An art I drew like half a year ago but forgot to post (everywhere except TikTok)
Yay reunited husbands with matching eye scars🎉

one last goodbye
I call it the “neurodivergent” team
@nichenarratives
They’re on date…I guess?
I always have a soft spot for art that has Mordecai staring at Viktor with a sad/longing look when the big guys not looking
You can hardly blame him when Viktor looks so great in that tux!
We all know Viktor + Formal wear is something he finds very...appealing...for reasons he can't/wont clarify XD

Sober Mordecai: Hiding affection behind criticism of Viktors grammar, fashion, grooming etc
Drunk Mordecai: Sappy and gushing with compliments and praise of Viktor and how great he and his big strong physique are
He is such little tsundere XD
Tsundere Mordecai our beloved baby gurl! 🥹
I don’t consider an underwear drawing of Ivy pearl clutchingly inappropriate enough to not be posted in my main so here it goes. Pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to draw her given I tend to hide bodies under baggy clothes for the most part.
I hate His stupidly hard to draw head
Mitzi's right about his serious case of fancy-feet.
I have never seen anything so perfect.
Hey. I have a question.. or several actually. What does Viktor think of him being shipped with Freckle? What's Viktor's favorite season and his favorite color? And one last thing... What would he do if he sees Ivy sad about some random thing. (P.s, seeing his response to orange peeling theory would honestly be my favorite thing in the entire world.)
Viktor hasn’t shown much but silent animosity for Freckle so far, and he’s more than twice Freckle’s age, so I think he’d be fairly perplexed. (I definitely don't expect everyone to know what their exact respective ages are - especially as it's not explicitly stated in the animated material - and this is not to say you can't have your own head canon that changes and reinterprets things. I'm just describing the Viktor I know.)
I don't think he's ever given an instant's thought to what his favorite color is. Mordecai might interject and say slate-blue. For seasons - winter. What's cold for everyone else is comfortable to him.
Viktor'd be liable to hold Ivy at arm's length. He’d want to avoid encouraging her emotional reliance on him. It'd probably hurt him a little to see her feeling hurt too, though, and so it might also qualify as self-defense. But she could definitely get him to peel an orange for her.
"Mordecai might interject and say slate-blue"
Haha its so funny that Mordecai would have a strong opinion on Viktor's favourite colour when the big guy himself doesn't
I wonder why Mordcai would say that because i'm not sure i've seen Viktor wear that colour very...
...wait a minute
For the Lackadaisy New Years party 1926, not only did Mordecai arrange for matching suits to be made to his and Viktor's measurements, and maximise their symmetry in the group photo
But he wanted them both made in the colour Viktor would like the most, he wanted them both dressed in Viktor's favourite colour
Oh Mordecai...you poor thing

Mordecai is such a sad, repressed gay man no matter how hard I try to see them as platonic I swear. Got them matching suits, had them made in Viktor's favourite colour, knows that favourite colour even though Viktor doesn't know it off the top of his head.
Finishes his sentence for him when he doesn't have an answer.
Mordecai, I'm so sorry this is the life you lead. It must hurt waking up alone every morning, knowing what you could have had, but living how it ended.
Mandatory Shadow propaganda.
Did Mordecai want Viktor to help with his investigation?
We know how much Mordecai is struggling all on his own, trying to investigate what Marigold is up to while dealing with Sweet's mockery and the Savoys probing and questioning of his motivations
He claims at the lunch that he "reasoned with him to retire" before he left, so we all just assume he wanted Viktor away from the situation entirely
But we still know little about the specifics of "the kneecapping incident" and the conversation we assume led up to it, only the aftermath.
Maybe he was hoping, after deciding to spy on Marigold to get "justice" for Atlas, that Viktor could be his secret confidante, only to be bitterly dissapointed when Viktor refused to leave the sinking Lackadaisy, forcing him to competely cut ties to avoid risk of Viktor being caught in the crossfire
He probably wouldn't want Viktor to outright join Marigold like him because that would put Viktor in the same extreme danger he would be in. But if he "retired", Viktor and his apartment could have become a safe house/place for Mordecai to retreat too whenever the strain got too much (after taking measures to enure he is not being followed of course)
We know that Mordecai, whether you read it as platonically or in a highly repressed romantic way, cares a lot about Viktor, and despite all their bickering and differences, they always had each other's backs. Viktor was the only person left in Mordecai's life post Atlas who he really trusted
Imagine how much easier it would be for him if he still had Viktor to confide in. However much strain he had to deal with, how tangled things got, he could vent and talk it through with Viktor when it was just the two of them again
I wonder if that's part of the reason we see Mordecai uncharacteristically opening up to Gracie during his interrogation.
Why else, out of anyone else in this town, would he let his usual cold emotionless mask slip down in front of this random brute?
It is partly no doubt because Gracie is almost certainly about to die so there is no risk telling him.
But he does physically resemble Viktor somewhat in terms of bulk, and those big suspenders over broad shoulders. So maybe it tricked Mordecai, consciously or unconsciously, into letting his guard down.
Because he wishes he could do this with the real thing instead of this poor substitute
Originally a response to @usual-art-lover I thought deserved its own post
I want to think Mordecai told Viktor about his plans to leave Lackadaisy. Having bitter feelings from Atlas's death and everyone just leaving to be with Marigolds.
Mordecai told Viktor first about his plan and how he felt. Viktor not having been at Atlas's funeral may have felt differently about Atlas. This started a fight between the two.
Viktor couldn't just leave the lackadaisy because of some death. He helped build the lackadaisy worked with Atlas longer it was all he ever knew and had. So why didn't Viktor go to the funeral?
I want to theorize that Atlas didn't respect Viktor the same he did with Mordecai.
Due to that they had a massive dispute over it.
Knowing Mordecai when it comes to losing, he gets insulting. If Viktor wasn't going to leave the lackadaisy and wasn't going to support him and his plan, why not retire then?
Viktor refusing to retire blew up into them fighting, and Mordecai kneecapped him because it would force Viktor into retirement.
Now, now Mordecai is realizing he's gotten himself into a situation he's not going to come out of alone. That there is more to what Mordecai knows about Atlas and what is happening.
Mordecai might be wrong about it all...
The only person who could reason with him and help him make sense of it all is Viktor.
He's ruined that relationship.
I have always suspected Viktor, despite only having one eye, saw his dynamic with Atlas a lot more clearly than Mordecai did through his surrogate father tinted pince-nez
We know that Viktor has never been happy with Mordecai taking needless risks with his life on behalf of Atlas May. Remember his reaction to Mordecai running ahead of him to get the money on the defiance job, clearly to prove himself to Atlas, and leading to him nearly getting killed and wounding his arm in the process
But when they deliver the money and other spoils to Atlas, the man remains his stoicn neutral self, may have even chastised Mordecai for letting the money take the hit (never mind he would have died otherwise)
Who did make sure Mordecai was alright? Who recovered his pince-nez from the ruined stairs of the burning building, and then offered them back as a gesture of comfort? Viktor
There is no way, if Mordecai told Viktor the plan, that he would have been willing to let Mordecai risk being butchered by Marigold for a man who exploited him at his lowest moment and used him for his own ends, just like he did with Viktor after he was arrested during the labour riots
From Mordecai's perspective Viktor refused to help Mordecai when he felt he needed it the most, and forced him to do something he really didn't want to do to get Viktor out of the firing line
From Viktors perspective he DID try to help him, by making him realize that he shouldn't throw the rest of his life away for a man who didn't really care, and that he should stay at the Lackadaisy and with his partner who did. Getting a bullet in the knee for his trouble
Ironically the self destructive nature of the idea is exactly what even surrogate Viktor points out
Honestly, this sums up what I believe the two of them thought of Atlas - and their relationships with the man - incredibly neatly.
Viktor might be a brick shithouse, but he isn't stupid. He knows his role in the Lackadaisy was never a friendship or partnership, or even mentor and mentee. He has always been the muscle, someone intimidating at Atlas' right hand, intended to threaten and when necessary, crush the competition between Atlas and his goals.
There is no love lost between them, no unspoken loyalty or code. Viktor was a purchase as much as employed; kept out of prison and saved from deportation despite his loyalty in the war by Atlas throwing cash at his case. He isn't there because he wants to be, but because he owes Atlas his freedom, a contract that only finds until his death.
On the other side of the court, Mordecai has always seen Atlas as inspiring. The fat cat with the balls to take what he wants, whatever the cost, to rise high. It echoes in his own aspirations - to be better, to earn more - even if the reasons for their ambitions differ.
Atlas saved his life, gave him a second opportunity to succeed where he once already failed, and he intends to grasp that opportunity with both hands. He intends to learn from Atlas, and become his sharpened dagger in thanks for this chance, his life resting in the other man's hands both in the past and the future.
He doesn't see that Atlas is using him. Or perhaps he does on some level, but truly doesn't care because of the opportunities he afforded a kid who thought he was a dead man walking before he met Atlas. He'll willingly become the gun, throwing himself into danger to feel worthy of that opportunity, of that chance, because he feels he owes Atlas everything.
Mordecai was as much a purchase as Viktor, even if one was monetary and one was through assistance. But Mordecai has latched on emotionally, a young man in need of a mentor, a father figure, while Viktor was mature enough to know there was no connection there.
I imagine it was frustrating to listen to Mordecai think aloud about the cause of Atlas' death, or hear his plan to infiltrate the Mirabel to spy on them. More than anything, Viktor has spent years watching his friend and partner in crime continue to pander to a man who looks at him like he's filthy on the sidewalk.
Now he's willing to usurp his entire life, openly put himself in danger, and for what? The man is dead, his legacy is floundering; I can see Viktor refusing to leave because he doesn't see the point in chasing ghosts, but the frustration he must feel when unable to convince Mordecai not to throw the rest of his life in front of a train just for closure, for his misplaced loyalty, is likely what lead to an argument.
An argument leads to insults, suggestions of how Atlas truly saw his left and right hand henchmen, which lead to threats; if you won't help, you'd best retire, or I won't hesitate to end you on an order. Perhaps even goading (I'd like to see you try; you wouldn't have the balls) that ultimately ends in an unplanned kneecapping.
It would have been raw and emotional, with true intentions hidden behind bared fangs, but their parting would have hurt them both equally. They're bitter, they're regretful, but the worst of all?
They're both alone, and that's the real punishment here.
Its canon. Rocky spikes his coffee every morning.
Now the real question.
Did it make Mordecai hallucinate because of the alcohol... Or the insanely high sugar content?
That is not the face of a man having a good time.
Have a little cute Mordedad interaction while I reread and edit what I have of chapter one to try and get back into this fic.
It's a long overdue gift for @esto-es-un-error I have permission to share with you all so I really want to make some progress, so feel free to hype me up.
