Anya’s reasoning made sense over the matter, in which he nodded a few times while continuing to watch every move that'd been made, listen to every word that’d been spoken. For what they had, he did miss watching her work about. Nick was fortunate to know both sides of the coin, and the same could be said in return. “You have a point there...and yes, I’m saying that to score free donuts.” Nick chuckled to himself, though the gesture faded when he felt her hands against his cheeks. As rugged as she lived, her hands were always as smooth as silk. He reached for them in response and held onto them as he kissed both palms softly. “Not as good as you.” Nick replied. More words sat at the edge of his tongue, but they couldn’t be said. Not right now, at least. “Do...you need help closing? I don’t wanna keep you holed up here all night.”

It had only seemed right to get Nick the ugliest piece of clothing she could find. Sam had found many ugly things in her time of searching, but nothing that stood out. Until the tie. Oh god the tie had made her laugh for a good five minutes. That was how she knew it was perfect. “If you wear it to the next thing you got with important people, I won’t even argue about goin’ with you.”
Sam might have won this battle, but the war would continue on. This only made Nick more optimistic of what to find next, already thinking of what to get her for the next occasion. His mind already drifted to clothes old women would wear when she taunted him again. He scowled playfully. “What’s more important than work? I’ll wear it there.” Which was partially true. He could wear an apron or smock and no one would actually see the tie themselves. It was the perfect plan. “Be glad I didn’t get those bloomers I was eyeing at first. You could use those fuckers as a sail for a boat.”

Despite the nagging that went on in his head, Nick felt relieved that his instincts were correct. The moment Anya appeared from the back of the shop, it felt as though time slowed to a grinding halt. This was her, right? No dreams to wake up from, no lingering fear of this moment being sabotaged by a trap? Nick still had on his winter jacket. nothing too heavy but still able to look more human and less abominable snowman. He was in fight or flight mode as she moved closer and closer, but his guard began breaking down less and less. It wasn’t until the hug where he realized that this was in fact real, and what seemed like an eternity ago, didn’t have to be that way any longer. Maybe. “Really?! Donuts?” Nick randomly questioned when he held Anya away a bit to look at her, his grin brighter than the fluorescent lights in the room. He felt the gun against her waist when he held her. Never had a second thought about it. “I honestly expected a mechanic garage or some shit, I dunno. This is a surprising revelation here.”

Whatever this guy was going through seemed like it could be fodder for a daytime soap opera. All he needed was the backstory and some unearthed demons for the extra flare. Where were the NBC execs when you need them?
