“Of course I can get that for you, the question is, what are you willing to give me in return?”
“I didn’t even ask you for anything.”

“Of course I can get that for you, the question is, what are you willing to give me in return?”
“I didn’t even ask you for anything.”
“Astronomy,” she replied. As much as she loved the subject, studying and practicing it outside of a school environment was possibly better. Charlotte had even considered applying for a teaching position at Beauxbatons if they were looking for a new Astronomy teacher, but for now her heart was leading her to teaching. “Do you love teaching?”
“I teach charms,” Nathaniel replied, even though she didn’t ask. He’d never been too keen on astronomy but didn’t comment on the fact. He didn’t have to think before answering, “Yes. I mean, I hate the low pay and that one kid who never stops talking and the other that always causes trouble but at the end of the day, I’m helping these kids one day have a better life. It’s what gets me through all the parts I don’t like.”
“Whatever you’re having, bud.”
Nathaniel turned to the bartender, “Two scotch on the rocks please.”
“This is beyond ridiculous– and it’s also the reason I never took that job offer to teach at Hogwarts. I don’t care about how much companies care about the money they make. A children’s education should be put before all that. We want to shape the future, not tear it from their hands if they can’t pay the price.”
“You were offered a teaching position? Which subject?” Nathaniel had nothing else to say on the subject so he thought changing it a little would keep the conversation going. It was the most interesting one he’d had all week.
“Because I’m your brother and you know where I live.”
“Fair enough. What do you want?”
“Oh, yeah!” She exclaimed, “We were in the same year at Hogwarts, I think- but not in the same House.”
“I think you might have been a few years below actually.”
“Not a problem, I didn’t exactly say excuse me, either. So I’m partially to blame as well.”
“You make a fair point. I guess we’re both to blame.”
“I just had a few things I needed help carrying, but I think I’ll be alright unless you absolutely want to risk breaking your back.”Â
“I think I can handle a little heavy lifting.”
“Well you know how terrible of a listener I am– c’mon, you pay this round and I’ve got the next.”
“You don’t have to tell me twice about that,” Nathaniel replied with a roll of his eyes, “How do I know that you’ll actually pay.”
“Well I mean, come on– you can’t possibly believe putting the price of textbooks up is a good idea? Especially since some students already struggle to get the materials needed for the school year. If you don’t speak up about being against it, you’re just being a moron and you’re putting the education of some students at risk.”
“I don’t get any say. I spoke up about it every year for the first three years of my teaching career. It doesn’t do any good. They don’t want to have to deal with changes in book stores and school boards and all that. It’s too much work for them.”
“Yeah, could you grab the door for me, this buggy is a bloody piss take when you try to nagivate through doors alone.”
Nathaniel smiled tightly, “Yea, sure,” He opened the door and waited for the young woman to walk through.
“No. You’re just in my way.”
“Oh, right. My apologies,” Nathaniel stepped out of her way.
“No, I’m sorry. You must be mistaken.”
“Oh. My apologies.”
“No, sorry, you just looked familiar… What’s your name?”
“Nathaniel Ansell.”
“Buy you a drink? Nah, I’ll pass.”
“I was offering to buy you one but I guess I’m drinking on my own.”
“Everyone’s entitled to be stupid sometimes but you are abusing the privilege.”
“I beg your pardon.”
“Sorry, did you need my help with something?”
