I just love how the consensus on Torchwood is that it is

a) an incredibly dark piece of media that deals with deep rooted trauma, death and the possibilities of our universe in such compelling ways

And

b) the stupidest thing ever written

Sometimes Torchwood antagonists are really existentially unnerving and/or highlight the very darkest parts of human nature, and very often they’re just someone Jack pissed off at some point, and sometimes they’re just like. gay antique shop owner. fish person on coke. overdramatic circus ghosts. sex cloud. just straight-up fairies

….And somehow, the category they fall into doesn’t have much bearing on how good the episode is
