Alright, so-
I am NOT open for commissions right now (and I'm not sure if I will be in the future).
If you post something generic like "Are you available for commissions?" within one minute of me uploading a picture I will usually assume you are a bot (sorry).
If you ARE actually interested in commissions and I happen to be taking them I'll probably edit this post to include some kind of phrase to have in a request to make it obvious you're not a bot.
Seeing people online talk about the most recent cards in JP ProSeka and I kinda keep expecting people to start declaring their trans headcanons for characters by drawing them sitting in either the boy chair or the girl chair (the chairs are gendered).
As for headcanoning characters as non-binary, idk... Standing? One foot on each? Planking between the two? Surrounded by the shattered remains of two chairs?

Still stuck on mobile rn so my plan was that I'd use VoiceVox via the VoiMero app to cover it with Nekotuka R.
However the app has apparently DELETED almost every voicebank I had with no obvious way of unlocking them again so 🤷 I guess they're just GONE now...
Technically I could still cover it with Zundamon (the only voice remaining) but like... I wanted to use Nekotuka R... the cat vb with similar range to Iroha...

There's a temptation because of the exact "ear" that's hidden in this silhouette for me to say Nekotuka R but Flavor Foley has never used VoiceVox as far as I know so it feels unlikely for them to start with a voicebank that obscure (plus the hair doesn't really fit).

This was genuinely really interesting to watch the results of so I might have to do this kinda thing again if I can.

Actually yk what I'm bored here's a rundown of every Nendoroid I can think of with possible relevance to the Cryptonloids so I can wildly speculate on characters that could appear as guests in Starry Party (disclaimer: some most of these are ridiculous and probably won't happen).
Starting with the most obvious, Yowane Haku, Akita Neru, and Kasane Teto.
These three have appeared in Crypton games before and I understand Crypton has at least some partial rights to them so they probably WILL show up. Especially as Haku had her first appearance in Nendoroid quite recently and that feels like it genuinely may have been done with this taken into consideration.
Mikudayo.
I am very unclear at what stage a Miku derivative stops being Miku and also how the hell did they chibify a character that's already chibi?
Riliane Lucifen d'Autriche and Allen Avadonia.
They borrow much of their appearance from Rin and Len so I can imagine them feasibly being included- at least as costumes- in the future. Possibly depends on the inclusion of relevant MOTHY songs though so idk.
The Project Sekai group leaders.
Technically (?) possible, but for reasons I can't explain feels unlikely. If this were to happen though it may also mean the Miku sekai-specific variants could be included.
Gumi.
Deserves her own mention as she was a guest in Project Mirai, so this would not be her first appearance in a chibi-style Crypton game if she appeared.
Other voice synths- Gakupo, Lily, Luo Tianyi, Zundamon, Ui.
I personally think Lily and Ui are extremely unlikely. Lily because she's been sadly largely forgotten and Ui because whilst she has an inexplicable ability to show up everywhere I feel like she's still very new and a lot of her fanbase comes from vtuber fans rather than voice synth fans. The others I can maybe imagine though.
Black Rock Shooter.
Black Rock Shooter from the Miku song Black Rock Shooter and the anime Black Rock Shooter. Might need the song Black Rock Shooter added too though as what is Black Rock Shooter without Black Rock Shooter?
Jashin-chan.
Miku appears as a reoccurring character in the anime Jashin-chan is from, Dropkick My Devil! Jashin-chan herself also exists as a speech synth in VOICEPEAK, so she has her connections to the vsynth world.
Touhou and/or iM@s characters.
This list officially enters "silly/don't bet on it" territory from this point on. Vocaloid rose to prominence around the same time as these fandoms and I believe they're collectively known as the big three of Niconico (the Japanese video sharing site). They have a reasonable overlap in fandoms too. Touhou is the more likely one as Miku has collabed with Touhou more recently than Idolm@ster to my knowledge, but both are unlikely.
Joker from Persona.
Miku has collabed with Persona relatively recently and it's very much not the first time. As someone who knows absolutely nothing about Persona, sure why not.
Sonic is not happening.
Sega is not involved in this game as far as I know so he probably won't show up.
Screw it, Godzilla.

Realistically I only expect Haku, Neru, and Teto though. MAYBE Mikudayo and/or Gumi too.
As an aside, since this is very much marketed as a Nendoroid game it makes me wonder if Nendoroid is gonna use some of its original characters. They might have opportunities where they could appear as part of a crowd and/or as NPCs or something?

Occasionally I think it'd be really nice to have the ability to talk to animals. Like it would be really good to explain to the many-plumed moths I keep seeing why it is NOT A GOOD IDEA to stick around in a house that also currently has a clothes moth problem.
Many-plumed moths are beautiful looking things (they have delicate feathery wings) and I love them but they are fundamentally small brownish silver moths and you cannot tell the difference mid-flight.
Currently cursing one that I tried to let out of the window TWICE only for it to come straight back in. FFS JUST LET ME HELP YOU 😭 THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE RIGHT NOW

I discovered this song because Zundamon is vaguely there and also it was animated by Caitromen. Warmish take: but AI voice is a lot more realistic than SynthV. THIS TUNING BRO. I totally thought these were real people. Genuinely I had to keep checking to make SURE these were vocal synths because they genuinely sound so realistic it’s almost scary. Anyways, the art is gorgeous, obviously, but the song itself is really nice too. The vibe is like travelers singing a story around a campfire and it totally lives up to that. I love how the different voices harmonize and blend with the astonishingly amazing instrumental. It’s not super unpopular, but I don’t think it’s reached an English speaking audience yet. I’m here to change it because this song is so good. Whimsical, that’s the word. It’s whimsical. Anyways listen to it it’s amazing

This song uses the voicebanks Merrow and Nakumo the voice synth engine "Neutrino".
Interestingly enough, Zundamon here is in a different engine, VoiceVox. I say interestingly because Zundamon is ALSO available in Neutrino and they are both free software.
Also weirdly the first time I heard this song personally was from a version using an even more obscure engine and singer- a cover of this song is used as a demo for Nagno Himawari from the engine "Melisma".
Ages ago (when I was reading one) I was thinking about how funny it was that there were two manga licensed in English with very similar titles. Like, confusingly so. But apparently now there's a third one??
So anyway I think English manga publishers should continue this trend by licensing every manga called some variation of "(The) Mermaid Prince".

I've held off on it so far because I was curious if they'd add an insane unexpected voicebank that'd totally skew my priorities in the meantime. I have to keep reminding myself the thing exists though because this was announced much earlier this year and I keep forgetting the date... I'm only checking now because I was thinking "how the hell is it July already?"
Kinda can't decide between picking a VoiSona specific vb I like (like Ying Can) or picking a voicebank I like more but would rather have both CeVIO and VoiSona of (like Soyogi Soyogi). 🤔 I still have well over a month left admittedly but I feel like most people probably had more of an immediate decision...
I watched The Sheep Detectives a few days back and while it is a genuinely good film one thing that never seems to get brought up in discussions of it is how confusing the setting is.
My rough thoughts whilst watching-
"Okay this is an American film set in Britain, gotta keep my expectations low for accuracy."
"Some of the costumes are a bit odd, I guess it's an aesthetic choice though."
"Did that one character just say 'flashlight'??"
"Well I GUESS it makes sense to read the will in dollars since the recipient is American..."
"I'M SORRY WHAT THE HELL IS THAT POSTAL UNIFORM?!"
(And variations on this, mostly very minor but screaming that a lot of the production was left to the Americans)
So I thought to myself "okay, they were adapting a book set in rural England and they did their best I shouldn't be too harsh"... And then I actually looked the book up.
The original book (which the film is more inspired by than adapting) is set in IRELAND. Which means somewhere in the production process they decided to change the setting but ALSO add all the Americanisms.
Also at one point they use a term for a small window that I've never heard before and this is treated like a word everyone knows. I meant to look it up after watching but forgot so now I'm just googling "words for small windows" (I forgot the exact term used) wondering if this is just something I happened to have not heard of or if it's a technical term, an American term, an Irish term, a German term... (they're all options).
Again to reiterate IT IS A GOOD FILM AND DID MAKE ME CRY but I just wanna know the reason behind some of these choices...
Kinda went down a rabbit hole recently-
Clip Studio Paint users, anyone who knows obscure Japanese trivia if it goes that way- does Clip Studio Paint have an official anime-style mascot?
I don't use the software myself but I came across something when I was looking at CeVIO (the voice synth)'s early archives and now I'm curious.
This image appears in the CeVIO archive for the 8th of August 2013 (the year CeVIO was released). It's part of a stamp collection thing at C84/Comiket 84. This is mostly a doujin event, but the fact at least two companies here seem to be suggesting this is from an official collab still leaves me with questions. The artist is credited as TNSK.
The two girls on the left are Madobe Yuu and Madobe Ai (mascots for Windows 8 in the OS-tan series). They seem to be unofficial creations, so I'm unsure how their appearance works exactly. The other two companies credit Microsoft so I've no idea.
The middle girl is Sato Sasara. As the aforementioned archive link would indicate, her appearance is endorsed by CeVIO itself.
The girl on the right is who I'm curious about. Clip Studio also endorsed this appearance. The girl on the right appears to be called クリップスタジオちゃんRC (Clip Studio-chan RC), or クリスタちゃんRC (Kurista-chan RC). I have no idea what the RC stands for.
So basically- does this girl appear anywhere else? Or was she just a cool one-off character?

The fact that I've never seen fanart of her is honestly the most confusing thing if she's reoccurring in any way...
So the BBC is planning to do an adaptation of Kiki's Delivery Service and it's interesting to watch the reactions to this because apparently a lot of people haven't realised how much of Studio Ghibli's work is adapted from novels (this includes Kiki, the BBC would be adapting from the book/s rather than the Ghibli film).
Honestly, I think it sounds interesting. A live-action TV series is a totally different medium to an animated film so it's not like there's no room for adaptational differences. Also apparently there are MULTIPLE books in the original series.
As a side note, the only book I've read personally that Ghibli has adapted is The Borrowers (adapted as "Arrietty"). It's a great adaptation honestly but I'd still love to see others in the future.
Been a while since I read it or watched the film but iirc the Ghibli film is MOSTLY accurate to the first book (yes, there are others) outside of changing the setting to modern day Japan. Changes I remember- in the Ghibli film the human characters have Japanese names, heart surgery is mentioned, and a big reason the two become friends in the first place isn't really touched upon iirc.
In the original novel (new paragraph because this is a whole thing) the boy asks Arrietty to read to him because that's something he struggles with. Why? Because he was raised with multiple languages in British India. He's come to Britain to stay with family because of his health but his English reading skills are poor, so this is something they bond over.
I feel like if you keep this in but adapt it into a modern setting, because the British Empire no longer really exists you are gonna have to admit that kid would probably be an immigrant. I'd love an adaptation with that reading. Also, one that goes past the first book. So although Arrietty is genuinely one of my favourite films, and Ghibli's art style is gorgeous and really suited in that setting, I'd still love to see other adaptations in the future should they appear.
Every time discussion of vsynths in other media comes up I remember one post I saw online where someone spotted the CeVIO interface in an anime, likely creative studio era, on a computer an anime girl was using iirc. The poster commented something like "why CeVIO, guess they couldn't get the rights to Vocaloid" (in retrospect it's probably either because CeVIO has a set up with schools or because there was a free version anyway so a teen character in Japan would have better access to CeVIO).
I SWEAR I saw this post online, and I was even tragic enough to consider watching the anime to see it in context. I wish I had now, because this is impossible to search for. "CeVIO anime" just brings up the Kamitsubaki anime, or assumes you mean "anime art style". And CeVIO has next to no English speaking fanbase outside Kafu fans, which complicates things.

2015, so peak Creative Studio era (that's the year most of their vbs for that engine were released). CeVIO itself brought this up on their own youtube channel which I hadn't thought to check.
I might add it to my plan to watch list, I've watched anime for stupider reasons.
