OC Character I created for an RP story I'm part of.

Introducing Oliver Dompler. Charlie's older brother, and former golden child of the Dompler family.

Short angst lore dump under the cut.

He and Charlie grew up in a very fundamentalist Christian family and both were at the mercy of their father's overzealous vigilance of their personalities, sexuality and life choices, with Oliver facing the brunt of his bad temper and general abuse.

This made Oliver develop a form of maladaptive anxiety tethering on agoraphobia, that often keeps him away from the outside world and people in general, with Charlie being the only person he truly trusts.

He spends his days at a farm outside Philadelphia, where he grows all sorts of seasonal produce, flowers and his own supply of weed, which is among the few things that stave of his overwhelming anxiety and paranoia of his father finding out where he, or Charlie, are.

He only wants to be left alone with his plants, watch the movies he adores and for Charlie to be safe from the abusive home and parents they both grew up with.

It was kind of a spur of the moment because I thought seeing Charlie all dapper wearing a red suit would look both funny and cute.

Seeing Charlie all nervous, trying to declare his love for Pim? On Valentine's Day? Yes please! I had to to draw him.

The fic was just adorable.

Feels weird that Tumblr no longer has Notes and displays everything separate. That made the platform unique and distinct from the rest. Now it's just another Twitter look-alike.

I'm starting to notice poeple in the Smiling Friends community here on Tumblr play it too fast and loose with themes of consent, cheating, messed up angst and characters suffering for the sake of it.

I'm all for angst and drama in a story if it's done tastefully and, in the end, it has a happy resolution. But the majority of the time these stories/art lead to nothing but "wouldn't that be super messed up/sad if it happened??", the creation ends up in nothing but sadness and suffering, and it gets celebrated down in the notes section.

Maybe a tag for such things is in order.

It hurts seeing all those sets of figures simply being sold like that. Scalpers and non-fans can be so frustrating. 😑
