☂ — Eyes shot up, the pinkish tiers protruded up, the swish of her mouth’s flesh sliding against her pearly whites. “Hm.. I mean.. They’re mainly  shirtless,” she mused, head tiled towards the mirror in front of her as the stylist slid a couple of digits along her fringe. “Boys here are no fun sometimes, unless you’re talking to an idol, or some trainees.” the brunette admitted in a stale manner, the habitual cold deadpan expression gradually falling upon her face. The specific style expressed as a thought  ran through her head.. She looked like a two-toned cupcake, and for now, it was best to stick with a  solid haircolour. “Niamh, that hair was so expensive to take care of! My hair was so dry after the promotions,” the adverb prolonged. 

Sujin raised a hand for the middle-aged woman to stop trimming for a short while, momentarily turning around “Let’s do some squats then,”

Though Niamh tried to keep her surprise on the  down low, it was most probably quite obvious to see the shock on her face that was triggered by the word squats. “Ah.. Maybe later.. Sit down and  let the lady finish her job! Haha..” With hasty hand gestures she tries to get the other to sit down again, an uneasy smile forming on her lips. “Idol boys are cute.. But as non-idol I usually feel way too nervous around them. Especially since it’s usually only for work purposes when I do talk to them. I’m not gonna hand out my number while at work.” The thought alone caused a laugh to spill from her lips and she shook her head after. “I’ll stick to boring boys.”

“Let’s get on one of those sightseeing busses  when we’re done here. I’ve always wanted to go!”

“I knew it.” She spoke in English, with her Irish accent. “What a surprise! I haven’t met anyone from Ireland yet. I am Ana. From Galway.” She bowed her head and grinned a bit, pulling out her hand for a handshake. “You look like a Dubliner. Or you lived somewhere else?” Even though she sounded casual, Ana was curious — how did she end up in Korea? Most of the people in Ireland would end up somewhere around Britain or just move to America. But she was an exception as well, after all.

As soon as the other female started speaking in an all too familiar language and with an all too familiar accent, Niamh’s face lit up in joy and she had to constrain herself in order not to jump the other. “Oh my god! Ana from Galway, huh? I’m Niamh from Dublin. I’ve been to Galway a few times, it’s beautiful.” She mirrored the others polite gestures before a laugh spills from her lips. “Oh well I grew up in Dublin because my mother is Irish but.. Things weren’t going so well over there and since my father has family here, he sent me to live with my cousin. I’ve only been in Seoul for two months tops. Anyway, my cousin has a company here so right now I’m working for him and yeah.. How about yourself though?”

jongdae was very aware that the feeling of pride surging through him was quite misplaced, but he couldn’t help it; making someone laugh – or even just smile, really – always granted him a warmth like no other, and this time was no exception. “ah, thought so.” tapping his nose delicately, jongdae gave the girl a cheshire grin, kittenish lips curving up. “i have my ways, you know.” teasing, mostly, but he did have a knack for recognising regulars, and the petite frame in front of him was more foreign than france.

“aw, you caught me.” although he tried, jongdae couldn’t quite manage to force his lips down, much too full of mirth from the sudden fun he found in a small, unfamiliar girl. “mm, i play quite often and my memory’s quite good. i’ll be here tomorrow, if y'want some more.” winking, a laugh bubbled from jongdae’s lips. while he did hope to see her again then, his wish laid more in that they would become friends outside of the bar. “so, what brought you here?”

“oh you have your ways huh?” a laugh couldn’t be held back and so she let it spill from her lips, brows raised in somewhat of a suspicious yet amused manner. “maybe teach me your ways sometime. how to recognize the newbies and all that, maybe that way i’ll be able to make more friends!” truth be told, sometimes she did feel.. sort of alone. of course she had her cousin here and she’d already met a few people, but she hadn’t really gotten to making real friends yet. she missed having the kind of friends you could just text at any hour to hang out or the kinda friends that you could call at the end of a long day. 

“oh you do? i’ll have to come by more often then. when do you start tomorrow? i can drop by after work, this little bar is on my way home.. which is why i’m here right now in the first place.” while explaining herself, she moves her head in slow nods and her lips curl up into a smile. she was glad he suggested that, spending some time listening to his music and maybe having a coke after work sounded like a good after-work-routine for her. finally, a way to wind down. “so is this like your job? or do you do something else besides play at bars? if you don’t mind me asking.”

since i will be going on a trip with the company i’m doing my banker apprenticeship at, i won’t be here until either friday night ( which i doubt ) or saturday morning, which is more likely. soooo until then i won’t be able to do any replies, i probably won’t even be on aim but do feel free to leave me a message here or on aim @ squidward.kr

❝excuse me?❞ niamh had to actually stop and rethink what just happened one more time before she actually realized what the other girl had just said to her. ever since she had moved to seoul, this girl was the only person who ever even dared to bring up her parents. it wasn’t that she had a.. bad relationship with them, it was more of a complicated relationship. at least that’s what she called it. either way, she didn’t wish to speak about them to anyone. especially not someone she barely even knew.  ❝do you even know my parents? because - and correct me if i’m wrong - i’m pretty sure you don’t. as a matter of fact your don’t know anything, at all. maybe your parents loved you and it’s nice you know that. real nice. so happy for you, wow. but whatever is happening between me and my parents, is none of your business.❞ the words came out much harsher than she intended them to, but you piss her off once - she goes off. and there was no stopping it.

i don’t know when exactly i’ll be getting home tomorrow and i still have to pack my suitcase and and and, so whether i’ll be able to do my replies tomorrow or not until saturday is uncertain as of right now.

❝uuuh, maybe you’ve never heard of it but there’s an english talk show called dr phil and that dr phil person is a licensed psychologist. you know what he always says? the best predictor of future behaviour, is past behaviour. ❞ niamh gives the female a firm nod as though she was trying to convince the other of the legitimacy of her statement.  ❝why do you have a problem with the past?❞ with this question her brows raise and she brings her arms up to fold them over her chest. truth be told, she didn’t like talking about her past either and if anything was to ever bring any of what happened up, she’d probably lose it. after all that was the reason she moved to korea in the first place, to run away from the past. but nobody had to know that. after all, a little lie never hurt nobody.

❝so you’re trying to tell me that you wanted your hair to look this messy?❞ niamh’s brows furrow together as she pulls the hand she had used to fix the other’s hair back. she never understood why people wanted to have messy looking hair in the first place, she was all about that straightened hair that looked neat and chic. clothes on the other hand, were a different story. she loved the occasional ripped jeans or shirts that were too wide. the i don’t care about anything look that she so desperately tried to achieve just months ago only to be let down by the awful looking results. ❝well damn alright then, have it your way!❞ with a sly grin forcing itself onto her features she takes a step closer and raises her hand once more to rub the palm of her hand against the other’s head in order to mess it up again.

“You don’t need to have them all staring right at you to have their attention. Fishes are smart, maybe smarter than us. They have some amazing sensory ability.” He was now basically lecturing the girl out of habit. He wasn’t an official one, but Lucas acted as though he was a real tour guide. He definitely qualified for the job in terms of knowledge and intellect. “Miss, I suggest you buy yourself some goldfish at a pet store and satisfy that need.” He joked, chuckling a bit.

It was obviously that the girl was completely clueless about anything related to the topic at hand. She, or Lucas, was lucky enough to meet the other. He was just the right person if she was interested in knowing more. “Being a marine biologist is my dream, so that answers your question there. My nickname as a child was sharkboy.” He smiled, strangely enjoying the fact that they shared differences. It wouldn’t have been a fun conversation if she nodded to everything he said in agreement. “You don’t exactly like fish, huh? Jus taking a wild guess but you probabaly prefer animals that didn’t smell of salt water or has gills. Sharks are considered monsters to some people, especially nowadays with all the reported shark attacks but yes, they are fish, really big fish.”

"Smarter than us?” His words impressed her and eventually she took a step back from the glass to then turn her full attention to the male who had been kind enough to answer her questions. “That’s intense, there’s a lot of really smart people out there.”I’d rather not, I can barely take care of myself and really wouldn’t want to do that to any kind of animal – And you’re right, I don’t like fish. At all. I mean they’re alright.. behind this glass. But um.. I wouldn’t exactly like to get in there.” She allows a laugh to spill from her lips. Obviously the male and her were nothing alike - from what she knew until now, that was. Or at least that’s what she assumed. Judging from the fact that he wanted to be a marine biologist, he most probably wasn’t feeling quite as uncomfortable being around fish as she did.

“Dogs are my favorite animals. Fish would belong in my personal lower three to be quite honest. Especially sharks.” Her faces scrunches up in somewhat of a grimace upon the mention of sharks and she shakes her head almost as though she was literally trying to shake off the thought. “They're super scary and the only time I saw sharks and wasn’t scared was when I watched Sharknado. That movie was seriously just.. not good.”
