She laughs. She laughs a hearty laugh while her imagination runs wild and imagines the man sitting by her side in the entire Cinderalla get-up from top to bottom; from a delicate tiara placed atop a blonde wig to the traditional glass slippers, she imagines it all and laughs with her head thrown back. The only thing muffling her joy just a little is the hand she throws over her mouth coupled with several attempts to silence herself by pressing her lips closed. It lasts for a few brief moments but it’s sufficient to make her stomach feel the same way a good workout does. “You have, oppa,” she agrees eventually after turning in her seat so she could look at him better. “I think Cinderella’s look is one you’d have absolutely no trouble pulling off. Hell, you may do it even better than she did and then we’d have to rewrite the books and reconsider the movies.”

It’s a temporary distraction and it only works for a little while before their attention is diverted back to the real subject at hand and Hyolyn feels for him. She really, truly does because she, too, knows how difficult it is to wait anxiously for a concrete answer; for assurance. And then she recalls how her heart broke when the answer was not a positive one at all but rather, she was handed a rough guess to how much longer her youngest had left. She frowns, taking the liberty to rest a hand in assurance on his shoulder, squeezing lightly. “But he’ll be okay. He’s had you by his side for such a long time, he must’ve learned from you how to hang out with all your might. Hope for the best, oppa. Hope he’s just a little under the weather and nothing more,” she suggests and her smile is soft, hopefully reassuring. 

“I’m okay,” she responds and drops the hand from his shoulder, pausing for a moment to take a long sip from her can. It’s long enough she almost finishes it so she gives it a quick swish, attempting to judge how much of the coffee was left. One more sip, by the feel of it. “Things have been a little slow occasionally but I’ve had a few projects to work on these past few weeks and they’re coming close to their release date. It’s pretty exciting to go from studio to studio and record.”

「 * 希 」 heechul lets a small smile run across his face as he listens to hyolyn’s laughter . he’s always preferred deeper voices and huskier tones , so hyolyn’s laugh is like music to his ears . and contagious , he guesses , because he starts chortling right alongside her . giggles mixing together . “ trust me , if there’s going to be a korean remake , i’m the first contender to play cinderella . perhaps i’d talk the director into giving you a role , maybe one of the evil step sisters . “

the hand on his shoulder is comforting , truly and deeply comforting . he places his hand on her knee , in no other way than to offer a fraction of the comfort she offers him . he listens to hyolyn speak and he knows that she’s right . so ridiculously right that his pessimistic brain can’t work up a counter-argument , he nods in defeat . 

“ working is always a good way to keep busy , “ he gives another nod before a mischievous smirk works it’s way onto his lips . “ speaking of keeping busy .. how many bottles of soju can you drink now ? 4 ? 5 ?? “

( 김종현 !  ── )he was startled by the sudden hand on his shoulder, he hadn’t expected for someone to be so close to him like this - one of the reasons he had so freely been wearing his earbuds in while resting in one of the break rooms, although they quickly were pulled down by curiosity from who had decided to come and freak him out - of course he was not surprised when he saw the familiar face of his friend. “hyung …” he started off, brows furrowing together. “what kind of person would i be if i haven’t seen the last episode? i’m offended. ” he replied back, all of course nothing but playful responses - and truthfully, jonghyun hadn’t actually seen the last episode - he hated to admit that the show was over so suddenly. “have you?”

As a  certified coffee enthusiast of 26 years, Kim Kibum can tell a mean macchiato from a rebellious ristretto, one expresso shot from two. So of course It hurts– it physically and mentally hurts to hear Heechul dub the sludge in a knock off Starbucks cup “coffee”.  

“Coffee?” He scoffs, incredulity thick on his sharp tongue. “Don’t you dare call this coffee.“ He defends the legal drug like his life depended on it ( and it did– from his mood to his stride, all fueled by caffeine ). “That’s an insult to coffee. Really, how hard is it to order an Americano?” He’s sighing, spilling the coffee into the drain, but keeping the cup ( because it’s pretty ). “I want my money back–give me my money back. You should be lucky I’m not bringing you up on attempted murder charges. My stomach feels like a nuclear plant and I’ve got schedules later.” He groans, appendix coiled around his aching, severely sabotaged stomach.  "Is this your way of getting back at me for having more followers on Instagram  than you? ”  

「 * 希 」 “ yah ... “ heechul  is taken aback . it’s just coffee isn’t it ? does it really warrant such a vehement response ? has kibum joined some sort of coffee cult without heechul’s knowing ? 

“ it is from starbucks -- there must not be any quality control . i told them exactly what you said and that’s what they gave me , “ heechul watches as the coffee is poured out , he shrugs . “ i’m not paying you back . my time is worth more than 5,000 won and some change . if anything you should be paying me for even bothering to pick you up anything . would you like to pay now or should i send the bill to your manager ?? “

She felt a wave of relief as soon as the recording was done and the butterflies in her stomach were flying far away from her. It was her second ( or third ) time being on a variety show; the atmosphere honestly felt a little bit better than previous ones. Maybe it was the fact the show was less serious, people were there to make each other laugh and oh boy, did she laugh. Pretty sure, she had her abs back. But it also managed to make her exhausted. As soon as they were done with their segments, Chaeyeong wanted to fall on the floor and sleep there for a few seconds. Unfortunately, it would have been rude and questionable, all she was able to do was bow deeply to show her gratitude and exchange a few words with the cast.

        ❛So am I allowed to come another time or was I actually a boring person?❜ The question was presented to the person who was the loudest out of the cast, the one who didn’t seem to watch what came out of his mouth; Kim Heechul himself. To be honest, the whole recording she didn’t talk that much, only talked when she was talked to and the brunette haired female knew she needed practice. And a lot. ❛Or do I need to talk to the mirror, pretend I’m in a variety show or something like that?❜

「 * 希 」 heechul stretches as he stands from his seat , pulling his arms across his chest a few times before letting them drop to his side . he bows to the staff , he knows he could maybe bow a little deeper but at least he’s even bowing ; 6 years ago he would have left without more than a nod . “ good work ,” he praises the whole of the staff while waving his hands at them . 

he then turns to the guests . “ good work , you two ,” he praises because he knows , other than kyunghoon , the other members might not get around to it . 

he doesn’t blame them , they’re getting too old for pleasantries . only so much time left and all that .

“ you’re banned from knowing brothers . i’m banning you ,” heechul’s just joking , obviously , by the smirk on his face . but joking aside , he rests a comforting hand on her shoulder . he knows how hard variety shows can be , well … not personally , but a fair amount of idols have shared their worries with him . 

“ yah ! youngchul is a permanent member on this show and he hasn’t said a funny thing in almost 2 months ! i think you’re cleared for at least one more episode .”
