okay but I'm being super serious when I say I don't know about this cryptid Ben Smith meme and I'm super confused lol

I don’t….even know where to start. A long time ago, in a place far, far away, a planet more beautiful than you can imagine, Ben Smith was born. He was the ultimate being (not human but not not human). He was brave, talented, and glorious. He was everything one could imagine. But one day he decided he wanted to be a regular human. He traveled to Earth, and our leader started playing hockey. Eventually he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs and became Captain. That is where we come in. A group of hockey lovers formed a Leafs GC to commune over hockey. The group joked Smith was a ‘ghost’ because despite his enormous talent, many forgot he was on the team. One day, a girl suggested she should buy a Ben Smith jersey instead of an Auston Matthews jersey. And so the meme began. No one is quite sure what Ben Smith is. But we can all agree he is the best.
