The absurdity of American high school scheduling also played a role in my lifelong insomnia. I never asked my sleep doctor what the final goal was regarding sleep and wake times. I think part of me assumed change was impossible. And honestly it was; many afternoons, I cried on the way home from work because I was so tired and hated myself and what was the point?! 8:30 AM was my breaking point. I donāt know why. One of my cats has arthritis. I got her a heating mat. She is, at best, indifferent to it. One of my other cats, however, loves it. She runs to it when I enter the room so that I know it needs to be turned on. She starts as a little loaf and then eventually melts off the mat. My husband has suggested I get a mat for myself, and maybe I will sleep as well as the kitty does.
Prom
My dad died about a month before prom. Mom and I passed the time between ICU visits by going to the mall and looking at accessories.Ā The theme: What Dreams May Come. I protested that this was not a good idea. But so it was and I attended a prom inadvertently themed on death not long after Dad died. It was a very nice prom and I had a very nice time.
