Composite Materials, Cementitious, Aggregates.
Find new ways of using cementitious materials and exploring new ways of chemically processing aggregates to create structurally intelligent, possibly bio-designed structures.
Develop new ways to use traditional concrete by developing new techniques, construction methods (3D, 4D printing, etc) and processing that will allow it to work in new ways or have new properties, such as transparency, lightness, weather/water/energy porosity, elasticity, malleability, color or changing structural capabilities: tension, etc.
Find energy related applications to traditional aggregates that are apparently inert but under specific adaptations can provide energy back or responsiveness like not rockite materials. This can also have an application for developing self-healing cementitious materials that again break the inert quality framework that we think of when using cementitious materials.
Find ways to have GFRC be responsive to use, weather with time and develop molding systems or construction methods that change the way we use the material indoors/outdoors, permeability, etc.
Break the envelope and find new ways, using new technologies, to flip the traditional use of these materials in architecture and find new, more contemporary uses for them that relate better to the new technologies we have at our disposal today.
Other examples of this include, conductivity properties in rockites, actively absorbing energy concrete, etc.
