Praise for Fetch: How a Bad Dog Brought Me Home
(out July 18!)
“Nicole Georges makes my favorite art about love and vulnerability. More than a tribute to a canine best friend, Fetch maps Georges’s journey from teen to adult with heartbreaking honesty and tender joy. I am in awe of Georges’s uncanny ability to transport me right into her world of moldy, crusty punk houses and glorious vegan lesbian barbecues. Funny, gorgeous, and true.”
—Jill Soloway, creator of Transparent
“From feral child to leader of the pack, Nicole Georges comes to know a thing or two about dogs, and incidentally, about herself. Her luminous, lyrical drawings of animals are charged with strange insight and add a potent nonverbal element to the narrative of Georges’s youth. Fetch combines the best qualities of diary comics—particularity and granular detail—with the zoomed-out view of someone who has completed an arduous, mythic, and expansive journey.”
—Alison Bechdel, author of Fun Home and Are You My Mother?
“Nicole’s work always punches me in the guts with her unending longing for a home. Through constant disappointments and the challenges of owning a rescue dog and a rescue heart, she unflinchingly refuses to quit. A magical world so full of tenderness it might just break you, it’s a place I love to visit and rarely want to leave. I want Nicole to draw the whole world, but her hands would fall off.”Â
— Sarah Shapiro, co-creator of Unreal

Hello from San Francisco, where Ponyo and I are teaching at California College of the Arts MFA in Comics Program!
I just had some illustrations published in Kazoo: A Magazine for Girls Who Aren’t Afraid to Make Some Noise. It also features comics by Alison Bechdel, Lucy Knisley and Lisa Congdon. I’m so happy to be a part of it.
Coming in August: the cover for my new book! Stay tuned.
Hi! I haven’t posted for a long time. I’m working on finishing my new book, “Fetch: How a Bad Dog Brought Me Home” and it’s taking up all of my time. I’m also hanging out with farm animals, volunteering with senior citizens, and working on my podcast (Sagittarian Matters {on iTunes}).
In July I’m going to teach at California College of the Arts MFA in Comics program, after-which I will have more up my sleeve to reveal!
Until then, please follow myself and my dog on Instagram (@Nicolejgeorges @ponyogeorges). It’s where I am currently posting my progress on the book, and videos of drawing.Â
Have a lovely summer! n.g.
HELLO! I just got home* from MoCCA in New York City. I am so so happy to say that my original pages from the comic “Grief” (which appeared in the Ignatz-winning Qu33R anthology) are up at the Society of Illustrators through April 30th.
At MoCCA, I met a bunch of people, interviewed Phoebe Gloeckner , Alec Longstreth, and Jennifer Camper for my podcast, and sat on a panel called “Revealing the Self: Autobiography in Comics” with Gina Wynbrandt, Jennifer Hayden, and Gabrielle Bell! Moderated by Heidi Macdonald.
The whole trip was a delight. I also interviewed JD Samson, took Ponyo (my dog) around town, and ate the required vegan delicacies (VanLeeuwen banana ice cream, Superiority Burger, and Cheezehound Mutzarella).
Thank you, New York!
Now, back to work on “Fetch”, my next book.
xoxo

Hello! I am hard at work on my new book, “Fetch: How a Bad Dog Brought Me Home”. It should be out with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2017! Cross your dog-loving fingers for me. I’m working at a steady pace from my temporary perch as the Writer in Residence at the College of William & Mary.
In other news, my podcast is going at a steady clip (our most recent episode includes a lot of good feelings with best friend Beth Ditto), and I’ll be in New York soon! Ponyo & I will be at MoCCA, at the Center for Cartoon Studies table, and I will have art in a show at the Society of Illustrators, called “The Center for Cartoon Studies: 10 Years of Fellowship”. The opening reception is April 1st!
