8” x 8” shipped out this week. I made this richly colored, abstract photograph at the beach! It is the top view of a large, wooden post buried deep in the sand. It’s one of many used to support the huge iron storm overflow pipes that go to the ocean. Each one is different and the colors change over time. Hello!! It feels good to be back after my extended trip out West and now that my shop is open again I’ll share a few photos of what my customers are keeping me busy with these steamy hot summer days. This is one of my all-time favorite photos made while visiting the Forbidden City in China. The image is printed with a black border, matted in a luscious 8-ply mat (see the last photo for the depth) and tucked into a 10”x10” black frame. The frame is polished, the glass is sparkly clean and it’s ready to hang. Shipping out to a lovely customer who’s shopped with me several times. As I clean out my mama’s lovely, little home, small things tug at my heart: the papier-mâché, heart-shaped box I made for her many, many years ago, a dozen pair of readers sprinkled throughout, her most favorite jewelry, design ideas for refreshing her bedroom. It’s a cathartic, intimate, emotional process so when I heard about this magical little book a few days ago, I ordered a copy to keep me company. It’s perfect. It’s about nature and life and hope and the things that matter. It is a buoy for my spirit.
