hey! my name is alex, i’m a brown lesbian immigrant artist just trying to survive. this year i was unable to cover three months of rent due to chronic pain from a wrist injury, and my laptop breaking down a while ago.

I just learned yesterday that Pikachu, my favorite Pokemon, was originally designed not by Ken Sugimori (he only finalized the design), but by a female graphic designer named Atsuko Nishida. 

Also after googling her, I found out that she’s also designed Sylveon–another favorite PKMN of mine. She’s also illustrated some very pretty Pokemon cards!!

Thank you Ms. Nishida! :-) May you get more credit and love for your contribution to the Pokemon franchise.

We really wouldn’t. I’ve said it before, we’ve created areas where we have no predator animals to worry about and yet somehow women still have to be afraid to go at night because the male half of our own goddam species will prey on us, if not in our own homes in our own families. I felt safer when a coyote ran past me a few nights ago than I have with a man walking behind me in broad daylight. I’d rather see eyes glowing from the trees at night than have a man close behind me.
