Hi guys!!!
I created a website all about fishkeeping!
Here is the link, if you are a fishkeeper, you might want to check it out!
Mysty, my mystery snail. The lighting is weird.
This is my lizard (actually gecko) friend. His name is Cucumber. I catch him and let him go, I will try to get a pic :)
He is on our shoe rack.
Leave. Or else...
My doggo is not actually growling, I moved his lip to make it look like he was growling.
Like this post if you want to hear an audio track of Kalia barking to a song :)
Do not disturb. Important call.

Guppies
Everyone thinks that guppies are small, wild fish that you see in lakes. While technically true, there are guppies that humans have bred. These guppies are really pretty, and are great pets. Let me tell you about cute creatures.
Guppies only need a ten gallon aquarium. There fish are small, but keep in mind that you cannot put a lot of them in a small tank For example, five guppies in a ten gallon aquarium is fine, but more than that, your tank will be overcrowded.
Guppies breed like crazy. If you have males and females together, you will have hundreds of babies in no time. Guppies are livebearers, you won’t ever see egg in your tank. If you want to breed fish, guppies are perfect because literally all you need to do is add water! Hard water is preferable. Have some live plants in there though, because the guppy fry will get eaten without any hiding places.
If you want guppies, get a heater to keep the tank around 75 - 80º. The pH should be 6.8 - 7.8, no ammonia or nitrite, up to 40 ppm nitrate is ok but the less the better. No chlorine should be present in the tank.
Now you know that guppies have a lot of potential, and are really easy to keep. Will your next fish be a guppy? Maybe you want a fun breeding project, and are thinking about using guppies? Well guppies are certainly an amazing fish, even if they are not your style! As always, don’t forget to follow my vlog as to not miss another one of my posts!
Do not look at me. I don’t exist. I’m a stachew.
Betta Fish
Betta Fish are beautiful and easy to care for. Many beginners are instantly drawn to them, especially children. Because mostly beginners own bettas, bettas are very mistreated. This is because they do not know how to care for these magnificent fish. Let me teach you how to properly care for betta fish.
Bettas are very hardy. Betta fish can survive a wide range of water parameters. Their pH should be 6.5 - 7.5, though the more neutral it is, the better. There should be no ammonia, no nitrite, and less nitrate the better, though they can stand up to 40 ppm of it. Chlorine should be 0, Gh can be and Ch can be 40 - 120. They like tropical water temperature, so keep the temperature at around 80˚.
Bettas have amazing personalities. When you think about fish, you don’t think about personalities. But trust me, my betta was practically my best friend. He recognized my voice.
Betta fish don’t need fancy equipment. They need a minimum of only a five gallon aquarium, a heater, and of course food, but that is pretty much it, not including the basic chemicals to keep your water healthy.
Now you know how easy it is to care for betta fish. Will this elegant creature be your next pet, or perhaps your first? Like this post if you already have bettas, or have had them in the past, and remember to follow me so you don’t miss any of my posts!

Snails in Your Aquarium
Aquatic Snails. Pests or pets? Snails have many advantages and disadvantages that most people ignore, thinking that snails are gross and do not make good pets. Well, this is definitely not true. Snails can be awesome little creatures, when you consider their good qualities. Let us dive deep into the world of snails.
Maybe you want a nice addition to your aquarium? Snails can clean your tank. By this, I do not mean that you can skip maintenance, but instead that snails can help you with it. They will eat fallen food from the tank floor that your fish missed, and in the case of some species, might eat the algae from the aquarium walls and decorations.
Snails reproduce rapidly, especially pest snails. I have a snail infestation in my aquarium, though it is not a problem because the waste is at a minimum. Snails usually reproduce uncontrollably if there is an abundant food source. If you have live plants, there is always a risk of getting snails!
Snails can make great pets. Are you someone that really wants a pet, but you do not think you have the time to do maintenance? Snails might be for you! Snails are really low energy pets, for most snails like Mystery and Nerite snails, a five gallon aquarium is big enough. Just throw in a bit of fish food every couple of days and perform water changes every month, and you are good to go!
Now what do you think about snails? Are they pests or pets? Well, that is up to you, but hopefully you have learned more about there amazing creatures! Keep in mind, these requirements are for aquatic snails, not land snails. Also, remember to follow my blog to stay updated when I post! (There will be a special vlog for tomorrow, Halloween!)
The Impact of the Nitrogen Cycle on Fish Keeping
So you have decided to get a pet fish. Well keep in mind, it most certainly won't be all fun and games. Remember, as soon as you get a fish, it is just like adopting a dog! You are committing to care for a life. Fish are not decorations, they are living things just like dogs or cats. If you are not willing to commit time for their care, maybe fish are not for you. There is work involved, even if it is significantly less than a dog or cat.
There is a natural process in the fish keeping hobby. It is the most basic process, and skipping it probably results in more fish deaths than any other beginner mistake. It is called The Nitrogen Cycle. Have you ever wondered why the fish don’t get poisoned by their waste? Well, that is because of The Nitrogen Cycle.
There are three chemicals in the water that get naturally formed because of waste and bacteria. We will discuss the bacteria more in paragraph 4. There is ammonia, very deadly even in small doses to fish. Then nitrite, also as deadly as ammonia. Finally nitrate, which is much less deadly, but still needs to be kept in check.
Then there is Beneficial Bacteria. This is a form of bacteria that lives in the filter of fish tanks. What it does is convert the ammonia that comes out of the waste in the tank into nitrite. Then this harmful nitrite gets converted into the much less toxic nitrate by the same bacteria. This process is called The Nitrogen Cycle.
As you can tell, this bacteria is very important, but where does it come from? Well, you need to introduce it. First you will need an ammonia source. You can buy bottled ammonia, or toss in a bit of fish food into the tank and wait a few days for the ammonia to form. The latter will take longer, but if you are willing to wait, it is also an option. Then you will need to add the bacteria. The bacteria will cultivate by itself as long as it has a food source like ammonia, but if you want to speed things along, you also have the option of buying bacteria in a bottle. Remember, the former is slower, but if you have the patience, it will be just as effective. This step will take two weeks to two months, depending on what method you are using.
If you look back at paragraph four, you will notice that the bacteria does not do anything about the nitrate, and in paragraph three, I stated that if the nitrate, if it builds up, can be deadly. In the wild, this would not be a problem because the water evaporates, and when it rains, the old water will get replaced with the fresh rainwater. But our fish are in tanks and it won’t rain in our homes. Then how do we get rid of the nitrate? Well that is when you, the fish keeper, comes into play. Water changes. Water changes are a process where we take out 10-20% of the dirty water from the tank and replace it with new, clean water from the sink. Remember to dechlorinate this water, or it will kill all the bacteria and the fish! Water changes are typically performed once a month, though it can be done more, depending on how stocked the tank is.
Well, now you know the basics, but there is still much to learn to be a successful fish keeper! Also, remember to keep an eye out for more blog posts from me!
