Horrified to learn how much I’ve been overusing #detergent in my #washerdryer. The repairman just ran a cycle without soap to show me how much there’s already in the washer! Basically LOADS! Cripes. Made my own #household #kitchen surface #cleaner this morning as a mini experiment in reducing #chemicaluse chez moi. It seemed to do the trick well but I’ll keep experimenting with other #cleanerrecipes to see what else works! Good news for a new year! This story today in @guardian covers @icelandfoods ‘s test to give people cashback in return for bringing back empty plastic bottles for #recycling . Trying a new #plasticfree #simpleswap. So #clingfilm is pretty crap for the environment. It’s single use and often ends up in #landfill. I’ve just bought some #beeswaxwraps for the first time to try them out. You wrap them around a container, hold them a minute so they warm up and stick, and hey presto. Also totally #reusable as they’re washable. Christmas! A great time of year but equally one accompanied by mounds of mostly unrecyclable wrapping paper. Had a quick squiz on the #interwebs today and found that #recycledwrappingpaper has really come on. Check out these pretties from @sophiavictoriajoy and available on @notonthehighstreet for example. I do wonder whether people have become so accustomed to receiving a spangly new thing every year whether or not we collectively equate ‘stuff’ to how much were loved or valued.
