no you don’t understand. louis and lestat were friends first. lestat could’ve easily invaded louis’ mind and used his deepest darkest secrets to draw him in. but no. louis confided in him willingly. he trusted him more than anyone else before his turning strengthened their bond. he never felt like he had to hide from lestat, even when stuck in oppressive human society.

louis being a god awful liar is one of my favourite details about the show because it means you have no choice but to believe most of what he’s telling us because like. the man can’t lie to save his life. he’s in denial about a lot of things which fuzzes the validity of his story a bit, and he misremembers a lot too obviously, but you can always catch him out when he’s actively lying. like talk about narrative corroboration.

something i wonder a lot about is whether or not lestat kept trying to reach out to armand after that night they spoke in san francisco. judging by the fact he remembers the time of the call down to the minute and that he knew in his heart that louis had hurt himself, you’d think he would’ve attempted to get some kind of answer over the years despite physically staying out of their way. so did he try to? how many times? did armand purposely shut his mind off to him so he wouldn’t know if louis was okay or not? if so, was it to torture him or just to keep him away? did armand hear him and simply kept ignoring him? or did lestat do nothing? did he willingly let the not knowing eat him up inside to keep to not bothering them, hoping that louis would come back to him safe and sound like he eventually did?
