The Call

I have heard it all my life,

A voice calling a name I recognized as my own.

Sometimes it comes as a soft-bellied whisper. Sometimes it holds an edge of urgency.

But always it says: Wake up my love. You are walking asleep. There's no safety in that!

Remember what you are and let this knowing take you home to the Beloved with every breath.

Hold tenderly who you are and let a deeper knowing colour the shape of your humanness.

There is no where to go. What you are looking for is right here. Open the fist clenched in wanting and see what you already hold in your hand.

There is no waiting for something to happen, no point in the future to get to. All you have ever longed for is here in this moment, right now.

You are wearing yourself out with all this searching. Come home and rest.

How much longer can you live like this? Your hungry spirit is gaunt, your heart stumbles. All this trying. Give it up!

Let yourself be one of the God-mad, faithful only to the Beauty you are.

Let the Lover pull you to your feet and hold you close, dancing even when fear urges you to sit this one out.

Remember- there is one word you are here to say with your whole being. When it finds you, give your life to it. Don't be tight-lipped and stingy.

Spend yourself completely on the saying. Be one word in this great love poem we are writing together.

This can be forever..

I want to give you my forever, but until forever, promise me that you will never forget that moment when you too first thought.. This can be forever. Because we will change, we will grow, we will be happy ... So happy that we sit back and wonder "God, do I really deserve her?" And we will be sad.. So sad at times where we wonder if it's all worth it.. Remembering forever will come easy to you when the happiness of our connection makes us smile even when we aren't in each others presence.. But it won't be so easy when we are hurt or sad and the tears burn hot against our tired faces... It won't always be easy. But in those times please remember when you thought .. This can be forever.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to pick yourself up off the floor even though it feels like the weight of the world is bearing down on you...

Good Vibes HERE

More often than not when talking to my dad, God and the Bible inevitably get brought into the conversation. When I was younger I dreaded these types of conversations so much that I would avoid speaking with my dad all together so to not have to deal with the “burden” of discussing God. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate our discussion more and more. I began to understand that God saved my dad’s life, and God in fact has saved mine more times than I can count. Anyways, so last night I called my dad – needing direction. I’ve come to learn that I do not have all the answers.. in fact… I rarely have the right answer. So my dad and I were talking and he brought up that when he councils people he always brings that back to Genesis chapter one and chapter two. He does this because this is the first time in the Bible that it is described the world that God intended for us before then entrance of sin into the world. He then goes on to talk about how this “Utopia” is not reintroduced until Revelations chapter 22. So, from Genesis chapters 1 and 2 all the way to Revelation the world portrayed is in a constant state of emergency. The world and the people in it were no longer living in accordance with what was originally intended and because of that everything that took place was a result of straying from that original design. As I talked about this to my dad, something hit me and for a brief moment, I felt God blessed me with a massive amount of clarity – not only with regard to the situation I am dealing with currently – but with my life as a whole. When we are born we are in fact perfect – we are exactly as God intended. Then as we grow up life experiences take place and often we are separated from the vision of what God intended and we begin to live life in a state of emergency. We make reactionary choices, we seek instant gratification, and we often make split-decisions that in the long run often have hugely negatives impacts on our lives. The only way to get out of this state of emergency is to focus on yourself and get back to the person that God intended you to be. Sounds simple right? Hardly. Returning to who we are intended to be is in fact I believe a lifelong pursuit. We will continue to have experiences both positive and negative, however unless we are grounded in who we are as a person – we will continue to live life in a reactionary state. Returning to your true self takes true transparency – with yourself and with those around you. It takes daily evaluations of looking yourself in the mirror and embracing yourself flaws and all – while acknowledging the areas that require a “work.” It can be daunting if you try to take on this task alone… and I realized that the past few months – I’ve made strides in the right direction but I was trying to do it alone. I feel like I’m rambling at this point… but it was important for me to write this down. To be able to come back to this and remind myself when I want to be lazy, when it seems easier to be content with my life as is vs. what my life could be.

Laying here, sunshine beaming through the window, hitting my skin and creating little sun freckles. Sometimes I think God gave us then sun so we can feel his warmth. It makes his presence almost tangible. Like I could reach out and touch a single ray of light and feel that much closer to God. Reminding myself that I am in his presence during good times and in bad times. It's comforting, knowing there is a higher being who knows my heart, who feels my happiness and my pain and whose presence never fades. As the sun shines down on me I'm granted moment of peace, a brief moment of silence and clarity. Even if it is only for a fleeting moment, those little rays of sun remind me that everything will be alright, even if I cannot see it. Everything will be alright.

Everyone that enters your life has something you can learn from. You might not of appreciated someone a year ago if you would have crossed paths, be-it you were in a different place in your life. But if they are in it now, there is a purpose. Now their place in your life makes sense. Everyone you meet is an opportunity for growth. Appreciate them.
