i've recently finished watching haikyuu and bnha!! i've started reading a bit of the haikyuu manga too, but there are so many chapters ;-; i'm glad to hear that you'd write for haikyuu!!! that's what i primarily read from the anime fic community so if you do end up posting, i'll be looking forward to it!! i'll have to watch kuroko no basket and free sometime, i heard they're really good! i'll be on the lookout for whether you post here or on a new blog!! :D

i’ve had bnha on my list for ages! i need to just hunker down and watch it since i’ve heard so many good things abt that one. gosh, i wish i had the patience to read the manga! one of my friends was so impatient between the episode releases that they ended up reading the manga, so kudos to their patience lolll. but omg, that makes me happy to hear that! :3 i’ll definitely announce any future plans!

and, the other two animes are really good! knb is what got me into sports anime, and free is such a feel good show, definitely one of my favorite comfort shows. if you ever get around to watching them, i would love to hear your thoughts!

to answer your question: i’m almost certain to start writing for haikyuu!!, which i finished rewatching in an embarrassingly short amount of time, and i’m considering writing for kuroko no basket and free! since i started rewatching those as well.

thank you, i truly appreciate it! truthfully, i’m still deciding on whether i might post that work here or make another blog altogether since it seems a little unfair of me to post stories for a different fandom when this blog garnered followed through my kpop muses. we shall see though!

You hate the way wonder feels, proceeds. The way what-if’s take root as if they have any business pondering such preposterous things. And all the same, you can’t help any of it, because you are human.

Jeongguk has always had a home in the back of your mind. You’ve known him for years, probably eons if you could describe the kind of camaraderie you two formed all those years ago. Largely thanks to your aunt, his mother’s best friend, who probably spent more time at your house with your mom than she did with anyone else.

You have known him through the awkward phases and the emo phases, and have finally reached that phase in life where you two can laugh at all of it. You have seen him go from a gangly boy to a chisel-chested man, though you aren’t sure at what point that happened, but that shift, those mere months of his baby fat becoming high cheekbones and a defined jawline, his mere leanness gaining muscular heft, still baffles you.

This boy you had seen through the years, counseled and supported as well, had, for a lack of a better word, changed. He had become… attractive, much to your chagrin.

The same boy you had put in headlocks and jammed out to all the hard rock bands too. It feels almost strange to remember he was also the same kid that put together a whole dance break to Bohemian Rhapsody, though he had roped you in on the whole extravaganza, you remember it too vividly, never considered for a moment that you might actually find Jeon Jeongguk wholly attractive.

And yet, you did.

If you might be honest, and heaven forbid he ever hears any of it, you love all those phases of his. Not only that, you love being a part of it. You love that you and only you can share those moments with him because no one else has seen that true-to-heart dorky side to him, besides your mutual friends, and never quite any of his previous partners. At least not that you were ever made aware of.

Hell, the last time he was with anyone was over a couple of months ago, and from the sound of it, that fizzled out fast. Chaeyoung had been sweet, a girl you admittedly liked out of the others he had tried pursuing, and yet she had stopped coming around a lot sooner than you expected. When you asked him about it, he simply brushed it off and cited that things hadn’t worked out, they wanted different things, whatever that meant. His look that day had incited an inkling of something in you, hope maybe, but you waved off the idea altogether.

For Jeon Jeongguk to like you back, even love you, is an idea, a wonder, you don’t quite like to linger in for too long. The very principle of liking someone so close to you, in childhood and in friendship, feels unnerving, uncertain. Too cliché. Truly one wrong move away from him probably leaving your life because you decided to make things awkward. Hence why you hate to indulge in these thoughts at all.

He doesn’t like me back, you tell yourself. I’m like a sister to him.

At least you like to think so. You think you have to.

“Hello earth to space cadet,” you hear him say. His visage becomes clearer; a little more golden under the warm floor lamp lighting, lips a little puckered to keep in the giggle, and doe-like eyes on you, searching. You remember right then that you’re with Jeongguk, in your bedroom, hiding out from the rest of the hullabaloo outside these familiar walls

You blink. “I’m sorry, what’d you say?” you punctuate it with a laugh, a nervous one that hardly goes unnoticed. Luckily for you, he doesn’t question it.

Instead he asks, “What’s on your mind?”

“Nothing,” you shake your head almost immediately, “just… nah, it’s nothing. Where were we?”

His mouth goes slightly agape, no doubt a question in mind, before he decides against it, and replies, “Well, you were about to say something outrageous. That or go back out there and face the drunken aunties. I bet they’re waiting to give us more shots.”

“Oh god no,” you blanch.

You think for a second about what you might do, the safer option being the latter, but your mouth reacts differently, wondering what might happen. After all, you aren’t held to this confession. You can cite the silly game you guys are playing. A relaxed version of truth or dare that has never become too much more than just saying what celebrities you two would bang or what friends you think are secretly serial killers. It’s one of those games where you can say nearly anything, and it doesn’t necessarily need a hint of truth, just adventurousness.

You feel that for some reason, perhaps to finally live out what confessing might feel like. As much as you hate it, you like the idea of getting things over with. Hearing the truth. You think it might help alleviate the fluttering in your stomach and the incessant chattering in your chest.

“Me being in love with you.”

No doubt you say this with a lot less joviality than you might’ve if you were joking, but the words feel too right to try and play off. You took your chance. You aren’t sure what the outcome will be, and it sits a lot longer than you expect. It unnerves you.

“What…” Jeongguk says, then blinks. “Really?”

You stand up from the bed then. The denial stays in your throat, your opportunity to save face slipping away by the second.

“I—I should go.”

“Wait,” he says, a visible gulp when you look fully at him. “Don’t you want to know how I feel?”

“As in… you feel the same… about me?” You point at yourself, a little dazed, wondering if this is real.

He nods, pointing to you. “Yes, you.”

You have to take a seat, a deep exhale as you do, before you look at him and meet his beautiful brown doe-like eyes. Right then, you can’t help but let out a laugh of relief.

“Holy fuck…”

He joins in.

“I know right?”

Hardly to plan, not that you ever made one to begin with, you can’t say you hate how wonder feels anymore. It’s quite nice actually.

No doubt you say this with a lot less joviality than you might’ve if you were joking, but the words feel too right to try and play off. You took your chance. You aren’t sure what the outcome will be, and it sits a lot longer than you expect. It unnerves you.

“What…” Jeongguk says, then blinks. “Really?”

You stand up from the bed then. The denial stays in your throat, your opportunity to save face slipping away by the second.

“I—I should go.”

“Wait,” he says, a visible gulp when you look fully at him. “Don’t you want to know how I feel?”

“As in… you feel the same… about me?” You point at yourself, a little dazed, wondering if this is real.

He nods, pointing to you. “Yes, you.”

You have to take a seat, a deep exhale as you do, before you look at him and meet his beautiful brown doe-like eyes. Right then, you can’t help but let out a laugh of relief.

“Holy fuck…”

He joins in.

“I know right?”

Hardly to plan, not that you ever made one to begin with, you can’t say you hate how wonder feels anymore. It’s quite nice actually.
