Men consistently say they don’t want to hurt a woman’s feelings but they do it in ways that seem so ridiculous, uncaring, and avoidable. Many men project that having a relationship is a bad thing – that all women are a hassle or take up too much time because they have been in relationships with unhealthy women in the past. It’s not fair to those of us who are healthy, self-sufficient, independent, creative, and understanding. I’m not your ex-girlfriend or your ex-wife. Don’t date a law student.

I have been there from the start. From the moment he had his doubts about pushing through with it, to getting accepted, to his first day – I was there. Entering a relationship with a man knowing that the next 5 years of his life will be dedicated to sleepless nights with his codal, writing hundreds of cases, time and stress management, and preparing for legal war in class was and still is hard. It gets harder everyday. 

So, here’s why you should not date a law student.

As I type this, I’m already short of words to write for you. It’s been my best way I can express myself but given the situation, presence is the only thing I know that can truly lighten up your burdens. As you read this, you may already be anticipating what I’m up to again but I assure you, you will like it. I made it simple, just the way you like it.

At first, I honestly did not know what to do. We both know you were always the stronger, rational, and patient one. This time, I will take that roll for you to ease the pain you’re going through and to help you to stand up again. To my brave and strong man, the recent tragedy may have brought you down on your knees, down to tears, and down to your weakest point but what happened is a known fact. Life is tough my love, but so are you. Currently, nothing more can replace the loss you’re experiencing but I will do my best to make you feel that there will be more that you will gain. Trust in Him, He will lead you, together with your mom, like how He made me realize that I should be your helping hand today and everyday of our lives. It’s going to be a long process but I will always be here no matter what. Remember, you will always be a blessing to your family, friends, and me. Happy birthday, my Jaijai! I love you always!
