A/N: *Slaps self* C’MON GW, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, YOU GOT A BLOG TO RUN AND YOU CAN’T KEEP ALL YOUR FOLLOWERS WAITING FOR YOUR SENIORITOUS AFFECTED BOOTY. SO GO OUT THERE AND WRITE SOMETHING. Ahem... that being said, I noticed that it’s supposedly Cater’s birthday today, and I found this a good time to get back into the groove of things (after all, Cater was kinda my “first love” when I got into TW before the other characters came out). I won’t deny it, I have been lazy, but I WILL REDEEM MYSELF!!!! 💪(Ò_Ó💪)
It was a pretty big day at the Heartslabyul dormitory, after all one of it’s well known member’s had their birthday today. That member was one of the ‘heart throbs’ of the dorm: Cater Diamond. The third year was enjoying his day getting gifts, birthday wishes, and treats, but there was one thing he was looking forward to more than anything. And that thing was...
It’s been quite a while since the two of you had alone time together, and with today being his birthday, he hoped he could spend the day with his beloved. So where were you?
“Riddle PLEASE just for today!”
The shorter dorm leader scoffed and rolled his eyes. “This is technically your fault. Why must you drag me – actually – me, Ace, Deuce, AND Trey into your forgetfulness?”
You puffed your cheeks out in frustration. If only you had a better reminder, you wouldn’t have forgotten your boyfriend’s present. You hadn’t mean to forget it. It just slipped your mind with all of the tests and quizzes that had suddenly flooded your schedule. You were starting to tear up when you felt a comforting hand on your shoulder. Trey gently smiled at you then looked back to the dorm leader, “Come on Riddle what’s the harm. Besides, it his birthday today. Being a distraction won’t be that hard... besides, he’s kind of an air head. It’d bbe funny to watch him run around campus like a headless chicken.”
You lightly punched the third year’s shoulder. “Hey! That’s my boyfriend! You are right though... he is a bit of a himbo.”
Riddle pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. He looked towards the two first years, “What about you two? Are you really ok with this?”
Ace gave out a signature grin, “Yeah! I think it’ll be fun!”
Deuce only shook his head but smirked, “I think it’s stupid, bit it would be a good time to mess with him.”
Riddle, being out voted, groaned and snatched the objects from your hand. “Alright, alright. I’ll help. But you owe me tarts for a week.”
You smiled and pulled him, and the other boys, into a group hug. “Thank you.”
Cater wandered around the grounds of the Heartslabyul dorm looking for you. It was nearly lunch and he was hoping to eat with you. Soon enough, he found someone, but it wasn’t you. Rather, it was his best friend throughout his time at Night Raven: Trey Clover.
Cater called his name and jogged up to him. “Hey Trey.”
The green haired male turned around and greeted him with a clasp of their hands and a quick bro hug. “Sup birthday boy. How’s the day going for you?”
The ginger shrugged, “It’s been going pretty alright, but have you seen (Y/n) around? I wanted to grab some lunch with them before we head back into class.”
Trey shoved his hands into his pockets and shrugged, “I don’t know man. I haven’t seen them around. They did want me to give this to you though.”
He pulled out a fairly medium sized red shard out of his pocket and handed it to his best friend, “I hope this helps.”
Cater looked down at the mysterious red shard. It was kind of see through, and it felt like it was made of glass or crystal. He flipped it over and found a little message carved into the red stone: ‘Do you remember where we first had tea?’
He felt his eyes roll at the message. They were really making him go a scavenger hunt? Cater looked toward his friend, “Thanks for this Trey. I gotta go. I’ll see you back in class.”
With that, he went off towards the flower fields in search for you. Walking down the path, Cater thought back to the memory of when yoo first has tea together. He smiled. You were clumsy back then, clumsier than you were now at least, and you were serving tea for the one of Riddle’s parties. You suddenly tripped over yourself and almost fell forward with the tea tray in your hands, but he was there to catch you. When you were going to be scolded by Riddle, Cater blamed himself for causing you to drop the freshly brewed tea. The dorm leader only sighed and sent the two of you away. He’s the one that brought two tea cups with him.
It wasn’t until he felt a sharp pain on his butt that he snapped out of his memory walk. When he turned around and looked towards the ground, he saw a innocent pink hedgehog dizzily staring back at him. There was a laugh, and he looked up to see Ace and Deuce holding pink and blue flamingos (well more like Ace laghing and Deuce sighing). “Deuce did ya see that? That was a bullseye right there!” Ace said hunched over, between gasps of air.
“Yeah and that’s Cater running at you with a spear.” Deuce said nonchalantly while stepping back.
When the first year looked up, he saw the upperclassman running at him full speed with his signature red, diamond motif spear he summoned. Cater had chucked the spear, and Ace was only able to barely jump out of the way with a girlish scream. “DEUCE HELP ME!” Ace said as he ran away from the raging third year.
Deuce only watched as the two ran around the garden.
When you first heard Ace’s panicked screams, you peeked your head outside of the dorm’s kitchen window to see him running away as Cater kept summoning and throwing spears. You shook your head with a laugh. There was a ding of a cooking timer, and you quickly went to work pulling the cake out of the oven. You placed the hot pan on a wooden board, grabbed a toothpick, and poked the maroon cake in several places to make sure the batter was throughly baked. Satisfied, you chucked the toothpick in the trash, took the warm cake out of the pan, and let it it cool as you worked on the frosting.
Since you didn’t exactly have time to go out and get a gift, you opted to bake him a simple cake. With the excess money you saved, you also wanted to treat him to dinner. Sure it wasn’t the most ideal birthday present you wanted to give him – in fact you wish you could rewind time to get him his actual gift – but it would have to work for now.
With the cake coming together nicely, you silently thanked the boys for helping you stall in looking for him. You only hope you could finish before he found you.
Cater panted hard as he glared at the first year who was currently strung up on the wall by a couple of spears pinning his clothes. Ace shook frightened, but continued to smile. “I-I’m really sorry ok Cater? I admit I was being an idiot, but you were perfectly just... in line and I had to do it!”
Cater smoothed back his hair before smirking, “You know Ace... you make a pretty good wall ornament.”
The young boy bugged his eyes out, “Wait Cater! PUT ME DOWN!”
“Please! I don’t want to be stuck here! I’ll give you something in return!”
Cater raised an eyebrow as Ace blindly fished his pockets for an item. He pulled out a red shard, similar to the one the diamond had, but different shape. Cater grabbed it from him and read it over: ‘The death card’
Before he could question Ace, Deuce walked up to the two. “No need to waste your brain power Cater,” he said, “I’m here to give you mine.”
The blue haired boy pulled out a mirrored piece of Ace’s and handed it to Cater. “Awe, deuce what did you do that for? He was supposed to look for you.” Ace whined.
He let out a snort before replying to Ace. “As a thank you for the free entertainment,” he then turned to Cater, “If you want the last piece, you have to find Riddle. Last I checked he was in the common room. Also don’t worry about Ace. I got him.”
Despite the red head’s protests, Cater left the two in search for Riddle. He was getting tired of the wild goose chase and he really, really just wanted to be with you right now. If that meant having to find Riddle, then he would find the dorm leader damnit.
It didn’t take long for him to find him sitting in one of the chairs in the common room. Riddle took notice of him immediately, stood up, and strode over to him. “Finally you’re here!”
The shorter male practically shoved the last red shard in Cater’s face. “Take it. I’m tired of having to hold onto it for you.”
He simply smiled and took it from him, “Thanks Riddle.”
The dorm leader huffed, crossed his arms, and turned his head the other way. “Whatever,” he mummbled, “just remind your significant other that they owe me on this one.”
With that, the little queen of hearts walked away leaving Cater to himself. Taking the other pieces, he quickly put them together to form a heart shape. The red crystal glowed and shined and the word ‘follow your heart’ gleamed in a warm pink light. A little arrow appeared that beckoned for him to follow.
It had lead him to the dorm’s kitchen, and when he was about to open the door, you came out cake in hand and almost ran smack into him. He was quick to grab your arms to steady you, and you had gotten better with your clumsiness to keep the cake steady. You sighed in relief and locked eyes with your boyfriend.
You felt your heart drop and you pouted.
Cater laughed and gently cupped your cheeks, “Well hello to you too grumpy.”
“You weren’t supposed to be here yet~” you whined, “I still had more to do before you came here.”
Cater peaked down at the cake you made him. It was a simple diamond shaped cake that said ‘Happy Birthday Love!’ in red frosting. There were a couple of edible playing cards that had the diamond suits and little red hearts that were iced on here and there. Even if it was simple in design, Cater felt his heart grow at the effort you put into it. He looked back at you, “And what did you still have to do?”
You sheepishly looked down, “Well, I was going to get cleaned up and box the cake in my room. I had this really nice outfit that I got for a special occasion, and I was hoping we would get dinner later with just the two of us...”
Careful not to bump into the cake still in your arms, he leaned over and gave you a peck on your forehead, nose, then lips. The gesture made you smile, and in turn Cater smiled back at you. He walked over to your side and pulled you closer by the waist. He leaned over to whisper in your ear, “How about I help you get ready~? Then we can share the cake in your room.”
You giggled and nudged him with your shoulder, “Stop it you. You might be the birthday boy, but that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want.”
He laughed, “Are you sure about that?”
You started walking back to the dorm rooms without him. Looking over your shoulder, you coyly smiled and said, “No.”
He smirked and lightly jogged to be next to you again. As the two of you went up the stairs to your room you called out his name. He hummed in response and looked towards you.
“Happy Birthday... and I love you.”
