“It’s not any trouble,” He stood up properly, a brief gust of air brushing over him through the ally. “I mean if that’s your car there, then it’s no effort at all, pretty much.” Since she, like most all other females, were indeed women, he only assumed that what was in the bag was clothes, and he felt a little sexist for thinking that and mentally smacked himself.

“I’m sure you’re more than capable, but I’ve got to know what you did to scare those guys off like that.”

This guy was more observant than most humans, she’d have to think of something quick. “I don’t know. May be, I’m just a scary person,” she laughed airily. “Really all I did was glare at them and got ready to kick their butts if I had to.”

“Disappearances? Doesn’t that happen a lot in cities,” Bella said walking. The last time there were disappearances that she knew about in a city was Seattle when Victoria had created a newborn army to come and destroy her, but that was back when she was with Edward. She was a free agent now.

“No, certainly not in Metropolis either, there hasn’t been a real kidnapping case here in many years.” People ran away and others thought it was kidnapping, and there were more than a couple really strange cases of it at that. “Where’d you park?” He reached for her bag, with hopes of carrying it for her to her car.

“Bella,” she said introducing herself curtly. “No, that won’t be necessary. I’m fine. Really.”

“If you say so Miss.” He was a little worried that she might have been in shock from being attack, “Where are you headed? I’ll walk with you there to make sure you don’t get overwhelmed by those guys and their friends, if they decided to try again.”

They ran for it screaming that was the last time they’d try to rob someone again. By time she turned to the man that interrupted her dealing with the two muggers, Bella’s eyes turned back to their original honey color. 

“Thanks for the offer though, Mr.?” Bella told him, she didn’t know his name.

Was she trying to be scary? Because honestly, a girl of her height and small size, he felt like he should pat her on the head and it would de-ruffle her feathers. She must have been alerted or frightened on some level though, her eyes were incredibly dilated for a moment that he’d seen. 

“Mr. Kent, Clark Kent, Reporter of the Daily Planet. Ma’am if you wish I can escort you to the police station where you can fill out a report on your attackers.” He really should have gone and tracked them down to turn them in himself, but she’d been looking at him since he’d shown up, it would instantly blow his cover.

As soon as Jake came into the house Bella ran to him and flung herself at him, hugging him fiercely. “Jake!” she said happily. “You’re here.” Charlie who was sitting on the couch watching the game glanced over at the two of them. He seemed rather happy at their interaction. “We should get out of here before he comes back,” she whispered. “Edward is likely to start a fight and if he does… I don’t think things will turn out too great.” She glanced over at Charlie. Her father would probably try to shoot him, he was still rather furious at him for leaving Bella the way he did.

“I’m here, I’m here.” Jacob said, hugging her back. He nodded at her comment about him. “Good idea.” He whispered before turning to Charlie. “We’re gonna head to the rez. Bonfire.” He said with a smile, turning back to Bella. “Ready?”

“Bonfire? Really? You guys got any marshmallows?” Bella giggled. She grabbed her jacket off the hook next to the door. “Okay, I’m ready.” She followed him out the door. Sure enough, her worst fear came true. There was Edward as if right on cue. He flitted in front of them, his face full of furry.

“Bella, you can’t go. Do you have any idea how dangerous a young wolf can be?” he said glaring at Jacob. “I got worried when Alice called and said your future disappeared.”

“Edward, I’m going with Jacob,” Bella stated flatly. “He’s my best friend and I know he’d never harm me in anyway.” Edward glared and growled at Jacob.

Bella shivered, the rain was cold. She leaned into Jacob to gather some source of heat as they walked back to his house. Bella had spent a lot of time with him since the Cullen’s left town. Jake seemed to be the only person to patch up her heart. As she leaned in she felt more than warmth, Bella had to urge to kiss Jacob. She couldn’t find the words to tell him how she felt, so that was the only way she could think about showing him how much he meant to her. 

She locked eyes with him, before leaning in and kissing his lips. Pouring every feeling she had into the kiss. As they kissed she suddenly wasn’t cold any more.

Bella bit her lip looking at Jacob, she felt a lot happier after kissing him. She could still taste him on her lips and it made her want more. Bella grinned shyly at Jake. “I should have don’t that awhile ago,” she said softly.

Jacob smirked at her words. “I couldn’t agree more.” He was so incredibly relieved that she felt the same way he did.

She leaned her head against his massive sculpted chest. “I wonder what Charlie is going to say?” she mused. Knowing him he’d probably be tickled pink that she had chosen to be with Jacob. He absolutely loathed Edward after doing what he did, but so did she. “Jake?... Do you tink you can stay at the house for a while or I could stay at your place? Just until dad gets back. He’s going to be gone for the weekend. I don’t really want to be alone... especially with... with...” She really didn’t want to say her name, but the thought of Victoria still out there frightened her.

Bella stared at Jacob, then rolled her eyes. She crawled back into bed and cuddled against his warm body. “I was just hungry,” she said playfully pouting at him.

Bella eventually got out of bed and follow him into the kitchen wrapped in his bed sheet. When she finally went to the kitchen Jacob was already cooking. Luckily, Billy left earlier to go see Charlie and watch the game or she would be fifty shades of red by now. She kissed Jake’s cheek. “Smells good,” Bella told him with a grin.
