i finally have the day off and i’m still hella sleepy so i’m drinkin’ coffee and waiting to wake up before i actually do stuff :3 in the meantime, i’ll be around if you wanna plot and such!

“ you should get yourself a puppy.” eliot shrugged, the suggestion more of a dig regarding her lack to not mother something rather than a genuine idea. “ good to see you’re working on your issues though. HELL, maybe cash going to rehab with be the best thing that’s ever happened to you.” he hoped not, for her sake. otherwise that would mean she’d lived a very depraved life. “ it’s minimalist i guess. i’m not really the kind of person that has stuff. ” he looked around his lounge, knowing what he meant, even if he hadn’t found the right words to describe it. “ — i mean like pictures and tchotchkes. if i want to look back at my life i’ll just google my name.” the words were vain but spoken with an emotion that came closer to sadness. “ let me guess, you’re the kind of person that has like photos plastered all over your walls and SHIT.” he paused, taking the scotch that noelle still had in her hands without asking and pouring in in the two glasses. “ i’m not even surprised.”
“y’know, i would, but spencer’s already got a cockatoo in the house, so i’d rather not start a zoo.” noelle rolled her eyes slightly, shrugging a little. “well, in all honesty, i’m just glad the wakeup call came. it was time.” her eyes fell on eliot’s briefly, an unspoken message. you knew that just as well as i did. his words tugged at something within her, though, and while it wasn’t the need to mother him, it was something synonymous with concern. “i guess i can understand wanting to block out certain parts of your life.” or the majority of it, it seemed. her mouth fell open in disbelief, and she let out a low laugh. “no, actually. a few pics on the fridge, a vase of flowers in the center of the kitchen table. m’not looking for your house to be a stationary, ongoing art project, y’know. i could care less. it’s just--” sad. quiet. “--empty.”

NOELLE: Hey, little brother. *pauses, chuckles breathlessly* I know you're rolling your eyes at that, right? I--Um, I know it's only been a handful of days and I know what you're thinking and /yes/, don't worry, I've actually gone out and adulted and spent a lot of time with Gavin and Spence and Lottie, but I thought I'd leave you something so that you'd...you'd know how proud I am of you, you know? Spence got a cockatoo. Kind of an adjustment, being that a bird isn't a human and all... but hopefully you'll be able to see 'im. *She pauses, hugging her knees to her chest and collecting her thoughts.* I'm so proud of you, and I want you to know that I love you, and I hope you're doing okay, all things considered. Uh--and I actually hung out with Eliot the other day. That was...weird. *She laughs softly, taking another long pause* I miss you. I know I'm overbearing and probably--definitely-- dramatic, but I do all that because you're my family. And I love you. Again. I'll say it as much as you need me to, okay, prince? Fiercely forever. And...*she pauses* perhaps longer than that. Hope to hear from you soon. Bye.

the uncertainty in noelle’s voice wasn’t even a surprise to eliot. in fact, uncertainty seemed to be the usual feeling eliot had whenever he started a conversation with the girl. that didn’t seem like something which was going to go away any time soon. “ JEESH, that must be torture for you. not being able to check up on him or baby him — not that you do that, obviously.” he backtracked quickly, not wanting to delve in to that debate again. as the conversation died slightly, eliot watched noelle as she looked around. something about someone being in his house, analyzing his stuff, felt intrusive to him. even if he didn’t have anything personal on display. “ i’m a criminal on the run. can’t have things that trace back to my real identity.” the joke rolled of eliot’s tongue with ease before he made his way back to noelle, two glasses in hand. “ what’s wrong with it exactly anyways? i’ve got a pool, wine cabinet, some abstract artsy SHIT. how’s that not lively?”
one brow arched quickly at the comment eliot had made, but frankly--noelle was done arguing with him. “not torture. just...i guess, different? i literally have to put all my faith in the rehab facility on top of the faith i put in him. god forbid i’m ‘too trusting.’ i’m working on that, by the way.” she sighed, shoulders slumping slightly. “nothing’s wrong with it, per se. it just--feels a little empty, i guess, but i kind of swore off psychoanalyzing you. turning over a new leaf, even though we’re nine months into this year.” she laughed wryly. “it’s not my business what you do here, or don’t do. you just...y’know, from an outsider’s point of view, one might see this house and think it’s so nice, right? then they come in and look around and it’s almost empty. there’s nothing personal about it. except for the wine glasses.”
