it was what she would allow

because why wouldn’t a hunter

choose prey that doesn’t run

You always say you’re going to come,

but I never see you.

Am I not receiving the calls?

Am I missing the knock on the door?

You said you were going to come,

but I’m still left alone in this room.

This room holds nothing but memories…

memories of me and you.

Memories I’d rather forget.

Memories that once felt warm,

but now because of them

I can’t even lay in my own bed.

So instead, I sleep on the couch.

It may be uncomfortable,

but nothing is more uncomfortable

than lying in a coffin

that already holds what’s dead.

my fear of being unloved

was stronger than my anger

towards the person

who made me feel unloved

because at least he “loved me”

and now that i think about it

of course he would accept me

the man who ruined me

shouldn’t mind

his own work . . .
