Continuing with gouache paintings of NYC streets with street art, here's an 8x10" piece of Staple Street.
I started with a carbon transfer (like writing a check and producing that duplicate for your records). The next step was painting with non-waterproof black gouache, so it would bleed a bit when adding color in the phase to come. The box from a Bell's Brewery beer makes a great on-the-fly palette. Then I add in the color in watercolor like washes.
Finally, off by bike to revisit Staple Street in TriBeCa and photograph the painting onsite where I took the original source photo months ago. There's some new Yoshi Art and someone rode off on the motorcycle.
