The Magical Girl Guide to: Faerie Witchcraft
Faerie.
Fairy.
Faery.
Fairies.
Faeries.
Regardless of how you prefer to spell it, pretty much everyone has heard about these powerful beings known as — the fae.
Maybe you watched Ferngully: The Last Rain Forest as a kid. Or you were like me and read a lot of the original Disney Fairies™ books (and subsequently the movies). Or you just really like fancy pinterest moodboards and the aesthetique pictures in the fairycore tag. Faeries just seem like really pretty and benevolent beings that rule the seasons and occasionally come out to play with human children.
Then you a step into the witchblr side of the faerie tag and you get hit with the whiplash of a bunch of warnings telling beginners to stay far, far, FAR away from faeries. I know I certainly was taken aback when I first discovered the online communities of witchcraft and learned there were so many branches outside of the traditional magic one of my mothers practiced. I could work with faeries? Great! But before you go diving in without any knowledge, you need to do your research about the fae. A lot of research. There’s a reason why so many practitioners put PSAs about working with faeries wherever they go so you don’t accidentally garner a fae’s curse or accidentally give away your first born child. Faeries don’t really give two fucks about the laws and morals and etiquette of humans and yet they give an infinite amount of fucks in expecting you to know and care about theirs.
As such, this is what this addition to my Magical Girl Guide series, I’m hoping to have a more or less well-rounded Farie Witchcraft 101 for those interested in working with faeries. It isn’t for everyone and as such, you should
It’s a lot to really go into but to work with any sort of the near infinite species of fae out there, you need to know the etiquette of how to deal with them. This is what I hope to cover in this post using my own UPG as well as linking some references to other well-known faerie witches.
