Girls get made fun of for everything might as well do what you want lol
not to be dramatic but this mentality literally freed me
Damn he came for their lives 😂
Holy shit I just witnessed Colin murder the entire movie industry.
I just saw a new episode of Who’s Line is it Anyway? in which other cast members made a transphobic joke where the punchline was “that woman has a penis.” Colin, who has a trans daughter, stood there and just repeatedly said “Really?” Until they apologized and redid their joke. Very small thing, but I appreciate the man.
Colin is sunshine.
And to think, I didn’t believe Colin Mochrie could earn more respect from me.
You have to understand. Improv comedy has rules you follow. And rule number one, the Golden Rule: NEVER CONTRADICT. You never take what someone suggests and say “no, not that, this instead!” You never reply to a joke with “No, I don’t want to do that!” You roll with it. You ALWAYS roll with it. The ridiculousness added on top of ridiculousness peaks into a primo superdense ball of hilarity incarnate.
And his reply to something offensive was “Nope. Stop the bit. Nope. Nope. Nope. You fucked up.”
I’ll bet you money Wayne Brady would do the same if a white person on the show dropped an N-Bomb, and people would be understanding. Colin stood up for an oft-maligned group, whose members include one very personal to him, and completely ground that show to a grinding halt by saying “No. That’s not fucking funny.” and ruined the joke. This is a man who builds his entire career off of making jokes, and he /ruined another’s/.
I’m sorry, Colin isn’t just a god amongst improv comics. He’s not just funny as all get-out and witty as hell. He’s a stone-cold badass, and he deserves recognition.
Props, Mr. Mochrie. You, sir, are deserving of respect.
I’ve worked with him (just briefly) and can confirm: he is just as excellent in real life as he seems here.
Another shoutout to the demons and monsters that lived under your bed/in your closet and actually obeyed all the arbitrary rules you invented to keep yourself safe, like “if light is touching me at all I can’t be harmed” or “if I’m stepping on carpet I am untouchable” or “if I move my hand in a particular pattern while I walk, I’m off-limits during my voyage through the dark house to the bathroom”.
That was really considerate of them, especially given how biased in your favor those rules were.

And it is powerful magic
adjusting your boobs in public is a power move
Medusa with the Head of Perseus, Luciano Garbati, 2008
I adore how she carries his head low, at her side, and not aloft in triumph. This is not a self-aggrandizing hero lauding her great deed. This is a woman who wanted to be left the fuck alone.
Also look at her body. The double hips. The asymetrical boobs. She’s thin, but she’s realistic as hell. That’s a real woman.
And the look in her eyes. Damn.
okay anne hathaway looks good
rihanna thank you so much for making Anne feel good about her body because holy shit
there will be a moment when you realize you are more grown up than your parents are. this is the loss of childhood, my love. it is when you’re standing in the kitchen and one of your parents is screaming about something and you recognize: you will let them win the fight not because you are wrong, but simply because you know that they will keep shouting unless you drop the subject. you expect them to have childish understandings of things. they will hold onto their concept of the world as if it was not a changing thing. they must be right, and they must be somehow more right than you, always, in everything. their idea of control is so necessary to who they are that you just let it go.
this is the moment. you are 11 or 17 or 21. and you realize that you’re more mature than they ever were.
and in some odd, sad way, this frees you. where they have stagnated, you continue.

honestly like. the sheer lack of resources available to lgbt young people about abusive relationships is killing us and abuse educators need to wake the fuck up and start providing specific, targeted resources for people in gay relationships.
i mean, i’ve had friends who are struggling in dysfunctional relationships say things to me like, “i don’t understand why we can’t figure out how to communicate, like, we’re both women” and i’ve had friends who are trapped in actively abusive relationships but are unable to think of their experiences as abuse because virtually all the literature on abuse is about the specific ways in which men threaten and terrorize women.
i think because so many of us go through childhoods and early heterosexual relationships that are so traumatizing and lonely, it’s easy to believe that gay love is this kind of healing panacea, somehow inherently more pure and stable than straight love. and like. while unquestionably the vast majority of domestic abuse is carried out by men against women, gay relationships are not magic. they are made up of flawed people, and they can become dysfunctional, and people can be vulnerable to abuse within them. and we need to stop pretending otherwise and start figuring out how to protect each other.
happy birthday, iu! ♡
