"Why collect physical media if you can pirate movies"
I mean I do, but outside of wanting my faves on disc here's a recent example.
Trying to watch the cemetary man in my living room tv. Not on a streaming service i have access to, none of the torrents i have work, illegal streaming sites dont cast well to my tv, same with youtube
If i had a dvd i could just play it bing bang boom
So in some scenario physical is even more convinient than streaming or even piracy which to be honest i find sometimes a hassle
Especially with subtitles often i cant find the right subtitle that syncs with the movie and having audio processing disorder i cant watch movies without subtitles
So yeah blurays and dvds arent obsolete in my opinion even if we account for piracy as an option
This is objectively funny to me, I went to reblog it and realized it's an ad that didn't load.
It's a rough world out there for people who were teenagers during the exact slice of gaming history where indie video games had become feasible to develop and distribute globally, but the definition of "indie" didn't yet encompass corporate studios and million-dollar budgets. They'll tell you their favourite game when they were a kid was, like, a point-and-click visual novel whose protagonist dreams they're a vast formless sea monster that learns about the concept of colours after finding a discarded helium balloon, or a hypertext fiction/precision platformer hybrid exploring gender as a mechanism of social control, and you think they're either being pretentious or deliberately fucking with you, but no, that's just what the indie gaming scene was like for a couple of years there. The sea monster thing got a front-page feature on the same site that made Bloons Tower Defense a household name – it was literally played by millions of people.
My homies know about 2kliksphilip and his bomb game

"I'm gonna write a simple little poker game with a simple little AI to play against!"
Fleeting thoughts I get now and then before procrastinating endlessly.
it's funny. tumblr made their april fools' joke opt-in but the fucking AI DATA HARVESTING SCHEME IS OPT-OUT
I used to love this section of reddit called rpan. It was a social experiment one year where, for a few weeks, they had dedicated times where users could live stream to reddit on this public access network type thing. Eventually, they shut it down, but users begged for it to come back, and it did, allowing users to stream all the time. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite the same and got shut down in the push for the reddit ipo... I miss that homegrown just streaming whatever from your phone stuff. It felt like an actual community

I love going to ADHD centered spaces on the internet because the comments sections are the best you’ll ever see. They’re filled with hundreds of people simultaneously discussing whatever Wikipedia rabbit hole they fell down while reading a meme about executive dysfunction and I think that’s beautiful.
Hotel California is such a fever dream
I love it
