💏
A kiss… because the world is ending.
The last bundle of grain crumbled to ashes in her hands. Discordia let the powder carry in the wind- there would be no goddess coming to replant the scorched earth. The Fates were cutting the final strings. It was time for even the Gods to pass over. Discordia felt it in her bones. Only a smattering of them were left, with a few tenacious humans following in their wake.
Ares had gone. Demeter had finally relinquished. Her own time was coming soon.
Discordia walked down the remains of a road, appearing behind Taku with none of her usual theatrics. Before she could utter a word, she put a hand on her cheek and led her into a sooty kiss.

The smile never left her lips, even as she drew in her last breath, taking in the last of the Chaos energy around her. It was quick, not as painless as she would’ve hoped but- beggers couldn’t be choosers. But what surprised her more was waking up again. It was dark but…those were most definitely stars. Her first thought was that Discordia had been right, that they were all going to the same place. But it didn’t feel like hell? Still, she looked around in case the goddess was there.
Around Taku was nothing more than the expanse of space. There was no form in the emptiness that would suggest the shape of another person, let alone that of the imposing goddess. Yet… there was a presence, unseen but felt like a cold spot in the emptiness.
Not far away, the bodiless Discordia slumbered. Her energy cloistered around a center core and pulled tighter in on itself. Whatever happened had leeched much of her strength out of her essence, sending her deep into rest.
This was…weird. Was she even dead? She moved to stand, but something stirred in her lap, letting out a high pitched chirp.
A fuzzy, baby raven.
Taku staaaaaared in disbelief. She knew instantly, it was Chess. With tears in her eyes, she snuggled the bird, laughing softly with relief. After a moment together, she looked around to get her bearings.
That’s when she felt the presence. She moved in that direction, wanting to be closer to someone, anyone else in this abyss.
“…Hello?”
With no form, she had no voice to speak with. When she awoke- if the term could even apply anymore, the question had to be proved directly into Taku’s mind.
“What did you do?” Discordia’s presence broadcasted, swirling faster. “This is not- We have not- Where are we?!?”
The voice had come suddenly and the sensation so strange. “I was hoping you’d tell me! I don’t think we’re dead.”
“Fantastic. Eternal torment promised to me and my corporal body disintegrated.”
Her energy condensed itself into a vortex, churning the nothingness around them.
“I think we have asked the wrong question. We are not anywhere- as there is no more “places” as we know it. We are neither dead nor alive again. We simply… are.”
“And it is pissing me off.”
"How is that even possible?" She looks down at herself, then to Chess. "How do I have a body and you don't?"
