-burnering Deep Below, and used part of the rhyme I was working on in part 3 of ‘One Thing About Earth That Isn’t Completely Terrible’.

In both an official—the 2023? Annual—and “official until something broadcasted contradicts”—one of the River Song Big Finish audios—Turlough is stated to be a Royal as opposed to a Noble.

Turlough appeared onscreen in stock footage in the 15th Doctor episode “The Story and the Engine.” This era of the show being infamously partially funded by and streamed by Disney.

By the transitive property of narrative and fandom, Turlough is a Disney Princess.

I have no horse im the Five Costume discussion derby BUT every time he starts sitting on the ground on tv i start clutching at my chest mumbling you can't DO THAT you're wearing BEIGE its so LIGHT man the STAINS.... the Laundry of it all hurts.
