The breeze coming from the lake was refreshing, Chongyun thought, feeling as it tousled his hair and moved the delicate wings on his back. It was strange to feel them, like another set of arms or legs. He was strangely calm. The librarian had said something about him being in shock, not that Chongyun felt any different beside the sudden buzz under his skin from so much elemental energy.
So maybe he was freaking out a bit, and the alchemist girl was apologizing to him still with tears in her eyes. She'd been beside herself ever since she'd accidentally given him one of her potions instead of the safe ones sold by the Traveler. They were standing nearby too talking to the chief alchemist. His friend's artist buddy Calx was calmly making notes now.
The wings twitched and he could feel it.
“Fascinating,” Albedo was saying. “They seem to respond to outward stimuli as if they've always been a part of you.”
“Now's not the time for experiments!” Paimon was screeching, looking probably the most frazzled. Or maybe his friends looked worse. Xiangling was still too shocked for words and Xingqiu looked undecided between worry and fascination. Chongyun sighed. “How…how long is this potion going to last?”
Albedo held his chin and looked at him in thought. “Hard to say. Succrose's potion was meant to encourage binding elemental energies of two different kinds together for plant growth. You're neither a plant organism nor can I say why your body reacted this way to the tincture. In short, I am drawing a blank.”
“Does this mean Chongyun is going to become a plant???” Paimon exploded.
Albedo shook his head. “Nothing this drastic, Paimon. From what I determined, the growth is of pure elemental energy.”
Chongyun glanced at the wing like extensions. Blue, shimmering, translucent and enormous.
