My updated short doc on fandoms & South Africa.
oh yeah here’s a quick recap of a few of the things that i experienced while in south africa
My reflection video from my trip to South Africa and France!
very expressive eyebrows…a response video for SA trip.
A video of reflection from SA
Well, we're finally back in the US and it feels strange, but strangeness aside, I had a wonderful experience.
I was excited, but very nervous to see what lay beyond the US, but i am very satisfied with the outcome of the trip. I feel as though I discovered more about myself as well as other cultures. Literally one of the only things I disliked about the trip was the plane ride. I'm so happy and privileged to have been a part of this and I want to thank everyone I came in contact with while on the trip, because I would not have had the experiences I did without each and every one of you. Thank you again!

How the hell did I STILL manage to get jetlag? IN THE SAME TIME ZONE!?
Eh… anywho, yesterday was a full day in Brussels. I met up with Dad at the Brussels Airport around 8 am and we dove straight in. Again, I say that trying to sleep on an airplane is a fate that I dare not wish on my worst...
^Behind the scenes samples/screen grabs from our return group photo. See, it is an NKU sign!
Anyway, as I sit at home, fighting off sleep in a losing battle I reflect on my trip.
To be honest, I’m unsure of how well my original documentary idea will transfer to my final project. That is not to say there is not good footage and interviews that support my idea, but that I will have to adapt my project to what I captured as a whole to bring out the best story.
Besides the documentary, on a personal level the trip was interesting, and helped broaden my perspective of the world by traveling to the other side of it.
Now off to edit.

I edited together this sample from my cell footage while over the Pacific. I wanted to edit something on the plane to say I did, and did, but it was not comfortable in the seats.
We got to say goodbye to NMMU staff, then Sam, and our Prof. Sarah and Chris next. All of which I have partial recordings of, and some which are on display in this montage.
Also, I apologize for the bland music. I had only Apple’s free soundtrack to work with. And not even the expanded FCX one.

MY DAY(S)
The last two days in South Africa were jam packed with a ton of crazy things.
Tuesday we made our long awaited trip to Addo Elephant Park and the Schotia Game Reserve, and it was freaking awesome, simple as that. I think I’m still on an animal high, even three days later.
We saw...
I took a few photos here and there in South Africa.
The male bonding on this trip was phenomenal!
This was powerful
Last night in South Africa, and it was a good day; for myself and my documentary.
For my documentary I was able to get 3 interviews in at the last minute that really help round out my documentary. One was a formal reinterview and the other a dual interview with Port Elizabeth's two cosplayers who are not camera shy.
Afterwards I enjoyed our final dinner trip where I ate my first good french fry in South Africa. The food here is great, but fry's(chips) are an exception.
So a nice send off day overall.
