NFL - Week2 - Observations
After week-2, here are the standings of few teams:
Seahawks: the NFC rep in the last two super bowls: 0-2
Ravens: the perennial contender and 2013 Champions: 0-2
Saints: known for their high octane offense and 2010 Champions: 0-2
Eagles: Chip kelly and his lightning offense: 0-2
Seahawks, Ravens, Saints & Eagles â with a combined 0-8 after two weeks. Thats something not even Nate Silver could have predicted.
Now, on to other observations:
Injury of the week (perhaps the season): Tony Romo breaking the same clavicle on the same shoulder. Out atleast 6-8 weeks.
49ers @ Steelers: the Niners came back to earth. Brutal schedule to continue for the Niners
Texans @ Panthers: As bad as the Texans played, they had a chance at the end. However, with Ryan Mallet at QB, it did not matter. It has been more than 15 years since the Texans got added to NFL, they are yet to solve the QB problem
Buccaneers @ Saints: Saints are at home facing a Bucs team that made Mariota look like Montana in week-1. They canât seem to run the ball or hang on to it. Playing defense is optional under Rob Ryanâs scheme. Why would they trade Jimmy Graham away? Why?
Lions @ Vikings: Not a high flying performance but a very efficient one by the Vikings. Adrian Petersen did his part. Lions are 0-2 with both losses coming on the road. However, news gets worse with the Broncos visiting them next week. Peyton Manning playing in the dome. Good luck with that.
Cardinals @ Bears: Cardinals was dominating on all sides of the game. Offense, defense and Special teams were as efficient as they can be. I thought Larry Fitzgerald was old. Nope â I could not be more wrong.
Patriots @ Bills: So much for fearless prediction :-(. Rex Ryan and his team can do a world of good if they could shut their holes and just play the game. Finish it and then talk. A comprehensive whooping by the Pats on a sunny day. Why would the Bills fans/Org provide any fodder/motivation to a BelliChick coached team?
Chargers @ Bengals: One of the closest games of the day. No need for any one to hang their heads down on this one.
Titans @ Browns: Mariota came back to earth as well. Manziel made big plays on the run and this was the difference in the game
Falcons @ Giants: Giants are adding to their injuries. Falcons coming back again on the 4th quarter to go 2-0 and it seems this is their division to loose. Matty to Jones getting to Brady to Gronk range.
Rams @ Redskins: I picked the Rams as my defense in my DraftKings league. I am feel sad, very sad now. How a team that stifles the Seahawks in week-1 and come out flat against a Redskins team? How?
Dolphins @ Jaguars: Finally, Blake Bortles played like a first round pick. Finally. Some great catches by his receivers. Great catches win matches.
Ravens @ Raiders: this yearâs Ravens team is not like any team we know of. Raiders should feel good about themselves â especially the way they won the game with a touchdown drive. Usually, they FIND a way to loose these games. Hope and Optimism are good traits to have and it seems in Carr they believe.
Cowboys @ Eagles: Eagles lost the game. Cowboys lost Romo. Both camps cannot be happy right now. I expect the Cowboys to rally around Weeden and the defense to step up
Seahawks @ Packers: Even though the Seahawks are 0-2, they did not play as bad as their record suggest. Both games on the road against well playing teams
