Currently on break for making any analysis on Nikolai atp. So to have something to post, here's Nikolai and Fyodor getting married in Tomodachi life
Lilia's "Love" for Meleanor and Levan
Word's been spreading around that Lilia is explicitly "in love" with both Meleanor and Levan at some point. I'd like to clear up that this is NOT logically true, and is just pushed to the extreme by shippers.
He does LOVE them, but not necessarily in a romantic or sexual way. The kanji Meleanor uses during her spiel is 愛, which is the broader term for love and is used in the purest of ways; meaning it can mean cherishing your friends, family, or whatever is important to you.
The three good fairies also used this term for the spell on Silver, saying whoever LOVES Silver from the bottom of their heart will break the curse. So, if you believe that Meleanor using 愛 explicitly means Lilia is in love with them in a "wants to have sex with them" way, does that mean (apologies for this statement) Lilia wants to have sex with Silver?
It is true, however, that Lilia told Meleanor that he would marry her. But that was when they were around 100 years old, which is more or less 10 in human. You may or may not consider that as siblings playing house. Meleanor also teases that the time Lilia and Levan spent together as her right and left-hand generals was more time than she spent married to Levan. She says this to emphasize that they are good friends, if not best friends, and that Lilia would of course naturally love Levan, whichever way love may manifest in his heart.
Now, this also doesn't necessarily mean that Lilia IS NOT in love with them. The theme of this chapter is simply "Love"; be it romantic, platonic, or familial. It's up to the reader what they WANT to believe. It's neither right nor wrong, so saying that Lilia really wants to fuck Meleanor and/or Levan is simply incorrect.
Now I legitimately don't care about Lilia's love life as I'm only interested in Malleus, but resharing this for anyone curious about this whole thing and want the reality of it outside a shipper's POV.
The kanji used is 愛, which as I've said is the purest form of love. It's also considered selfless love and that's why it's pure, whereas the more romantic or sexual terms for love are 恋愛 (Ren'ai) for romantic love, or simply 恋 (Koi). This also has the connotation of "wanting", which is why it's more used in sexual contexts.
In short, it's emphasized that Lilia's love for Raverne and Maleanor is pure. Whether you consider that as being bisexual or even asexual is completely fine, just that he simply loves them.
bro why are you so horse
I hc that Nikolai speaks a lot of languages, and keeps learning them because he doesn't want to be bound by not understanding something
As they say: the limits of my language mean the limits of my world, so he just wants to speak as many languages as possible
currently missing fyodor's early appearance

Bungou Stray Dogs does not follow our timeline! Its an entirely separate universe. So the question "what year is BSD set in?" doesn't have an answer.
This is one of the most common questions I've seen about bsd, "What year is it set in?" or people saying stuff like "Why do the guild dress so old timey?" or "Why do the characters have flip phones but such advanced technology?" etc...
And the truth is, the series is set in a completely different world then ours, some series like Jujutsu Kaisen or Harry Potter are set in our world, and (mostly) follow our history. But the BSD universe is just fundamentally different, There was a war, heavily modelled after world war 1, less than 20 years before the present. There are loads of references to huge political events that simply didn't happen. in fact, it seems like the technology of bsd is many decades ahead of its politics. For instance, the Guild all being dressed like great depression era Americans fits if you consider that the great depression happened just after ww1 IRL.
Another difference is that In BSD Europe is described as the centre of global power instead of America, which might be explained by Dazai saying Europe has a high number of powerful skill users.
Maybe Abilities accelerated the growth of technology, they probably also changed the balance of politics.
What im saying is there is so much different in the bsd universe, that trying to match the story to a real life year or time period will never work, its like trying to find out what kind of wood a rock is made of, they have similarities but are just fundamentally different.
Actually, I'd argue that Bungou Stray Dogs is set in a timeline that very much parallels our own!
You're not wrong that Bungou Stray Dogs is its own timeline, but there are actually WAY more indicators of period inspiration than only World War I and closer connections between Bugnou Stray Dogs' timeline with ours. Rather than a completely separate world, Bungou Stray Dogs seems to be set in an alternative timeline in which the existence of skill users dramatically changed the global geopolitical landscape. And I know that because it's actually possible to roughly, and with several exceptions, trace the current Bungou Stray Dogs timeline to the 1930s. (Hence the Guild being dressed like 1930s Americans!)
The older characters in Bungou Stray Dogs are based on Meiji-era authors (namely Natsume, Fukuzawa, Mori, and Hirotsu). The Meiji era of Japanese history extended from October 23, 1868, to July 30, 1912, and was characterized by Japan shifting from isolationist feudalism to modernization and industrialization based on Western scientific, technological, philosophical, political, legal, and aesthetic ideas. (Otherwise, Japan was at risk of colonization by Western powers; it was a transition undertaken under duress.) That's why Fukuzawa is aesthetically a rōnin (the actual Fukuzawa was born in 1833, decades prior to the Meiji era), why Mori rattles off Western foreign political strategies with which Fukuzawa is unfamiliar (the actual Mori was born just six years prior to the Meiji-era), and, most importantly, why Yokohama is sometimes referred to as the Yokohama Settlement, and why it is implied that there are national powers in Yokohama. (For example, in 55 Minutes, an antagonist declares, "If the Yokohama Settlement and the various nations' military parties within it are wiped off the face of the earth, there will be no way for their governments to hide the truth.")
The Yokohama Settlement was established in 1858, through treaties with the US, England, France, Russia, and the Netherlands that opened several cities and five ports to those Western powers. Although the treaties were abolished in 1899, the influence of those treaties appears to persist in Bungou Stray Dogs' current timeline, implying that they did exist, but perhaps not with those specific powers, and perhaps not within the same time frame. (This is further supported when Chuuya debuts in the story's current timeline; he mentions to Dazai that he had only just gotten back from quashing trouble in the West, which may be referencing the western section of the Yokohama Settlement.)
The younger characters (such as Chuuya, Dazai, Atsushi, Kunikida, Ango, etc.) were all part of literary and poetry scenes characterized by the impacts of World War I and World War II on Japan. Although their ages relative to each other and the older characters are NOT the same as their real-life namesakes, they roughly correlate with the generational differences cultivated by Japan's transitions from feudalism to industrialization to post-World War I.
Further, World War I was called the Great War, which is also what Bungou Stray Dogs calls the ability-based war that transpired 15 years prior to the current canon timeline. Like the real-life authors, the Bungou Stray Dogs characters are consistently and constantly grappling with the impacts of the Great War, which created orphans (like Atsushi and Akutagawa), traumatized soldiers (like Mimic and Fukuchi), advanced and unprecedentedly destructive methods of warfare (in WWI, it was chemical warfare, in BSD, it's ability-users), and which prompted multinational treaties and organizations that sought to prevent such devastation from happening again (Standard Island in 55 Minutes; in the manga and anime, it's implied the United Nations exists, although the logo is just slightly different from the real-life United Nations, which was not formed until after World War II).
As you've pointed out, there are still SEVERAL differences between the real-world and Bungou Stray Dogs' timelines. Many of these can be explained by the existence of skill users, such as the mixed technology in the series, which ranges from the 1980s to the current day. Others are analogs, such as Verlaine and Chuuya, who were both created in response to the Great War, such as how WWI rewrote how wars and war technology were approached. Others are less easily explained by anything other than the butterfly effect, such as the seeming continuation of Japan's port treaties and, as mentioned above, how instead of the League of Nations, the aftermath of the Great War in Bungou Stray Dogs led to the creation of the United Nations, decades before the United Nations formed in our timeline. Further, in Bungou Stray Dogs, France, Germany, and Japan were allied in the Great War, with Japan withdrawing early due to Fukuzawa's intervention (France and Japan were allied against Germany in WWI). The most inexplicable difference is that one of the Western foreign policy strategists cited by Mori is Henry Kissinger, who was only a child in the 1930s. So on, and so forth.
However, that it parallels our timeline explains exactly what you've noted above, which is the reason why Europe is the center of geopolitical power. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, that was still very true, especially in the aftermath of World War I (and which would continue to be true if Europe had powerful ability users). It also explains why the most powerful ability user group, the Order of the Clock Tower, serves as the Queen of England's personal guard-- while the monarchy isn't Britain's head of government now, it was in the early 1900s. It also adds context to Season 5, Episode 61 of the anime, in which Fukuchi reveals that his actions were spurred by his learning that there would be another global war, one much more destructive and violent than the prior. In other words, Fukuchi sought to prevent the Bungou Stray Dogs' version of World War II.
And so while you're right that Bungou Stray Dogs exists in its own timeline, it's not fundamentally different from ours, and in fact, follows the same patterns and themes that the real-life character namesakes explored in their bodies of work. Following the logic of Bungou Stray Dogs existing in an alternate but parallel timeline, it roughly takes place in the early- to mid-1930s. However, it's a version of the 1930s in which skill users exist and have existed for long enough for their skills to shape the course of human history. Thus, the timeline in Bungou Stray Dogs is a sandbox of alternative history that nevertheless honors the ideas, traumas, and eras of the authors whose lives and literary works inspired the series.
That being said, it's a fictional universe subject to the author's purposes, so nothing is certain unless indicated by Kafka Asagiri. But understanding the historical parallels certainly explains a lot, and provides a nifty guide for understanding the underlying literary references.

Dehumanization and Death: how to kill off your characters development in the grand finale (A analysis on the writing for bsd and crk)
Spoiler warning for chapter 129 of bsd and crk
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
Before we start, please consider reading my note:
This is an analysis on Fyodor from Bungo stray dogs, Dark enchantress cookie and Shadow milk cookie from crk. My intentions to this analysis is to give a brief rundown on the writing I have seen from both of the fandoms I'm in and how this can affect the future of writing as a whole and how characters are presented to be written as. If you are a fan of bsd or crk and like the arc's, do not consider this as a hate post. This goes out to those who hate bsd and crk for the sake of it. I'm here to give my thoughts and predictions of act 2 of Arena of truth and deceit part 1 of crk. As I am writing this, it is May 8th, 2026, After the release of Timekepper cookie. Please take this analysis into consideration as just someone who likes crk and bsd either way even for its flaws and wishes the best for the story to exceed well. Thank you to whoever read this note before my analysis, it means a lot.

Part 1: Fyodor's character development
-
In Chapter 129 of the ending of the airport arc, we are shown of fyodor's defeat; his death. Throughout the events of the airport arc, he established the capability of the book and his intentions to it for his idea of a better world. The pacing is slow, but gives us, the audience, the length and desperation on fyodor's idea for no ability users in their world.
We have to consider why he does this first. A common question is "why would he go to such length for the annihilation of ability users if he is one as well?" Fyodor doesn't consider himself as human, a very close connection to Dazai himself (especially linked to his pm days). He sees himself as a nuisance since he's in that same category of ability users, especially the ones he speaks of who use their abilities for their own gain and selfish desires. Clearly ironic to chapter 128-129 when he tried to escape the airport with his reincarnation ability.
A big misconception to fyodor (and dark enchantress, who I'll get into with her character development and her parallel to fyodor) is he has a god complex. Instead, he has a savior complex. He believes what he's doing is the right way, and the only right way. He believes that the only way for everyone to feel equal for the sake of humanity is for ability users to not exist, or to the very least not hurt the common people in Yokohama.
One other misconception is his last words at the end in chapter 129. I've seen some say Asagiri made him one dimension and purely evil with his last words. While I do agree that the way Fyodor's character development was not handled properly, there is a lot more to his words that we give credit to. In the translation, he says "It's simple... I hate you all." Which conveys his final moment. Previously, the characters ask who he is, showing clear dehumanization to fyodor. Atsushi's word is "What is in your heart, fyodor?" While dehumanizing, he still clearly sees fyodor as a person but not human, even to some extent. In my perspective, Atsushi doesn't understand why Fyodor would go to such lengths for a better world, yet he still wants to understand even when Fyodor is on the verge of death. He believes fyodor was driven by simple impulses, with fyodor's line saying "You believe it was my heart's doing?" We are shown exhaustion in Fyodor's eyes from all of the events that have happened, especially the affect his ability must've had on him. While I may be making assumptions, it must be extremely brutal and torturing having to be reincarnated many times. Feeling flesh that is not your own to be torn completely as you bathe in nudity and contempt. Fyodor is given the worst form of reincarnation I've seen in fiction in such a brutal fashion. Not to mention he's a very empathetic character despite his actions of using those for his own gain. When I say empathy, I say he understands the lengths of others, especially ability users. Yet, they don't return the empathy to him. It ties back to his loneliness as well and comes to accept that. The scene with him and atsushi really shows how humans have a hard time understanding other humans who do heinous acts because we have a perspective on what is good and evil, black vs white, compassion vs revenge, and so on.
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
At the end of chapter 129, his death, he is still dehumanized from the cast. To an extent from Dazai himself. Ironic from someone who used to not see himself as human back then is dehumanizing someone who parallels him to the extreme. (Do excuse the poorly screenshot of the manga panel)
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
This is where the complaint of how fyodor's character was handled. Fyodor died knowing his plan did not succeed. As I established how his line can be conveyed differently rather than in a black and white perspective, this is still not a good execution to end his character. While I say it is far better than Dark enchantress's character development, it still has some flaws. The airport arc was dragged to hell and back while being stuck in one specific spot, we did get to see fyodor's knowledge of the book yet not understand why he would go to this extreme length to do this, especially summoning amen no gozen. As a friend of mine mentioned as well, she asked why fyodor would frame the ada if he could've find an alternative way to get amen no gozen than do a different way.
In the very end, he was killed by the thing he was fighting against: Ability users. The people he wanted to be rid of from the world of Bungo stray dogs came together and opposed Fyodor's way of a perfect world. Even fyodor to an Ability user in his death (aka Fukuchi.)
I do wish it was handled differently and given a different alternative action to the situation and the events of the airport arc.
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
Part 2: Dark enchantress's character and how to kill your main villain
-
This one I have a lot of thoughts on. Firstly, I want to compare the very close similarities to Fyodor and Dark enchantress cookie:
Savior complex.
Fyodor's motive is wanting a world without ability users, or a world where ability users cannot hurt others. He believes this is the right way to create a better world and believes he's doing it for the suffering of ability users and himself, which I find ironic because his ability is the act of suffering for many years and the feeling of torture and taking away someone's autonomy from his ability.
Dark enchantress on the other hand, believes she too, is doing the right thing for cookie-kind in the name of freedom. Albeit, in an extreme way compared to White Lily's idea of freedom, just twisted into a dark form. She believes all cookie's souls and their suffering is combined into one being, bypassing the path they are meant to live as cookies; to be eaten by their creators. It ties back to the Avatar of Destiny that is an amalgamation of cookie's souls all smashed into one entity of shared suffering from their downfall of their fates.
The difference between them is done by one thing and it's how their character development ends and executed.
For Fyodor, despite his lackluster death, he learned in the end that he cannot convert ability users to his ideologies of a better world. Coming to the conclusion that neither him, ability users, and humanity can co-exist. While a mediocre ending for his character, he at least learned why him and ability users disagree on a certain level and why they don't agree with his idea of a better world. He didn't have to understand why he was wrong because he was right about ability users who use their powers for their own needs. Take Francis or Akutagawa in the early stages of the manga, or Nikolai's ability to frame the ada and use his ability to his idea of freedom (for nikolai fans here's your one mention of Nikolai in this analysis. I couldn't contain myself from not mentioning him). However, Ability users came together and used their abilities to oppose fyodor. While right in some uses back then, it's ironic how as he bleeds out, the thing he was fighting against ended up biting him in the end.
For dark enchantress, however, she did not learn anything even up to her death. As she is dying, she cries on how could her plan have possibly failed? She did not learn why cookie's did not choose her idea of freedom and oppose her. She did not learn why she was wrong or how her actions affected others.
Another parallel I would like to note is how their death can be perceived:
Dying to the thing you were fighting against.
Both Fyodor and Dark enchantress were killed or defeated by the thing they were opposing, that being their own people.
While they both died having mediocre endings, one died being dehumanized and ultimately killed from the thing he was fighting against, while the other died not understanding what killed them in the first place.

Part 3: The cycle repeats; predictions on Shadow milk's downfall
-
So far as Act 2 part 1 has shown, shadow milk seems to have a huge crisis in himself with taking a portion of the ultimate dough in him and the last life essence of the other beast (besides silent salt) as he says in Act 1 of the finale of the Dark enchantress arc.
A huge plot hole in the story with him and the beast during the war was the beast (besides Silent Salt) were already dead and shadow milk was seconds away from dying as well. In a matter of time, he somehow got out of the shackles that Silent Salt had on him, got his way to the oven without other cookies (especially Dark enchantress, the ancient heroes, or Silent Salt himself) from knowing, able to escape the oven without the ultimate dough consuming him whole as they tried before forcible with Gingerbrave, and even able to regain energy without showing side effects until act 2. Not to mention how he even got some life essence of the beast when they were already dead beforehand.
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
Very inconsistent and a huge plot convenience to Shadow milk alone. Might even say he has way more plot armor than Nikolai himself when he didn't get caught in the surveillance cameras in the prison during the beginning parts of the merusault arc.
As of the release of Act 2 part 1 of the story, shadow milk has been getting worse and worse as the arc continues and has not shown any other elements of character development to be established.
I would even say his motive is very underdeveloped. His motive is to destroy all timelines besides his own, which while can tie to his self ego and attention seeking center, we were not given any more of his reasoning besides being pissy at Silent Salt from sealing them away. He doesn't hold any grudges from the other beasts, dark enchantress, the ancient's (although he does hold some grudge on pv and wl but nobody else) or any of the main cast like Gingerbrave. It's also never mentioned of his trauma with the common cookie's from his past wanting more out of him. Their consumption and gluttonous need for answers and anger when it's not what they think it is. Shown of complete incomprehensibility of cookies wanting an answer to satisfy their beliefs, rather than complete truth. If we were given more explanation for shadow milk's motive outside of pettiness for Silent Salt, I would understand as the audience why he would go to such lengths to destroy all timelines except his own, especially if we are given how his trauma made him act out instead of the ultimate dough and the other beast being inside him all at once, which complicates more issues of his reasoning. We as the audience now don't know if it's shadow milk speaking or somebody else inside him speaking.
These are clear signs of characters having their character development potentially ruined:
1. Their reasoning is to an extreme length that does not add up to their motivation
2. It does not tie to their background or character as a whole (i.e backstory, or their character in general (in this case fyodor since he does not have a backstory)
And in most cases, as shown from dark enchantress and Fyodor, there are two predictions I have with how shadow milk's character will likely end up resulting.
1. The fyodor effect.
Shadow milk will likely have some good elements to his character development, but will be killed off before they are established and be dehumanized by the cast for his actions. Never looking back to his backstory as his reasoning in why he did what he did, although with the lack of his backstory being his motive to what he does, he'll likely die knowing he had some levels of being wrong but never mentioned from the cast themselves.
Or two;
2. The Dark enchantress cookie effect.
Shadow milk will likely have the same situation as Dark enchantress. He'll die not knowing what he did wrong or never coming to the conclusion that his actions were wrong, dying from only knowing he failed to do what he wanted to do. If we wanted to put salt in the wound, he will likely die to the thing he was fighting against; the common cookie's.
If you want to worsen it, give him the president snow death (from the hunger games) where he's killed by the people he feared or against: the district and capital. (However this is very unlikely but probably only ever happen for pity points)
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
In conclusion, The writing in both Dark enchantress and Fyodor are similar and end up dying to similar fates in their story. They are just handled a lot differently and executed differently, though I personally think fyodor's was executed better in comparison to Dark enchantress. While the patterns from what I list are very vague, it should give a small hint at what to notice in a writing standpoint when writing an antagonist or reading an antagonist's background for their motivation if they are central to the plot.
My only hope for Shadow milk as a character is for him to break out of this cycle of writing and get a well executed character development, even with the lack of elements from the list. There is still potentially his character that shouldn't fall into the Fyodor and Dark enchantress effect as mentioned. I want to be wrong about what Shadow milk's character will likely be in the near future, and I hope I am wrong. But from the noticeable signs from him in the recent update, it's starting to take effect on him and his character development.
Thank you for reading my analysis. Please take it into consideration as a fan of crk and bsd and criticism of the writing of the story. This is not to hate on Asagiri nor Devsisters, this is simply criticism of their writing and execution of their characters development.
The Stray Dog Games: BSD Hunger games au
-------------------------------------------
The pale silver texture of the design reflected on itself restlessly. A light purple coat was wrapped around me as it click itself together, covering central parts of my shoulder and chest.
The hood of the coat brushed against the length of my hair and back. Weighing my body In gently caresses.
"From the looks of it, itself likely wet lands or a cold environment." Dazai brushed off the tiny wrinkles of the small coat.
The fabric of the coat softens under my finger tips, the easing warmth reminding me of the bed sheets Fyodor gave me when I first entered the Port.
Not the best memory, but still.
"Hey,"
I felt the cold sensation of finger tips clashing my heated face. Dazai's eyes were like a somber rain. Drench in something I've never seen. A quiet smile rest on his lips.
"I know you're scared, but you have the advantage." His gaze almost hurts me, flaring the already temptation to cry.
"I don't want to die, Dazai."
I gripped the coat around my chest. The gentle hand rubbed my shoulder, trying desperately to erase the tightness hurting my heart.
"You won't. Chuuya will be there to protect you, and I'll help keep you alive." His hand wrapped around me, pressing me into a hug.
I never knew how warm a hug can be, and maybe my final one to experience again.
My grip almost seems desperate. Dazai had to circulate and push lightly on my shoulder.
"10 seconds before launch. All tributes must be in the tube before countdown."
No...I don't...
"Sigma."
I looked at Dazai. His expression became more furrow.
"Find chuuya."
It took me a moment to fully nod to his response before unnoticeably pulling him into a tight hug. I don't know why I did that, and neither did Dazai. His arms were left aimlessly floating. Took him a while to hug me back.
My eyes adverted to transparent tube. It's just like the one from before, only now it's more lighter, more clean. Almost like glass.
What's the need for it?
The ends of my foot glaze over the rim metal of the platform, even when I fully stepped inside I can feel my lungs hijacked.
All sounds lost oxygen, strangled by the finger tips of silence and soon to be death.
The outside walls staggered in muffle buzzing, until the sound of metal doors swung open in seconds.
Outside were men in red: Hunting dogs. Marching proudly and in such fast movement hit Dazai's stomach.
Wait... Dazai...
He got in a few hits on one of the hunting dogs, reddening their face until another one of them gripped his head and slammed it into the hard surface tube.
"No, Dazai!" I slam my hand at the tube, switching around to use my elbow. The walls are too firm to even leave a scratch on the inside out.
"Take him away." A short lady in a red ponytail commanded.
No no no, wait! Get me out, I need to save him!
The platform started to rise up as the sight of Dazai's body bleed lifelessly.
I kept hitting on the tube wall over and over again, but the sting sensation soon caught onto my beating hands. It was only then I became engulfed in endless darkness.
My cries mount to nothing.
"No...no no... Dazai..." My chest kept on rising without acknowledgement, choking my own lungs.
I don't remember how long until the first light blinded me in imitate empathy, piercing my vision.
The sound of unnatural movement can be heard. My regret was even considering the option of looking down. My own figure mimicking my horrid face in a transparent liquid blue and white waves.
Water?
My second regret was looking up. Thousands upon millions of wide range area of the arena was covered in water flowing in a tyrant course: a horrid abyss. A whole continent of water.
"Welcome to the third quarter quell of The Stray Dog Games."
The sight of the other tributes glancing the surrounding area and one another. The large cornucopia made of burnt copper and sunburn from the saturated light. Inside the tiny hole laid upon layers and layers of metal. And a gun.
A Directional resonance gun.
"And may the odds..."
My odds...
"Be ever, in your favor."
------------------------------------------------------------
I couldn't contain myself from not writing this and I've unnecessarily been watching the trilogy of the hunger games and waiting to get the physical copy of the books. Of course I have not fully written the fic just yet, needs some time to rework some scenes, but this one I couldn't just not write it (since it takes place in the third quarter quell, aka catching fire) and it is a draft so there will be spelling mistakes.
A little fun fact: a Directional resonance gun is one of the many tools introduced by sigma that can cause loss of consciousness and death from an ability user and used it on teruko during the casino arc
----------------------------- ☆ ---------------------------
Nikolai might be in London (spoilers for chapter 129.5)
------------------------------------------------------------
This is the second theory I have for nikolai gogol. This will be rather short since there isn't a lot of evidence I can analyze and dive into.
Firstly, let me get something very clear: Do I believe in this theory? No. Not really. Despite my love for nikolai, this theory is based on a hypothetical idea.
I just thought it would be interesting to discuss this, especially when considering his reappearance in the series after his supposed "death."
(Part 1): Nikolai's cane.
Let's start off with this rant: Nikolai's supposed cane he carries around. This was shown when sigma was falling out of the sky casino. Through the merusault arc and the many few panels of him, he is seen carrying a cane. It has a gold or silver handle and a black stick at the ends of the handle.
(Part 1.5): His overall physical body.
However, we are shown multiple times that he can walk perfectly normally without his cane. Not saying he could not likely have a disability (if you have a headcanon for that) but we are shown he can perform physical activities such as walking normally and bending down normally. Even able to carry the suitcase and fyodor's "dead hand."
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
(Part 2): Nikolai is in London theory.
Now here is where the theory starts; Nikolai is mostly likely the man Atsushi encounters when he arrives in London. The reason why I say this is that if you look very closely, the cane looks to be the exact same model as the one nikolai is seen using. While not the literal exact same one (if you look close, the ends of the handle have two twists rather than a single handle) but we are aware of how nikolai can disguise himself with anyone.
The only flaw within this theory is one simple question: how did nikolai even get to London? Not to mention how little time he manages to do so in whatever amount of time he had during the airport arc. However, we are informed of a time jump after the airport arc and when the ada was temporarily closed. It's not unlikely for Nikolai to be in London with that time skip, but why he would even be in London is unknown. From the many rumors from fans saying that Asagiri is likely to bring Nikolai back to the series, nikolai might have interest in the order of the clock tower when considering Agatha will be introduced soon in the new arc and part 2 of bungo stray dogs.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how Nikolai is technically the last one of the DOA that is left standing.
(Sigma’s still alive but he’s in a coma so yk…)
