nohrfidelis:
The grin he gets in return is worth a thousand times more than every one of his quiet smiles, but he’s most definitely glad to see it. Maybe he’s not everything she thinks he is, and he’s definitely nowhere near as great, but what he does know is that if he objects, he’ll most definitely get an earful from the exuberant princess in front of him. The idea of it is sweet, and the corner of his mouth quirks upwards in spite of himself, but it would be time better spent with both of them enjoying each other’s company.
So he focuses instead on the vibrance of her tone (and he’s sure that if sunshine had a sound, it would be her voice), on the range of her expressions, charming in a way that only Elise can be, and he finds that a laugh easily burbles to the surface, low and warm and gods, he’d forgotten how comfortable her company was. He has never considered her to be particularly ladylike, but she has always been very Elise-like (and of the two, Silas finds he much prefers the latter).
“I hope your fingers are alright,” he replies, chuckling again; even as he continues, the ghosts of his laughter pepper his words, and he casts her a lopsided grin. “Are you having fun, at least? It– hm?” He pauses for a moment, considering the offer. He’d never been one to ask for a favor from others, but there was no denying just how much the thought of food appealed to him at the moment. Eventually, his hand finds its way to the back of his neck, his fingertips brushing against his hair as his grin turned sheepish.
“Food sounds nice,” he finally relents, as if he’s somehow burdened Elise with the knowledge that yes, knights also eat food, just like the rest of the human population. Scandalous..! “Surprise me?”
“Of course it sounds nice! Food always is!” A sly grin creeps across her face as her eyes glint at his words, “Surprise you? Ohoho! You are going to eat your words--literally--as you eat the best food you have ever tasted on this side of Nohr!” She grabs his hand and starts to head in the direction of the cafe. His hand is large and warm in hers. It reminds her of when she’s holding Xander’s hand while they walk around the castle, or when she’s out shopping in the market while holding Camilla’s hand. It’s pleasant and she never wants to let go.
They end up in front of a quaint little place, with a couple tables and chairs outside. Potted plants line the side of the door. A sign hanging above them reads “Rose Garden Patissiere and Tea.” Somehow, it fits on the wooden board with curly, flowery letters. The sweet scent of freshly baked bread and coffee waft into the street.
“Cute, right? I love the croissants and the sweet rose tea. And the tarts here are to die for~” Elise sings the last three words as she gazes lovingly at the cafe. She shakes herself out of her reverie and grins. “Come on, you dashing knight! Let’s go!” The princess eagerly pushes Silas in ahead of her, “Find a table and I’ll order you the best food and dessert of your life!”
