I am speaking for myself here, but I know a lot of my Palestinian friends have done so much more for this process- but I personally have put in hours and hours of work to ensure a thorough and respectful verification is being done for Gazans who come to me, that way there is no reason for people to doubt the authenticity of a fundraiser and a family can get all the help they need. Even months ago, when it was clear tumblr was not being ethical with the way they handled us vetting gofundmes, we still found solution with getting accounts vetted through on the ground measures instead of through messages here. And now once again, tumblr’s ethics have reached a new low with trying to discredit not only Gazans but the work we have put into making sure they are taken seriously on this site and not treated as scams. I can only hope most people on this site are smart enough to not listen to tumblr’s newly released guide on “identifying scams”.

Hey guys... maybe I know why tumblr is so hellbent on accusing fundraisers for 3 Muslim-majority nationalities (Palestinian, Lebanese, and Sudanese) of being scams...

Maybe it was because Matt Mullenweg was alleged to have committed fraud through a company he and his mother run through strange business practices, along with islamophobic & sexual harassment and a swathe of other forms of racist harassment, including anti-blackness, specific racism and fetishism towards East Asian women, hatred of Mexicans, along with various slurs (.29). All this was revealed by former employee who was a Muslim woman who experienced racist and islamophobic, & sexual harassment by Mullenweg's mother and harassment specifically for her wearing hijab (.28).

Updated some of the wording on my paragraph because after looking into it more the wording may have been misleading / misinformed!

Just for further clarity, because I realize most people reading this post won't open the links, for the part about the fraudulent business plans and behaviour, it's discussed very shortly in paragraphs 10-15. Fraudulent business practices were not the primary reason for the lawsuit and they were not primary aspects of the allegations, but they were present and it was worth mentioning due to the irony of the present treatment tumblr has of Muslim majority nationalities currently.

Regardless of how in-depth or vague these specific allegations are, do not let that take away from the fact that a Muslim nurse accused Matt Mullenweg and his mother Kathleen Mullenweg of scamming her out of free labour. And this wasn't the first time they scammed a worker out of her money.

to be clear i gain absolutely no smug satisfaction from the horrible state of the democratic party. i do not Want to be this upset and disgusted by the state of american politics. i would love nothing more than to feel like things could be meaningfully improved through the electoral process. but the only way to believe that would be to ignore the rhetoric being used and the actions being taken by people who are supposedly progressive and i just can't do that. why is it my job to pretend that they're not doing and saying the things they're doing and saying so i don't come off as too much of a bummer online. i think it should be their job to campaign on platforms that involve killing less people and being less racist but they seemingly aren't going to even pretend to do that ever again.
