Enjoying the details put into Rockwell's meat hole.
Some space vibes.
My thoughts on Ark Genesis 2 so far
I'm really enjoying myself! I know a lot of people aren't happy with how easy it is but I've always been pretty casual about ark. Even though I have 1500 hrs in the game I don't like waiting days for a hatchling to be born, or hours for a creature to tame, I've only done one boss fight. I like that they went all out, everyone gets cool stuff even casual plebs like me for the last dlc. I'm really enjoying the setting of this dlc so far. Looking up and seeing the rest of the habitable ring even if we can't visit it. Going out into space and staring at whatever moon or planet we are flying past. Its very cool.
Some things I think could be better is having a better sense of progression before the boss fight. Maybe some ragnarok style dungeons just tek flavored that have to be completed before the final boss. Perhaps you could unlock keys to enter them by doing missions. I would love to see some mini bosses in the same vein, at the end of an in world dungeon or even instanced missions that must be unlocked.
I think mutagen is really cool, and the new tames are OP and awesome. But I am looking forward to going back to primitive style gameplay in Ark 2. Lets hope they don't mess it up too badly.
Hi I love these things
Moment of appreciation for the studio wildcard environmental artists. They've really gone wild with the plant designs on the corrupted side of the map. The top of the meat flower trees looking like raw nutmeg is a nice touch. There is an attention to detail I appreciate. Things like plants having two slightly different models with one spreading spores, and how there are different biomes along river banks vs in the dry hills. I know some people are disappointed with a lack of biome variety in Genesis 2 vs the maps we’ve had in the past. I think given the vast size of this map they had to reduce the amount of assets for players to load. I still think its a very well done map aesthetically.
enjoying the genesis 2 vibe so far
Otters can drown underwater but apparently handle the vacuum of space just fine.
African wild dog wolf variant?!
Despite myself I’m getting excited about genesis part 2. Might have to dust off this blog.
Cinematic style on all 4 main maps!
Quality content.
Is there a way to turn on any of the holiday/special events without downloading a mod or smth? Like the Christmas one or the Valentine’s one?
Yep! If on single player you go into steam, right click ark from the library list, select properties, then launch options. Put in
-ActiveEvent=WinterWonderland Or the name of whatever event you are trying to activate. If you’re having a server hosted your host should have options to activate events handy on their site.
i wish there was a mod for ark where you have an option to pet any dino(not just lystro or hyaenodon) and when you do it does its level up animation
This is super cool!
Fellow Raptors
I’ve been playing a little bit of Ark (okay, it’s my most played Steam game) and my favorite dinos are my little raptor buddies! My favorites (pictures here) are Landwaffle, Bloodpancake, and FELLOW RAPTOR–the latter of which is clearly just a regular raptor.
