You’re probably right. I’m just overreacting, huh?
I’m always right. But it’s sweet you’re so concerned. Maybe you could owl him? Invite him away from the majesty of his schoolbooks for an impromptu sort of fling. That’s romantic, too.
I'm just not one to do that. [chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck] It's not a bad idea though. But what if he doesn't answer it?
Maybe he’s just busy studying. Exams are literally the bane of my existence at the moment, and I know I’m not the only one.
You're probably right. I'm just overreacting, huh?
He did! Well maybe he’s just as nervous as you are? I mean Logan and I still get all weird on big events. It’s only natural though. Plus exams are coming up. I think everyone is just running around crazy.
Maybe he is. Ugh this is frustrating, Pep! All I wanna do is see him and with everything going on...I'm just worried. But you're probably right. Exams is most likely what it is. Oi....exams.
You haven’t shared any of these details with me and I’m a tad offended.
Oh Pep! I'm sorry. I haven't told anyone. But Harley agreed to go on a date with me and ever since, I haven't seen him. You don't think he's avoiding me, do you?
It’s a bit overly-romantic, sure. Not bad, though, I don’t think.
I haven't seen him since he agreed to our date...oi
And we still haven't gone on it.
Is it bad to miss someone you're not even dating yet?
Anyone
I’d be up for it.
You sure? How are you feeling?
Anyone
feel like dueling? Just for good-sport.
The Quidditch Pitch | Adelaide & Nik
Adelaide was dressed casually. She didn’t see any need to dress up for a boy she was teaching how to fly. Adelaide pulled open the gate to the quidditch pitch, where she saw Nikolai standing, his broom hovering slightly above the ground, without him on it.
The girl made her way over to Nik, and mounted her broom. She didn’t even greet him before she said, “If we’re actually going to do this twice a week, we can’t let anyone know. I don’t want a single person finding out I’m helping a Gryffindor. Alright?”
After giving him her terms, Adelaide looked forward. “Okay, you at least know how to get off the ground, right?” She asked, as she gripped her Nimbus 2016. It was the latest model, and the Slytherin team got them for free this year. “All you have to do is get a firm grip on your broom stick, and kick off the ground quite hard. Then without moving any other part of your body, you will hover.”
She demonstrated this for him, hoping he knew at least a little bit about flying.
Nikolai sat in his room, reading a book until it was time to meet Adelaide at the Quidditch field. He dressed normally, school uniform since he didn't feel like changing and quickly made his way down to the field. Once there, he stood, letting his broom hover next to him, as he was about to enter the stadium. However, Adelaide opened the gate.
As she made her way over, he gulped. Why was he receiving help from a Slytherin girl? He'd never know. But he had to learn to fly. "Hey-" he was cut off by her immediately ordering him around without even a greeting. He blinked, his eyebrows raised as he listened before nodding, "Yea, yea, got it. Don't wanna ruin your Slytherin reputation." he chuckled lightly.
Nik then gazed as she did, forwards and made a face of discomfort, "Define...get off the ground." he laughed lightly before gulping again and looked at her broom, comparing it to his own, very worn out, school-rented one, and made a slight pout internally. As he listened, it seemed simple enough in her terms, but for him it was like a marathon race, watching closely.
He did know his fair share and that was one thing, but actually doing it and succeeding it was another. Nikolai cleared his throat, mounting the broom and kicked off, making it hover too soon and fell with a yelp, kicking up grass into the air, "Sorry. I'll try again."
First Date | Harley & Nik Para
Nikolai was beyond nervous at this point. He had asked Harley to go on a date with him to see how things went - especially after talking about a "release of stress". The thought made him smile and couldn't help but blush. After all, Nik did like Harley. He found him attractive and funny, plus an all-around good friend.
At the Three Broomsticks, the place he'd asked Harley to meet him for the date, he sat in his seat jittery. His hands clasped together tightly, twirling his thumbs and tapped his foot as he waited. The butte-rbeer he had ordered was practically already gone because Nik felt the need to do something. And drinking, while nonalcoholic, seemed to be the best resort.
It had been a little cooler that day than earlier in the week, so Nikolai was wearing a nice gray sweater and dark jeans, feeling the need to get out of the school uniform. As he looked to the door, he bit his own bottom lip in anticipation. He couldn't wait for the date to start. Chuckling to himself, he rubbed the back of his neck, imagining how, hopefully, the rest of the night would go well. And be back before curfew. Maybe.
I Knew
Well, why don’t we start right now?
I don’t think there’s any practices happening right now, and if we get a head start, maybe you could try out for the quidditch team next year.
Brilliant!
That's only if I learn not to fall off onto my arse every time.
I'm sorry what?
Well clearly students aren’t any less considerate of others. It would’ve been nice to be kept informed for once
Well....at least you know now..and with enough time to study.
I'm sorry what?
Why doesn’t anyone tell me these things! I knew about the exams…
I don't know. Professors being "evil", students not caring. It happens.
I'm sorry what?
Did someone just say there’s a homework due on Monday?
Yea, unfortunately, there is. Plus exams.
Tabatha couldn’t hide the shock she felt by his words. It was foreign ground to her, having someone openly tell her they were there for her. She paused for a moment, and smiled slightly, “Tabatha Yates is thankful for that.” She nodded in agreement, “Yeah, I didn’t know Maddie or Clove very well. I did know Wes…” She chuckled. “He fathered me on occassion.” She hoped she sounded sincere when she told Nik, “I know what you mean. I thought I was a bit confused on my part in the issue at large, but with Wes gone now…I feel as if we have to finish what he started. For him.”
She sat down at stared at her empty plate for a moment, really thinking. “There have been deaths at the school before. In fact, the last wizarding war took place in this very Great Hall. The school seems to have moved on, gone back to normal, I guess….but I don’t think we’ll ever forget. I mean how could you? Death when your younger is different than death when your older. It just is…”
While Nikolai didn't know Tabatha too well, what he had said about being there for her wasn't a lie. He saw the potential for them to be friends, and he was one to be nothing but loyal. And hearing her accept and be thankful for his words, he smiled brightly, "I'm glad she is. Nice to have another fellow Gryffindor to talk to," he chuckled slightly, getting comfortable in his seat. Hearing that she knew Wes, he arched an eyebrow with a soft smile, nodding as he listened, "I guess he always took on that fatherly or leader figure." he relaxed next to her, feeling comfortable around her, "Exactly...just need to figure out how..." he looked down, gulping slightly.
As he listened to her continue, the thoughts ran through his head of his readings and stories of the war beforehand. "It was tragic and scarring for most...I don't think I'd be able to get through it. I'm barely now and I hardly knew Wes," he admitted, clasping his hands together.
