Already posted this in response to “ugh I cringe when women say they aren’t feminists because they don’t hate men”

Maybe you should spend less time cringing and sneering at women who say things like that, and more time calling out the number of feminists who walk around with misandry tattoos and male tears mugs, say “Why should we believe Shia LaBeouf when he says he was raped” and “whenever a man says he isn’t in the mood for sex he is only withholding sex from you because he wants to oppress women and men owe women sex when we demand it, especially when we are smart and funny because they are threatened by smart nice women such as ourselves” and “white men being raped in prison is social justice” and actively campaign to shut down shelters for battered men and do everything they can to limit funding for them. The stereotype exists for a reason, and there are enough feminists who believe in this stereotype themselves that male tears mugs and misandry necklaces are enough of an audience that these products are manufactured and sold to them for a profit. Just before Christmas, a ton of people I know who identify as feminists were posting the “Top 10 gifts for the feminist in your life!” and nearly all of the “feminist gifts” were gold plated misandry necklaces and male tears mugs with slightly less ugly lettering. If so many feminists are willing to equate hating men with feminism, to the point that a number of feminists are willing to spend the better half of a hundred dollars on a necklace or a designer t shirt that says I HATE MEN, then maybe it isn’t so strange that a number of women want nothing to do with a movement that celebrates this behavior?

This is why I want nothing to do with feminism anymore. It’s not because of the fucked up elements of feminism like TERFs, the ones who murdered Erin Pizzey’s dog to try and intimidate her into silence because she said men needed shelters too and male victims of domestic violence need to stop being ignored, the group of feminists that allied themselves with one of the biggest anti-gay groups active today because both share the same goal in trying to get porn banned, or how the last post to hit a million notes on Tumblr in 2014… was a post about male body issues derailed by feminists to be a hilarious meme about Shrek instead (and was a gender swapped verison of a post about women’s body issues that was extremely popular and was NOT edited or derailed.)

It’s the smug apathy that most feminists have to this. Instead of calling it out, you get angry or sneer at the people who are aware of it. “You must not understand what feminism is” is the stock response when people say fucked up things feminists have said and done.

And quite frankly, that attitude? It shows that feminists are far more concerned with protecting their own egos then actually taking members of their own movement to task, even when there are radfems outing trans kids to their families out of spite or feminists bombarding male rape victims with messages like “men can’t be raped, kill yourselves.” (fun fact: last time I saw this? Feminists were far more concerned with distancing themselves from it and quoting the dictionary then comforting a rape victim who was being told to kill himself by feminists. Not all feminists, right?)

Every movement has fucked up elements, but I have no interest in people who simply just parrot the dictionary definition and then pat themselves on the back for sticking their heads in the sand.”

It’s not that “not all feminists are like that” it’s the simple fact that those “feminists” aren’t feminists. They just aren’t no matter if they call themselves feminist.

Isn’t it funny how “those hateful people aren’t feminists” but yet you guys have argued up and down that RETURN OF KINGS IS A FRIGGIN MEN’S RIGHTS GROUP even though Return of Kings hates men’s rights.

The going feminist copout? “Return of Kings is part of the manosphere ergo they’re just like the MRA groups”

you know, like “He speaks Arabic so he must be Al Qaeda.”
