If I'm being honest, I had a handful of nicknames picked out for Fuecoco, but they all went out the window when I saw Skeledirge. I love it, but not enough to not name it after a Homestuck clown.

So, I recently started up the save file I'm going to be using for competitive this gen, and since Quaxly was the only starter I didn't end up using on my other profile, I went with it this time around. Turns out, she's pretty great? Didn't think of a nickname until the first time I used Aqua Step, and realized there was only one name campy enough, one pun bad enough to do the deed:

You probably wouldn't guess this about a kid who started with Yellow, but this line has been one of my favorites forever. I've had a lot of 'em, often TTGL themed, but the name that rings true in my heart? The one I come back to? (Weedle) Yankovic.
I like to think he'd approve.
Ghee," "Marge," or "Freehana" if I'm feeling silly, "Philemon" if I'm feeling like a pretentious weeb.
"Freevil" if both are true.
As a nerd, there are countless options for the Squirtle line! Bowser, Kamina, any of the TMNT, hell, Strider if I wanna piss people off.

because I'm a fucking nerd, in XY and SM I had ones focused on Mega Evolving to X and Y called "Havok" (shiny) and "Fatboy" (slim) respectively. Havok made it to Gen 8 as my dedicated G-Maxer.

Due to [The Continuing Shitfire], I'm shifting an ongoing Twitter thread to its own dedicated sideblog.
It is my goal in life to give every Pokémon the best possible nickname. Some strive for collection, others for battle, but me? Puns all the way, baby.
Expect a lot of terrible jokes, references to things I like, and a lot of badly-derailed trains of thought! My all-time favorite Pokémon (of which there are many) will typically get nicknames that relate to food and candy, comics, or music. The cream of the crop get ridiculous descriptive nicknames that end in "hed" — "Leafyhed" for Chikorita, for example.
The first handful of posts will be brought over verbatim from Twitter — the tweet thread usually grouped entire lines together, but individual mons will occasionally get their own, especially since I don't have a character limit here. It's worth pointing out that every single one of these is a nickname I've used in-game, and I've been playing for a *long* time — there's gonna be some double dipping.
Anyway, that's enough from me! I'll be transferring existing posts over, before starting on new ones — if there's any Pokémon you wanna see, or complaints about nicknames I've already posted, feel free to shoot me a message. There's not gonna be any real order here, so otherwise I'll just get to them as I get to them.
