genuinely sorry to have to keep posting stuff like this, i hate doing this enough as it is, but. because of some sudden bills regarding my roommate's medical incident at the start of the month, we are now $160 short on rent for this month. found out about that half an hour ago. that and he isnt being allowed to work for another month so we need some way to scrounge up that rent. overall this is about $910.

i could also make an entire post about the sheer disrespect this side of the community has for artists in the fandom but especially outside of it, how freelance comic writers/illustrators are blamed for every little thing wrong with the franchise, but i genuinely think i'd hit some kind of word limit if i did so

after almost a year on sonictwt i have concluded that the one thing i dislike the Most about it is that everything, everything has to be ideological. you can't just have a preference for the english scripts over the japanese. you can't just have an issue with ian flynn's writing or evan stanley's art. you can't just like the story of 06 or think forces or lost world would've been great with some tweaks you can't just have an opinion it has to be tied to the very integrity of sonic and You As A Fan. if you dare to suggest that this stuff isn't that serious you get screamed at about how you just don't understand and you're an undignified slop eater who'll take any low-quality garbage if it has your blorbo on it. if you were happy to see the late greg martin's art be represented on sonic's social media you're a larper personally spitting in naoto oshima's face. (and that's just when you're not called slurs. my god the things i've been called just for suggesting that it's a little disrespectful to draw over the rouge sonic channel art no matter how much you dislike the censoring of her)

there's a desperation for validation mixed with the hidden disappointment at the fact that the pg-13 feeling of the adventure games didn't last past the y2k years. a deep seated fear of sonic being a joke again that transcends into anything not considered your Ideal Sonic being met with revulsion. you aren't a true fan if you're not scouring sonic comic previews for something to pick apart so you can reaffirm that everything you don't like is destroying the franchise itself

i just don't relate to that. i love sonic with all my heart but that doesn't mean i exist in this permanent maelstrom of criticism and doomposting and never being able to just. have fun. of course things could be better with writing and how sega handles things but these people genuinely treat it like life and death. and some people do it just because they're bored and have no one to talk to

my experience hasn't been entirely miserable (the lanolin fans on here are so cool and ugh the shadow/lanolin art brightens up my day) but i also got into some drama just because i told someone that making a short bus joke isn't cool

Shadolin is SO GOOD OMG!!!

They're both so serious and brooding and they would absolutely understand each other! At first they naturally gravitate to each other just out of generally being less involved with the wacky antics of the colourful bunch surrounding them. Lanolin feels safer around Shadow than anyone else cause he's the one person where she doesn't have to spend mental effort trying to match other people's higher energy. Like the two introverts at a party who slowwwly gradually become more comfortable around, and warm up to, each other. They could bond over bitching about whatever dumb reckless thing Sonic did this time, and I think that Shadow treats love very seriously, like he does everything else, so he would be SUPER dedicated to Lanolin once the relationship developed. I don't think Lano has ever has anyone prioritize her so strongly, so she may be taken aback at first, she might even be suspicious or think he's up to something, but if they can navigate that potentially rocky interaction I think they would come out of it completely ride-or-die for each other.

I picture them as the quiet couple who's always very physically close when in public but quite subdued, no big dramatic PDA but often holding hands or leaning against each other. Whispering inside jokes to each other, not laughing out loud but giving a quiet smirk, in fact overall I imagine their gestures and interactions would outwardly appear to be very small and subtle, but they both understand how much each seemingly minor gesture or expression really means from each other.

GAAAHH I'm getting myself emotional thinking about their dynamic lol. I wish there was more Shadolin art cause it's such a good shipppppp!

hi, im reblogging this now because of a situation that happened yesterday. our roommate ended up injuring his hand to the point that it's in splints right now, and hes going to be out of commission for 3 weeks according to the hospital. unfortunately that means a lack of rent money when both me and my *other* roommate are now struggling with making ends meet while our workplaces keep cutting hours. rent per person is about $750.

i hate to be asking this once again but literally anything will help right now. it's all going to be going to rent for next month, and anything outside of that may help with paying the internet. thank you.
