Did he want to do this? Not really, but he didwant to help, and that took precedence over any discomfort he might have been feeling. Chris thought about offering to put his partner up in a hotel until he could find a new place, but just as quickly rejected the idea; he knew Piers wasnât the type to accept âhandouts,â and itâd probably just make the situation more awkward.
The captain briefly smiled at the question. âAre you? Comfortable, I mean.â He bent down to pick up the sniperâs box of belongings, surprisedâand yet, not surprisedâby how light it was. He opened the car door again and carefully placed the cardboard box on the seat, then turned around to address Piers.
âIâd hate to send you back after you took the time to pack up,â he jested, an attempt to lighten the mood as he motioned for the sniper to get in. âCome on, letâs go.â Chris began to walk around the front of the vehicle to enter through the driverâs side, but stopped mid-gait when he remembered their earlier chat.
Heâd made it awkward. Heâd made it more awkward. Piers shifted his weight again, before settling, almost frozen to the spot, as Chris turned his question back on him. He stared at the half-open passenger door as he considered it. Was he comfortable with it? No. That said, there was no way he was going to refuse the Captainâs offer at this stage in the game. Heâd been raised better than to be an ungrateful man. Without replying, he let his eyes follow Chrisâ movements, trying not to worry about what was to come.
âSure, sure.â
Sliding halfway into the truck, Piers stopped and threw a glance towards the other end of the parking lot, where his banged up old Yamaha sat swallowed by the shadows of the building. Heâd almost forgotten about it, in his rush to get out of the building and get the ordeal over with; he had mentioned parking it at Chrisâ place, but it suddenly felt like a fuss.
âYâknow what? Itâll survive here another night, I bet. Sâbeen here long enough. Iâll get it tomorrow, drive it back.â
At least the music lifted his mood. Although was surprised Chris put up with it â the man was a fair bit older than him, after all â Piers was more than pleased to hear familiar tunes. It reminded him of being back home and he absently tapped his foot against Chrisâ dashboard, staring out of the window and watching the scenery change as they neared his home. It might have been a humble neighbourhood, but Piers wouldnât know. It looked pretty luxurious to him â the streets were clean, the hedges were trimmed, and the pavements were lined with trees. Heâd be over the moon living there.
In fact, he was going to be living there, he reminded himself, and wondered how much Chris paid to rent his place. The idea that he might own it never crossed Piersâ mind.
The duplex was not something heâd imagined, but as they pulled up, he smiled inwardly. It suited Chris, actually. The smile didnât quite reach his face - instead, he raised an eyebrow at the building, his expression giving the impression he was judging the building, although not necessarily negatively; as he slid out of the truck and fetched his belongings, he made a single comment.
âHumble abode, Captain. Honestly, thoâ, itâs really pretty. Love it.â
Piers followed Chris inside, absent-mindedly kicking his shoes off in the same direction as Chrisâ. Realizing what heâd done â already â he nudged them straight with his toes, making sure Chris wasnât looking.
âThatâs fine,â he shrugged. He didnât have much to say; arriving here hadnât eased his discomfort any. It might not have looked like much on first impressions, but he was still in Chrisâ house, with his belongings, ready to put them about the place.
âFeels like Iâm steppinâ on Holy ground,â Piers joked, hoping to lift the heavy mood. He eyed the frames curiously as he followed Chris through to the living room area; was that the Captainâs family? The man looked a little like him, and heâd heard around the place that Chris had a sister â the baby, perhaps. Heâd never spoken about them, but Piers hadnât asked, either. He mentally took note: find out more about the man youâre living with.
âItâs nice, Cap,â he said, keen eyes quickly noticing the flaws, but he had nothing to say about them. So what if the carpet was used? Clearly well-loved. The walls were stained? It meant he didnât have to worry about keeping the place spotless. If it had been pristine, white walls and shag carpets, he might have panicked. âBig ânough that we wonât get in each otherâs hair, I hope.â
Actually, he was starting to relax with every step he took through the house. It was imperfect and unassuming. It was a similar size to the apartment heâd come from, maybe a little bigger, except he wasnât sharing with a couple of turbulent idiots, and there was furniture. The couch, however garish, looked a hundred times more inviting than a mattress on the floor. There was even a television. It might not have been a five star hotel, but in Piersâ mind, it was close enough. Although heâd expected at least a little more grandeur from the Captainâs home, it suited him perfectly. Back in the living room, he finally put down his belongings on the coffee table, and let out a dramatic sigh, as if he was finally allowing himself breathing room.
âThanks again,â he started, taking a seat on the loudly patterned couch and wriggling around a little to test it out, altogether pleased with how comfortable it was. He opened up his box, fishing out a couple of tattered, dog-eared novels â âIn the Desert and Wildernessâ by Henryk Sienkiewicz, in Polish, and Kafkaâs âAmerikaâ â and a cheap CD walkman with a couple of CDâs that were all probably as offensive to Chrisâ ears as the music on the radio. An overused notebook followed, stuffed with papers, and a family photograph of his own slipping out the side; it was faded and scratched, but the faces could still be made out of four young boys, a much older man, and a heavily pregnant woman. They were standing on a dock, with New York City in the background. The picture was sandwiched between a couple of better condition photographs from his trip to Africa, and as soon as he noticed it was sticking out, Piers quickly tucked it away again, hiding the notebook under a few magazines. The rucksack was mostly clothes; his running shoes were strapped to the outside of it. âI swear it wonât be fâlong. I donât like takinâ charity.â

(( Youâre piers is accurate, even if background isnt. I enjoy him, and I say keep him. You had this piers before canon piers was even canon. Just keep him as is and tell capcom they can suck on a lemon ))

Thank you lovely, that means a lot to me coming from you <3 I think I'm definitely going to keep him, maybe I'll tweak his history on that other Piers account I have when I eventually get round to using it. Feeling a bit better, it was just a massive disappointment at the time.
Keep him! Because even if heâs not canon accurate Piers, heâs still a Piers we know and love. â„

If I may suggest some of the RE net files are mistranslated, do try and check out the site: projectumbrella.net. Under the BH6 Files, theyâre offer a much better translation and content compared to the REnet. Piers has more character here. (ïœïœ„ÏŽ)9
I did *sob* I think it's going to be pretty much the same either way though. It's like 'all the men in Piers' family were in the military and he joined the army until the BSAA picked him up.'
Which just sounds like every other character. Sigh :C
