God I adore your writing so much!! could you maybe, if you have the time, write some wolfstar where they're fighting (for whatever reason) and remus raises his hand (maybe wants to point smth out or just because) but sirius gets the message all wrong because yay family and goes into complete panic mode because he's expecting to be hit? stay safe and have a wonderful day!
Turned into a mini fic but oh well. Hope you like it! :)
Remus stormed through the portrait hole, carelessly letting it swing behind him.
“Remus-“ Sirius only just caught the portrait in time, the wood slamming against his palm painfully, and stumbled into the common room after him, “Remus please. Listen to me-“
“Fuck off.” Remus spat over his shoulder. He made for the stairs leading to the dorms. He couldn’t talk to Sirius right now. The incident was still too fresh.
Sirius practically climbed over furniture in an attempt to keep up with him, “Moons-“ His foot got caught on a chair leg he fell, knees colliding with the floor. He didn’t have the strength to get up, “Please. I didn’t mean it, I… It was meant to be a joke-“
Remus whirled around at that, chest heaving and glaring down at Sirius, “A joke? That’s your definition of a joke? You’re fucking insane!”
Sirius’ hands shook as he reached out towards Remus, desperate to stop this, to get the hateful look off of Remus’ face, “Re-“
“Don’t touch me.” Remus jerked back, and Sirius stumbled to his feet.
“I didn’t mean it, Remus. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry-“
“I could have killed him!” Remus’ eyes are hard, unyielding, “I could have killed him, Sirius. Do you fucking-“ But then Remus closes his eyes, putting his hand up as if to block Sirius from his view, “You know what, I-“ But he just shakes his head, turning away.
And Sirius feels it. He feels Remus slipping away. He feels like his world could crumble any second. So he lunges, “Remus, no-“
Remus whirls around, “I said don’t touch me!” The motion brings his hand up, hovering near Sirius’ head.
And Sirius isn’t reaching anymore.
He’s flinching back so hard that he falls again, his head bangs into the underside of the table.
And then they’re frozen, Remus’ hand still in the air, wide eyes staring down at Sirius who’s curled halfway under the table. The air turns heavy, icy almost, but Remus is too shocked by what just happened to shiver. Sirius’ hands are up, palms out, his head turned into his shoulder, away from sight. His knees are curled into his chest. Remus doesn’t think he’ll ever get that image out of his head. He moves first, slowly, lowering his hand and sinking to his knees.
“Sirius…” His voice sounds like he hasn’t used it in days and it wavers, “Pads..”
“‘m fine.” Sirius’ voice is muffled and he doesn’t move his hands, “It’s fine.”
Remus shook his head, “No, Pads. It isn’t. It isn’t okay… Please, come here-“ He reached out but Sirius’s back jolted against the table again, “Shh… Pads, please I didn’t- I didn’t mean to-“
“I know. I’m okay.” Sirius voice is shaking though, his hands still unmoving.
Remus feels like crying, hands inches from Sirius, “Please Sirius-“ His voice breaks, “I would never. I would never…. Please.”
Remus reached out again, carefully - slowly - pressing his palm to Sirius’ shoulder. Sirius doesn’t flinch this time, more like leans in. He presses into Remus’ hand and then suddenly he’s falling against Remus’ chest, tucking his face into his neck.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Sirius repeats it over and over again and it mixes with Remus’ own ‘sorry’s.
They just hold each other, right there on the common room floor. Their problems don’t matter, the rest of the world doesn’t matter. It’s just Sirius and Remus and their whispered promises of how they’d never hurt one another, of how much they love each other.
How about wolfstar with number 5 for the cursed love prompts? Love your writing :)
Oh god. This. is so. SO sad. oh dear. (I also loved this prompt)
5. Character A’s touch hurts character B
“I can’t.” Remus was shaking his head, staring down at Sirius, hands outstretched, keeping him away, “Sirius I- I won’t.”
“Remus..” Sirius’ voice broke. His hands were outstretched too, but his were reaching, reaching for the only thing he could think about, the only thing he wanted, “Remus, please-“
“We had a deal.” Remus swallowed, his pain written all over his face, “We had to make the deal. We could- we could be together. We could, we are, we just can’t-“ Remus opened and closed his mouth a few times, eyes flitting over Sirius’ face. He was just as desperate for what they couldn’t have. Finally, he said softly, brokenly, “I won’t hurt you.” He shook his head once, defiant, “I won’t.”
Sirius’ face broke, tears escaped through his lashes, “Ple-“ He pressed his lips together mid-word. He had stepped forward, his heart aching at the way Remus had flinched back. He curled his hands into fists.
“Don’t.” Remus begged, tears of his own escaping, his back against the wall, “Sirius, you don’t know what last time did to me, you don’t…” Remus cursed, “God, I rolled over and woke up to- fuck, you were crying-.”
“That was an accident-“ Sirius pleaded.
“And so you think I’ll do it on purpose?”
Sirius’s breathing was uneven, “Please..”
Remus watched, eyes wide, as Sirius sank to his knees. He fought the urge to fall too, to gather Sirius in his arms. He was almost not strong enough.
Remus’ lip trembled, “Remus.. I just- You’re right there. You’re right there, you’re so close all the time and I can’t stand it if we can’t-“ He closed his eyes briefly, jaw clenching, before looking back to Remus, “I watched Lily hug you yesterday. At her party, her birthday… She hugged you and she kissed your cheek…“
Remus’ hand covered his mouth, trying to hold himself together as Sirius ducked his head, shoulders trembling.
“I don’t care if it hurts. I don’t fucking care, I’ll take it. I just need to-“ He looked up, shaking his head in disbelief, “I don’t know. I don’t know, I need to feel you. I- we-” His grey eyes were glassy against Remus’, “I have to… Re.”
Remus’s hands trembled, his breaths were ragged and felt like they didn’t quite make it through his lungs. He hadn’t thought he could go through with this. He had always been so careful, they had always been so careful and when the urge got too strong they had made do with small brushes of hands over the safe barrier of clothing, careful fingers through hair. And it had been… enough. Almost. Remus told himself it was enough, that they could survive like that. But seeing Sirius like this… pleading and desperate… he knew it wasn’t. It wasn’t enough. And it never had been. It never would be.
Remus felt himself sink to the ground, knees inches from Sirius’. His palms pressed nervously to his thighs. He longed to tilt Sirius’ bowed head up to look at him.
“You’ll tell me…”
Sirius’ head jolted up, eyes wide at how close Remus was.
Remus swallowed, “You’ll tell me if it’s too much. You pull away if it’s too much. Sirius, you pull away instantly-“
“Okay.” Sirius said breathlessly, “Okay.”
Remus felt a hot tear on his cheek, “I’m sorry.”
Sirius shook his head, leaning in so close that Remus felt his nervous breaths, “Don’t.”
It was tantalizing, how close he was. Remus could feel the pull, the oh-so familiar pull towards Sirius except a thousand times stronger. He could feel the heat of Sirius’ skin, making his eyes flutter shut.
“Sirius…”
Sirius’s breath hitched because he could sense how Remus’ lips moved around his name. He could almost feel the movement against his own.
“You promise..” Remus whispered.
“Yes.” Sirius breathed, but he hadn’t really heard the question. His brain yearned for Remus’ touch, his mouth, his skin and that was all there was, “Yes, yes-“
And Remus fell forward, pressing his lips to Sirius’ as hard as he could, his body feeling like it was a tightly drawn bow that had finally snapped.
It was silent for two, three, four beats. Then Sirius let out a noise, a soft, broken noise that caught in Remus’ soul darkening and lightening it at the same time. Sirius huffed into his mouth, a wine escaping with his breath, and was suddenly throwing his arms around Remus’ neck, pulling their chests flush together. His mouth opened, at the contact, then his jaw clenched against the burn, the familiar jolts of white pain that went hand in hand with pure happiness. He breathed hard against Remus’ skin, but refused to let go.
“Sirius-“
And Sirius was gasping, but not from the pain this time. Remus’ lips were pressed to the corner of his mouth, mumbling his name into his skin, loving him, making sure he was okay.
“Kiss me again.“ Sirius choked out, “Remus-“
But Remus’ mouth was already covering his own, palm cupping Sirius’ neck, the other running its way under Sirius’ shirt, desperately memorizing the way the smooth skin felt, the way this felt. Sirius whimpered, but promptly kissed Remus again when he started to mumble.
He was on fire, in the worst and best possibly ways. His hands pushed under the hem of Remus’ t-shirt, palms spanning over Remus’ ribs. His mouth dragged over his cheeks, his jaw, his pulse. This is what it feels like he thought, this is what its suppose to be like always.
Just him and Remus. Remus’ skin under his fingertips, against his lips, his for the taking.
Remus’ hands were shaking against his back. Sirius felt how nervous he was, how overwhelmed, and it only seemed to intensify the feeling of Remus’ skin against his own.
“Off-“ Remus gasped, “You- I need-“ He used his hands as leverage to yank off Sirius’ already hitched up shirt, pulling his own off with one motion. The contact burned, warm but searing.
Sirius cried out softly, nails digging into Remus’ back, “God-“
The heat was nearly unbearable, “Remus- Re-“
And Remus’ mouth was on his again— the only thing keeping him grounded. He tried to focus on it, to memorize every taste, every scent, every way each of Remus’ muscles moved underneath his touch. But it was like someone was pressing a white hot iron all around him, dragging it across his skin. He couldn’t help it. He let a sob out into Remus’ mouth.
He regretted it, hated himself for it instantly.
Because Remus was shuttering, mumbling a soft no into his mouth, and trying to push himself away.
“No, no, no-“ Sirius pleaded through his blurred vision. He squeezed his eyes shut, tears escaping. His hands cupped the back of Remus’ head, palms burning, throbbing, “Please, a little longer-“
Remus shushed him softly, chest moving rapidly, “I can’t-“ but he didn’t move away, his thumb stroked Sirius’ cheek, “not like this-“
Sirius kissed him again, tasting salt on their lips, and felt Remus kiss back just as desperately.
Just a little longer just a little longer just a little longer-
And Sirius must have made a noise, must have cried out, done something… because with a shuttering sound Remus was pushing himself away, back falling against the wall.
Sirius fell forward on his hands and knees, gasping for breath at the sudden relief, the sudden intense grief.
no not yet please not yet.
He tried to calm his breathing, to let the ringing in his ears die down. He let himself down onto the floor, curling in on himself, as if he were trying to keep the feel of Sirius’ skin trapped in his senses.
He didn’t know how long he had been layer there when he felt a large blanket drape fully around him, and not a moment after strong arms circling around him over that, an ankle hooking over his, fabric tangled between. He shuttered.
It wasn’t the same.
“We’ll break this.” He felt Remus’ breath against his ear, felt a slight twinge where his lip accidentally brushed it, “We will, Pads. One day… God, I promise you… I promise you one day.”
8. For wolfstar
Why are you so jealous?
James had caught onto it first. The hastily excused absences, the snappish comments, the silence at breakfast. He’d been the one to let Sirius on about it, in a casual way of course, simply enquiring if he’d noticed anything strange about Remus’ behavior lately. And by lately, he’d meant since Cole came into the picture. Sirius’ boyfriend, Cole. And Sirius hadn’t noticed before. He’d been perfectly content to be wrapped up in the thrill and fog of a new relationship. He honestly hadn’t given much else a second thought. Until now.
Now, he couldn’t stop noticing.
It’d started as confusion, the little ping in his chest every time Remus snapped at him, or left when he sat down. Or, as he had later figured out, every time him and Cole sat down. Then, over the weeks, it had slowly morphed into hurt, a stinging singe that left him grasping at conclusions. Until, finally, the sting reached the stage of anger. And all he wanted to know was why.
He wouldn’t stand a chance of finding this out until Christmas holidays. Cole had gone home, Sirius had opted not to. Cole had invited him to his but he’d declined, claiming they were too new and he wasn’t ready to do the whole family meet-and-greet, more scared that Cole would ask for a return-favor. Truthfully, he’d known Remus was staying, so he’d stayed. But he wasn’t about to tell his boyfriend that.
Whywhywhy.
Remus had left earlier than him from seeing James and Pete off. Sirius had caught the meaningful glance James had given him but had pretended not to, opting instead to give his mate one last wave then say a quick ‘Happy Christmas’ to Lily. He gave time to Remus to settle in the common room, not wanting him to have any inclination that he was trailing him or in any way attempting to track him down.
He had one question. Remus would answer one question, surely.
He stood by the portrait hole now, letting it swing shut behind him. Remus was curled in an arm chair by the fire, no doubt realizing Sirius was there but not looking up from his book.
Whywhywhy.
Sirius narrowed his eyes, set his shoulders, and took four long strides to flop into the armchair opposite him. Remus didn’t look up.
“That reading’s not due for three weeks.”
Sirius watched Remus take a breath in through his nose, slow and steady. He chewed on the inside of his lip for a moment, the firelight flickering warmly off his face, “Well. Won’t do itself.”
Sirius sat back in the chair a little, crossing then uncrossing his legs, folding then unfolding his fingers until he settled them awkwardly on the arm rests, “No. No, ‘suppose not.”
He waited, waited for what usually happen. For Remus to glance up after a few long seconds then sigh, mark his place, and put the book down in favor of instead leaning his chin in his hand and offering Sirius’ a wry smile, asking him what he’d like to do instead.
He waited and it didn’t come.
“Are you…” Sirius started, trailing off, losing nerve.
Remus’ jaw set, “Reading? Yes.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes, “Being a dick? Yes.”
He hated himself instantly for losing his temper, sucking in a sharp breath as if trying to reel it in. But at least Remus was looking at him now, no matter how cooly.
“What, play-thing’s gone, and suddenly you want to talk?”
Sirius spluttered, hands forming fists, “What- He isn’t- He is not a-“
“Oh, no? My mistake.”
And just like that, Remus was back to his book.
Sirius stood, positively fuming now. Ever nerve vibrated with anger at this boy in front of him who wasn’t making any sense, Sirius didn’t understand.
“Why… Why are you…” But he didn’t know what he wanted to say.
Whywhywhy.
Remus turned his page slowly, with the appearance of nonchalance, but Sirius could see the small tear that appeared on the inside corner from his grip, “Why, what?”
“Why…” Sirius dug his nails into his palms in frustration.
Remus’ jaw muscles jumped, teeth clenching, not looking up, “Why what, Sirius?”
“Why are you so jealous?”
And oh. Now that he’d said it, he knew that it had been what he was thinking.
Sirius’ chest heaved as he continued staring at Remus, Remus who sat frozen, eyes forward but never reading.
Sirius wanted answers to the question he hadn’t known he wanted to ask. He wanted a reason, an explanation as to why his best friend suddenly felt a thousand miles away.
He jumped when Remus slammed his book shut, eyes raising to Sirius. He was sitting, but Sirius felt small under the gaze, unsteady and unsure.
Then, in one motion, Remus was rising. His hand was warm on the back of Sirius’ neck, his lips rough on Sirius’ own, breath hot, tongue persistent. Sirius kept his eyes open for only a moment out of surprise. Of all the reasons he was expecting, this wasn’t one of them. For starters, he’d expected words, but this… this was reason enough. Sirius gave back as good as he got, hands fisting the material of Remus’ jumper, tilting his chin upward to match his pressure. It was rough, more breath and tongue than anything else, but it was definitely reason enough.
Remus’ chest heaved against his own when the pulled apart, his large palm keeping Sirius close. His voice was rough when he spoke, but sounding more like himself than he had in weeks.
“Does that answer your question?”
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Possessive Remus and a Christmas party.
The common room was ablaze. Fires roared in the grates, exploding snap sizzled in every corner. Sirius watched the scene by one of the large, stained glass windows, feeling the coolness of the snow falling outside against the back of his neck, a relief from the heat of the party within.
“Fuck yes—“ James stumbled slightly into the center of the room, Lily not far behind him, laughing but supporting him more than he was actually standing. James raised his bottle of butterbeer over his head, glasses sliding down his nose, “It’s fucking Christmas!”
His declaration was met with much too enthusiastic cheers from the room and Sirius laughed, letting out a loud woop and earning a finger point from a very drunk James Potter.
“Hm, well, look who we found here? Waiting like the slut he is,” Sirius heard footsteps stop behind him, “right under the mistletoe.”
Sirius swallowed, lowering his butterbeer from his lips and turning around, “Octavian. Who invited you?”
The taller boy smirked, flashing his straight teeth, his tongue peaking out to wet his lower lip, “You don’t think I belong in this party?”
“I think you’re a snake.”
Octavian stepped forward, “And what do you have against snakes? After all, you’re bred from them. Oh look,” His eyes flickered upward, “Now we’re both under it.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes at him, confused, before following his gaze. There, hung from a wooden beam above them, was a small sprig of mistletoe. Sirius rolled his eyes, “Fuck off.”
“What, you don’t want to kiss me?” Octavian’s hand was suddenly on Sirius’ hip.
Sirius knew that he could have simply pushed Octavian off. He could have not caused a scene that would most definitely be noticed—and encouraged—by their intoxicated onlookers. Instead, he raised his glass, still mostly full, and gracefully proceeded to throw the sugary liquid into Octavian’s perfect hair and teeth. The boy spluttered, his hand retreating to wipe at his eyes.
“Fucking hell, Black!“
“Excuse me.”
Sirius sidestepped him, easily avoiding the mess, and made his way over to Lily and Marlene who were laughing too hard over what they had clearly just witnessed.
“Merlin, Sirius,” Lily leaned into his open side hug, hitting his chest a few times, “That was something out of a muggle film.”
“No one gets that reference, Lily.” Marlene was practically bouncing on her toes, “Do you think it’s overkill if I go over there and do it too?”
“Sirius had a reason to, you can’t do it.”
“Sirius had a reason to do what?”
The three of them looked up at Remus, who had appeared by Sirius’ shoulder, his hand resting gently on his waist, his cheek dropping briefly against Sirius’ temple as a hello.
“Octavian over there was trying to trap Sirius under some mistletoe—I mean, honestly, I think James hung it everywhere specifically for you, Lils.” Marlene rolled her eyes, “Anyway, you missed a great show.”
“A show?” There was an edge to Remus’ voice, and Sirius instantly imagined what he must be thinking they meant by ‘show.’
He raised his empty glass, “He’ll smell like caramel for weeks, courtesy of Padfoot.”
“Oh.” He sounded relieved, but Sirius didn’t feel his muscles relax, “Well. Serves him right.”
Marlene let out a little laugh, eyes flicking up and down Remus, “Alright there, Lupin?”
“Fine. Sirius?” Suddenly there was a hand in Sirius’ and he was being tugged away, only just managing to hand Lily his empty glass.
“Re—“ Sirius laughed as he stumbled a bit, “Okay, you have to remember that you are dragging a slightly intoxicated person behind you who may—fuck—“ Sirius narrowly avoiding smashing into a side table with his hip, “may not be the best at maneuvering right now.”
Remus halted, drawing Remus to his chest as they reached the foot of the stairs. Sirius let out a whoosh of breath at the sudden halt and looked up at Remus. His hair was fluffed out around his ears from the eat of the fire, his scars pink like the flush of his cheeks. His hands, for once, weren’t cold against the bare strip of skin beneath Sirius’ jumper.
“Sorry, love.” Remus mumbled, but that was all he said before—more gently—pulling Remus up towards the dormitories.
“Hm, I like this direction.” Sirius laughed as he followed Remus through the door, only to have it cut off as he was pushed against it, causing it to close with a slam, rattling the mirror to their left.
“Fuck.” Sirius mumbled as Remus loomed over him, palms already pressing to his cheeks, “I really like this direction.”
“I’ve always hated that fucker.” Sirius opened his mouth to respond but Remus’ thumb was there, running over his lower lip and making Sirius’ words cut off in a soft gasp, “Mistletoe…Who the hell does he think he is…”
And Sirius felt it, as he always did when Remus got like this. The tingle under his skin, the spike in his blood.
“Fuck.” He mumbled again. His fingers dug into Remus’ sweater and he pulled him closer, smiling, “You don’t have to wait for mistletoe, do you, love?”
“I definitely do not. Think people need to learn that already…” Remus leaned down, pressing a hard kiss to Sirius’ mouth, his arms wrapping fully around his body to pull him away from the wall and closer to his chest.
Sirius leaned forward, pressing onto his toes and looped his arms around Remus’ neck. They stayed like that for a moment, enjoying the silence for the most part, but laughing at the occasional muffled cheering that rose from downstairs.
“Do you recon James is dancing on a table, or something?” Remus said quietly, nose bumping into Sirius’ as he spoke.
“Do you really care?” Sirius pushed his fingers into Remus’ hair, “Can’t we stay here? Octavian is down there…don’t want him getting his hands on me ag—”
“That’s enough—“ Remus laughed, stopping Sirius’ words with a kiss, peppering them against his lips, “Guess I just have to resort to stealing you away up here.”
Sirius grinned up at him, eyes flicking over his face, looking warm even in the dim room, “Guess so.”
Remus’ thumb brushed across his cheekbone, “Where only I can have you.”
“Well,” Sirius pressed another soft kiss to Remus’ mouth, “I think that’s true no matter where we are, don’t you?”
What's it like being an auror? I heard you were one of the youngest back in the day
Remus: DORA!
Remus: *sighs* Well… certainly explains a lot.
I have a request! So Basically it takes place when the marauders are in school, maybe around year 5 and Sirius is distancing himself from the others, even Lils cuz his boyfriend is kinda abusive and controlling and Remus finds out and asks for help from James and Pete or maybe lils.... idk I just like the concept and maybe Sirius and Remus get in a fight and “Why do you even care about me, Re?!” “Because I love you, Sirius!” And they do that cliche kiss. Thanks if you do!
So, I sort of strayed a bit from the prompt but I hope you enjoy anyway!!
Remus was sure the thought that he would gladly murder Alex Silenson without even a blink entered his head at least once a day. It didn’t matter where they were. Charms? He’d be careful not to get blood on the summoning cushions. The Great Hall? Well, he supposed some people losing their appetite was a risk he’d have to take. The dorms? He’d close Alex’s curtains and worry about the body later.
They were dark thoughts, but since Alex was the someone who got to kiss Sirius Black on a daily basis, Remus deemed them appropriate.
They had just entered Transfiguration, and McGonagall was poised primly at the front of the room, a fluffy bird in hand that made Remus feel almost positive they would each be taking home their very own fluffy feather dusters at the end of the day.
“Settle down, please, and take your seats. You’ll each find an owl has been provided for you. Please do not extract them from their cage until I say so.”
Remus felt a shoulder bump his and he looked over, finding Sirius’ bright, gray eyes, “Wha’do you reckon Minnie will do if I set our two free?”
Remus raised an eyebrow, “You know Pads, people are going to stop recognizing you soon, you’re in detention so often.”
Sirius just laughed, sliding his bag off his shoulder and slouching down onto the desk bench beside Remus. Remus set his bag down more carefully, rummaging for his notebook, when a shadow fell over them.
“Sirius, what are you doing?”
Remus froze, fingers tightening around the binding of his Transfiguration book, and kept himself well bent over his bag, heart sinking.
He felt the weight of Sirius’ pause in response to his boyfriend’s question, and felt the even heavier, forced laugh that followed.
“What do you mean, Al?”
Remus straightened up then, setting his quill and ink in front of him. He felt Alex’s gaze flicker to him and returned it only briefly, flashing what he hoped was a casual smile. His shoulders, tense and nervous, were anything but casual. Alex looked back to Sirius.
“I think you missed the perfectly free seat next to me.”
Sirius set his textbook on the desk, “I just thought I might, y’know, change it up a bit.” He sent Alex another grin, but it faltered under Alex’s gaze, “I—I mean, just for today—“
“Come on.” Alex picked up Sirius’ textbook, and proceeded to stalk towards the back of the room with it.
Remus, inexplicably to himself, suddenly felt a strange sort of panic. They both watched him go for a moment, and then Sirius looked back, the light gone from his eyes.
“Pads.” But Remus didn’t know what he wanted to say. What could he say? You don’t have to go. Please stay. He’s not good he’s not good he’s not.
“I’ll catch up with you tonight.” Sirius supplied a weak smile, shouldering his bag. He dropped his voice to a whisper, just for Remus, “Kitchens for cake?”
Remus nodded, almost minutely, afraid someone might see. And he hated that, hated feeling like he was disobeying some law for wanting to be with Sirius. Alex was just a boy, and a bad one at that.
You don’t have to sit with him.
But Sirius was already gone.
~
Remus was glad, at least, that Alex wasn’t in their year. He was in the seventh year dorms, an entire staircase away from their sixth year ones. That also meant that Sirius was also generally a staircase away too. As he was tonight. While Remus put slippers and a sweater on to venture down to the kitchens, he looked at Sirius’ empty, unmade bed. That was the part that had been the hardest to get used to in the beginning. Surprisingly not Alex’s presence all the time, disrupting the dynamic of their group, but the lack of Sirius’ presence. He was almost never around anymore. It had gotten to the point where class was their biggest social event. Remus put his sweater over his head angrily, but the bed was still empty when he came out the other side.
He opened the dorms door, trodding lightly down the stairs and into the common room.
“Hey,” James grinned up at him from the loveseat by the fire, head in Lily’s lap, “wanna bring me back a slice?”
Lily looked up from the book she was reading, “Oh, me too?”
Remus rolled his eyes, laughing, “Well sure, but I don’t know how late it’ll be.” He nodded at James, “How was Quidditch earlier?”
James flopped his Charms textbook open on his chest, “Quid got cancelled. Something about rogue plants from the greenhouse…” He trailed off, then shrugged, “Didn’t want to get involved.”
“Huh.” Remus was only half listening, already moving towards the portrait hole, mind on being alone with Sirius, “Well, two slices of cake. Got it.”
Remus loved the castle at night. It was quiet, and he could trail his fingertips along the walls and swing around corners. He could get a good look at all the portraits without the portraits looking back. It wasn’t a long walk, just down a lot of stairs, past the Hufflepuff common room. As he eased the wooden door open, he saw only a few house elves lingering about, flashing him smiles, but no Sirius.
He got nervous for a moment, glancing around at the huge fire places and polished tables, mind automatically racing through how long he should wait before accepting that maybe Sirius wasn’t coming—
“Moons! Over here.”
Remus turned, relief flooding his system, “Oh, there you—“
Sirius winced, but whether it was from the look on Remus’ face, or the black and blue on the high of his left cheek, Remus wasn’t sure.
“Fuck.” Remus maneuvered around the tables quickly to get to Sirius, stopping directly in front of him. He reached out, unable to help himself, then stopped, fingertips inches from Sirius’ cheek, “What the hell?”
Sirius waved him off, he ducked away, instead pushing the cake towards Remus to slice up, “S’nothing.”
“Sirius.” Cool dread was starting to trickle into Remus’ veins. If this was what he thought, he thought he’d take all those stairs two at a time back up to the common room and strangle Alex in his sleep. “Sirius, what happened?”
“Nothing.” Sirius smiled up at him, shaking his head, “Nothing, Re. Fletchner got a little rough in Quidditch today, that’s all.”
And the dread wasn’t cool, it was ice, freezing over and thawing and freezing again. Remus saw James from a few moments ago, sprawled in the common room.
Quid got cancelled.
Remus didn’t realize he was still standing, inches from Sirius, until Sirius scooted his chair back, trying to play it off like he was giving Remus room to pull his own chair out.
“Should I cut the cake instead, then?”
Remus sat down slowly. He didn’t think he could even smell the cake, much less eat it right now, his stomach was in too many knots.
Alex put his hands on you. He wanted to scream, He knows everything you’ve been through and he put his hands on you.
I’d be better. This was the part of his brain he tried so hard to quiet, I’d love you so much, I already do.
Alex hit you. You’re lying for him.
“Why are you—“ Remus didn’t know why the words were stuck in his throat.
Sirius pushed right on ahead, “I’ll cut it then.” he pulled the plate towards him with a huff, picking up the knife with a white-knuckled grip.
And Remus let him. His hand was steady, despite the grip, and Remus wanted to shake him, to pull the truth out of him.
“I…” Remus swallowed, “I was just going to say. Why are you always so reckless in practice?” His voice shook against the force of the lie, “You know how James will mother you.”
“You know how James gets in practice. Crazy lad.” And just like that, any sign of Sirius breaking, any sign of the mask cracking, was gone, spello-taped back together, and he was smiling, pushing a generous slice of chocolate towards Remus.
And Remus smiled back, almost feeling relief, because it was never like this anymore. There was always someone else around. He wanted to push, wanted to get Sirius to tell him what really happened, but at the same time he wanted to believe that it hadn’t happened. Because it was never like this anymore. Always a boyfriend, or a class to be getting back to. He hated it. He hated it, and he loved this. This, these quiet moments.
“Right.” Remus picked up his fork, “Right, yeah, I do.”
He felt Sirius’ eyes on him as he took a bite, but when he looked up they had flitted away.
“Anyway,” Sirius was saying, “it isn’t as bad as it looks. He wasn’t even going for my face he was just…” Remus watched Sirius’ expression get a little foggy, eyes far away, back in the moment of the hit, whomever’s hand it had been, “into the game I guess.” Sirius blinked, looking down and stabbing at his cake, “Happens to all of us, right?”
No. Remus thought. No, it doesn’t.
~
Remus barely jerked as his copy of the daily prophet was pulled from his hands. Alex grinned at him, food in his mouth.
“Mind if I have a look?’
Remus looked at him deadly, flicking away the small corner of newsprint that had ripped in his fingers, and picked up his fork, “Didn’t give me much of a choice.”
Alex laughed, and flatted the paper next to his eggs and sausage. He barely raised his head as he pushed his glass towards Sirius, “Poor me some pumpkin juice?”
Remus stabbed his fork into his eggs and looked determinedly downward. He didn’t want to watch Sirius get pushed around.
He heard Sirius’ voice with an edged, seemingly casual laugh to it, “S’right there.”
Remus couldn’t help it. He glanced up then, neck still bowed down, through his eyelashes, and watched Alex’s face change. He straightened, fingers drumming on Remus’ stollen paper. He was staring hard at the table, muscle working in his jaw, “So?”
Sirius was looking just as hard at his own copy of the prophet, turned slightly away from Alex. Remus could see his bruise more harshly at this angle, “So, I’m saying it’s perfectly in your reach.”
“Why are you being difficult?’ Alex’s teeth were clenched and the phrase came out a bite, “It’s just juice.”
“I’m not.” Sirius drained the rest of his own glass and made a move to get up, “I’ve got class—“
“Sit.”
Remus straightened in a second, feeling James do the same beside him. He had a feeling that both of their eyes were trained on Alex’s tight grip on Sirius’ shoulder, so high up that it was nearly his neck.
“He has class.” Remus heard himself say, “What’s your issue?”
“It’s just,” James parroted, eyes cool, “juice.”
Sirius closed his eyes, lowering himself back to his seat. His shoulders were hunched away from the grip, head turned awkwardly to the side. Remus was ready to lunge across the table.
“What?” Alex looked between him and James, eyes cool, smile verging on wicked, “It’s not big deal. We’re just sorting this out, right Siri?” When Sirius didn’t answer right away, Alex reached forward, palm against Sirius’ jaw, and stroked the greening bruise on Sirius’ cheek with his thumb, “Right, Sirius?”
“Stop.” Remus felt all the air leave his lungs with the word, “Stop.” He was standing, hands pushing the juice pitcher right into Alex’s lap where it spilt, sloshing its contents all over his robes.
“Jesus fucking—“
But Remus didn’t stop to hear his exclamations. His eyes were on Sirius, on the way he was still trying to make himself small. Remus felt something in him snap at the sight, felt some string inside his chest slowly springing part and unraveling. And he let it, suddenly wishing it had snapped a long time ago, and stepped onto and over the long great hall table in one stride, making it to Sirius’ side, and taking his bag from the seat for him.
“Pads.” He glanced nervously to where Alex was still spluttering, throwing vague curses at the laughing onlookers, then back to Sirius. Remus didn’t know how to tell him that he needed him to follow him. He didn’t want to sound demanding, not like Alex. He didn’t want to grab Sirius in any forceful way, but he needed, needed him to know, “Sirius.” He whispered, his fingertips just barely brushing the side of Sirius’ palm where it was flat against the table.
And Sirius looked up from the floor, saw Remus with their bags, and swung his legs out of the bench. He walked ahead of Remus out of the great hall, fist clenched. He didn’t look back to see if Remus was following him until they had made it a good four floors above the Great Hall and into an darkened hallway.
Only then did he turn around, cheeks wet, chest rising unevenly. And Remus was right there, dropping their bags to the floor carelessly. Remus wasn’t sure if he was allowed, he didn’t know what made him do it, but his hands were on Sirius’ cheeks, carefully avoiding the bruise.
“I—“ Sirius’ chest jump, breathing harsh and face breaking, “I don’t know why I didn’t tell you. I don’t know why—“
And Remus’ own chest ached with the look on his face, like he’d done something wrong, like Remus would be mad. He was anything but mad at Sirius, if anything he was angry with himself.
“You didn’t have to tell me.” Remus shook his head, “I knew. I knew the second—“ Remus closed his eyes, dropping his head, “And I didn’t say anything. I don’t know why either.” He felt the burn of tears in his throat and he looked back at Sirius, thumbs stroking the new tears away, “I hoped I was wrong. I wanted to be wrong so bad.”
“I wanted it to have not happened.” Remus could feel Sirius leaning into his touch as he spoke, and his heart picked up, “I wish it never happened, I wish all of it never happened—“
Remus shushed him softly, thumb moving to press a curl of hair off his temple, trying desperately to make it better, “I know. I know, I…” His words trailed off, breath dying in his lungs at how Sirius had suddenly pressed their foreheads together. “Sirius.” His voice barely came out.
“You’re so gentle, Re.” Sirius’ hands came up to Remus’ neck, one resting at the back of it, the other pressing over the back of Remus’ palm, “Always, you’re so… It’s everything. With everyone, it doesn’t matter who it is, but I feel it so much. In the way you look and touch and speak.” Sirius let out a soft sniff. He was still crying, but he was practically cradling Remus’ face now, instead of the other way around, palm having moved to Remus’ cheek, Remus’ dropped to Sirius’ chest. Sirius’ words were quiet, even in the space between them, “What have I been doing? Remus, what have I been doing?”
Remus let out a breath, “I…” They were so close. Remus was desperate. He could just lean forward and…That was what Sirius was saying wasn’t it? But after what had just happened he pulled up short. His hands moved to Sirius’ neck, feeling his heated skin, but he willed himself back, “God, Pads, your cheek. You need—“ Remus shook his head, “I can’t believe he hit you.”
Sirius closed his eyes, “I can’t believe I let him. Jesus, I could stand up to my mother, and not to him?”
“It’s not your fault, Pads—“
“No, I know.” Sirius closed his eyes, lashes brushing his cheeks, “I know, I just. I feel—“ He looked at Remus again, really looked at him, eyes flicking to each part of his face. His gaze burned, “I feel awake. Or something. I feel like I’ve been wasting time.”
“Wasting time?” Remus whispered. Sirius pushed the hair off of Remus’ forehead, palm a warm pressure that made Remus’ eyes close, his voice shake, “What do you m—“
Sirius kissed him instead of letting him finish, hard and insistent, salty and gentle. His fingers held Remus’ neck softly, thumb brushing over Remus’ bottom lip when they broke for air, “This.”
Remus let out a breath and pulled their mouths back together, suddenly unaware of how he ever survived before this second. Sirius’ words were muffled against his mouth,
“I mean this.”
Remus’ back hit the wall and then they were pressed together, “God—“ Remus couldn’t help it, he started smiling, “Pads.”
Sirius’ lips moved from his lips to his cheek, his jaw, “What’s so funny?” He pressed a lingering kiss to Remus’ cheek, “I’ve wanted to do this for so fucking long, Merlin, there’s so many of them.”
Remus laughed, pure, giddy, relief-filled and borderline tearful, “What?” He threaded his hands in Sirius’ dark hair, bent to press a kiss just above the collar of his shirt, “What?”
“Freckles.” Sirius sighed, “I love them.” His lips peppered kiss after kiss, “I love them, I love them, I’ve been wasting so much time, Merlin.”
Remus shushed him, thumbing over his bottom lip, “We’ll make it up. It’s okay, god, my cheeks hurt.” They both laughed, “Those tides turned quickly.”
“Well.” Sirius brushed their noses together, “You always make everything better, it seems.”
Remus bit his lip, grin softening. He carded his fingers through Sirius’ hair a few times, felt the way he leaned into it, “I don’t really feel like sitting in class. Do you want to… I don’t know, grab breakfast in the kitchens? Maybe bring it back to the dorms…” His eyes trailed down to Sirius’ lips, and he watched has they parted slightly before shifting into a grin, eyes bright.
“That,” He leaned down, picking up their bags before lacing Remus’ fingers with his own, “feels like all I’ve wanted forever.”
Remus pressed a kiss to Sirius’ knuckles, “Well, we’d better go then.”
I love your stuff if you're not busy cud u do a hc where Sirius is out at the park walking padfoot when remus(who only goes to the park to watch the sexy dog walker)walks by and padfoot runs around them tying them together face to face with the leash
Hi! Sorry I didn’t get to this sooner. I was much more exhausted after celebrating Sirius’s birthday than I thought I would be.
Thanks so much! <3 Let’s see what I can do for you.
Remus had started going to the park for the simplicity of the cool autumn air rustling the turning leaves on the oak trees and gently hitting his face, and the peace of mind that gave him the best kind of inspiration for his fantasy stories.
He returned to the park because every afternoon around 4:30 a handsome, no, a sexy man, with long black hair that fell just past his shoulder blades and a face worthy of the front cover of GQ came with his bear-sized, black dog.
Three weeks this went on, and each day remus noticed something different, something new and exciting about the sexy dog walker.
He was a snappy dresser. Most times Remus had seen him he had been donning a fitted gray blazer (that he would later learn matched the color of his eyes) over some band t-shirt and jeans that left nothing to his imagination.
He was very good with the dog named Padfoot. In all twenty-one days Remus had been watching them over the top of his notebook he had never seen the dog wander too far off the path and was very obedient. It was almost as thought they shared a soul, those two, and it was endearing.
But the most important thin Remus had noticed was that there was no sign (no ring, to be precise) that the sexy dog walker was in any sort of serious relationship.
On day 22, Remus finally got the courage to say something to him.
He sat at his usual spot, a bench in front of the marble fountain, and waited. When he and Padfoot were about to reach him, he stood.
“I..sorry. Hello.” Smooth. Very smooth.
“Hi.” The sexy dog walker smiled and Remus struggled to remember where he was and what he was doing because it was even more dazzling up close.
But he had nothing. In fact he reckoned he looked like a fish out of water, flapping his jaw open and shut as he searched for words.
Imagine, a writer searching for words. The irony was so thick he could taste it.
“Um, did you need something?”
Remus felt his heart sink. He had made it awkward before he even knew the man’s name.
He took a step back, determined to sit down before he made even more a fool of himself. Maybe he could bury his face so deep within the pages of his latest fantasy novel that he could simply melt into the pages and become a part of the story.
That’s when he felt the leash catch his calf.
Instead of falling backwards however, which was what he had expected, he fell forward, and the pressure around his calf increased and traveled to the other calf.
He heard the sexy dog walker raise his voice.
“Padfoot, no! Stop!”
But it was too late.
He and the sexy dog walker were pressed flush, the tips of their noses smashed together, and their lips so close that Remus thought it would have been a miracle to slip a sheet of paper between them.
They stayed like that for a moment, eyes locked (damn, they were beautiful), and riding on the other’s nervous breathing.
And…was there a hand on his ass?
There was definitely a hand on his ass, and it wasn’t moving.
To be fair, he wasn’t protesting.
The sound of a dog “speaking” caught their attention and they looked to the side to see Padfoot sitting happily beside them, tongue hanging out the side of his mouth.
They were silent a moment before they started laughing and leaning into one another.
“You know, this isn’t how I pictured asking you on a date.”
Remus’s cheeks burned hot, but he laughed.
“I can say the same.”
The sexy dog walker smiled again, and Remus still wasn’t sure he had recovered from the last smile to handle another.
“Name’s Sirius, and I hope you like big, knucklehead dogs.”
“Remus, and I love big, knuckle headed dogs.”
Story Time~
Regulus: Once Sirius and I were travelling with mother and there was a sign that read “Watch for Children”.
Sirius: Yeah and mother said, “That sounds like a pretty fair trade”.
Walburga Black
Walburga (to Orion): Listen, Sirius is a disappointment and is an embarrassment to the entire family...
Orion Black: I'm well aware of that.
Sirius: I'm right here you know...
Walburga: But I did not give birth to the most beautiful boy in the wizarding world to have him be married off to pug-face Parkinson. Think of our grandchildren!
Sirius: Didn't think of that when you married your cousin...
Andromeda:(to the entire family) My boyfriend is muggleborn
Narcissa: (to herself) Oh no. She’s about to get more attention than me
The Black Sisters || The Three Brothers
Bellatrix died for power. She lived for it, too, trying to help Voldemort take over and rid the world of the people they deemed inferior.
Andromeda didn’t die for lost love, but the love she gave up her life for died. She left the Black family for Ted only to lose him as well as their only daughter and son-in-law.
Narcissa greeted death like an old friend. She lied to Voldemort to protect her son, aware that doing so could very well get her killed but not caring because her family was more important.
It’s a Black thing...
It wasn’t until they started dating that Remus noticed. Before he had tried not to look at Sirius too often in class. He didn’t want to make his feelings to obvious.
But now that he could look at him as much as he wanted he noticed everything.
The look of pain on his face that lasted only a blink every time a teacher called him Mr. Black. The way he slightly jumped at quick movements and tried to hide it with a laugh. How he would position himself protectively in front of his friends when someone screamed at them without even noticing.
And then there was the shaking…
It happened from time to time when Sirius was writing and it started to worry Remus. A lot. So he payed closer attention and noticed a pattern. The shaking would occur every time Sirius made a mistake while writing or when his handwriting became messy.
At first he tried to ignore it. He was sure that Sirius wouldn’t want to talk about it. But it made him feel unsettled. He couldn’t do much about the other things he had noticed but maybe he could actually help with the shaking…
So a few days later when they were alone he asked him about it. They were lying on Sirius bed. Sirius was finishing his potions essay and Remus lay on his back his head on Sirius’ stomach.
“Why do you do that?” Sirius looked at him questioningly.
“Do what?” Remus pointed at his yet again shaking hand.
“Writing the essay? Well, I’m sure I mentioned several times that there are probably a million things I would rather do but you insisted so…”
“Not that. I mean… the shaking…” Sirius looked at him surprised, then put on a neutral face again.
“It’s nothing. Just happens sometimes.”
“I see… you are aware that I won’t stop asking until you either tell me or explain to me why exactly you won’t tell me?” Sirius sighed.
“It’s a Black thing…”
“Go on.”
“As the heir of the ‘nobel and most ancient house of Black’ I was more or less expected to be perfect in everything. You know… otherwise I would bring dishonour onto the family name and so on… So when I was taught how to write my family came up with this funny little idea. They though it would make me learn faster if they put a charm on my quill that made it jab itself into my hand every time I made a mistake or got messy. It was a bloody affair during the first few weeks, I can tell you.” He gave a dry laugh.
“You can’t be serious?!” He shushed Sirius before he could even attempt any kind of pun. “They really did this to you?”
“You know how they are. At least they were decent enough to heal my wounds afterwards.” Sirius shrugged his shoulders and kept on writing. Remus stared at him in disbelief. Just when he though he couldn’t hate Sirius’s parents any more… Remus noticed that Sirius was concentrating harder now, probably to prevent any further shaking. It still happened again a few minutes later. Sirius avoided Remus’ gaze but this didn’t mean he would give up. He reached his hand up to Sirius’ neck and brough his face down to kiss him. Sirius smiled at him.
“What was that for?”
“Nothing. Keep going.” He pointed at the essay. Another 3 minutes later Sirius’ ‘H’ was not as neat as it should be and his hand began to shake again. Like before Remus reached up, brought his face down and kissed him. This time Sirius gave him an ‘I know what you’re doing there’ look but Remus just made his most innocent face and the other kept on writing. This process of shaking and kissing repeated itself a few times and Remus noticed that Sirius was making more and more mistakes…
In the following week Sirius insisted on doing his school work only with Remus in reach. Never in his six years at Hogwarts had Remus seen him making that many mistakes. He realised that his plan had a big weakness. And that was Sirius’ enthusiasm for make out sessions.
Remus’ plans rarely didn’t work out. And when he watched Sirius write ‘acording’ instead of ‘according’ without any sign of shaking by the end of the week, he knew that this plan had worked out. Even if a bit differently than expected…
