When he had been running through the forest, following his canine companion he had heard the most enchanting voice. Momentarily he had stopped, Gold coming to a halt as well. he could hear the words, however he couldn’t understand what they meant. Regardless he was on a mission. Nevertheless that was minutes before this very moment. Considering the singing was from in the same direction, and it had stopped when he saw Iris he could assume she was the one that sang.
Right now she had questioned him. Understandably so. It was pretty late, and usually people weren’t out in the forest like this. He had begun to realize his surroundings. They were near a small spring, and the moonlight had made it seem mystical. Before he could respond to her question as to why he was here, she noticed the bouquet.
Her words had puzzled him. She was the only one here, and he came all this way. Does she not like them? She looks angry, but sounds confused…. Maybe she’s shocked? Then again it’s late at night… He smiled and nodded at her question without hesitation.
“Of course!” The words were quite brave, yet they held innocence within them. It was evident that he wasn’t playing any tricks on her. Speaking of which he didn’t want to keep her too late. “Your singing is amazing iris,” he said as he prepared to leave. Bending down to pet his canine companion as a reward for finding her.
•。 ❀ 𝒩ever in her wildest dreams did she ever expect such an unbelievable act of kindness from, practically, stranger - much less a human. Iris graced her hand over her heart, anxiously playing with her intricate fingers as she accepted the reality that he was not merely a figment of her lonely imagination. Crossing the illusory battlefield between her contradictory emotions, the vampire was conflicted on how to respond to the gentleman - for it was clear he had been searching for her specifically, considering the employment of assistance from his dedicated pup. Recollecting the memories of their previous interaction, the young woman could have almost giggled had she not been in between a rock and a hard place emotionally; yet, it was that fondness that she held in her heart towards him - especially now with his gracious offering of flowers. Alas, she also remembered the last human she thought to be genuine and caring - prior to abandoning her to, ultimately, wither away until Gelwein rescued her; still, he ingrained into her the golden rule that no human should be trusted with their greedy and selfish intentions. Besides, as he oftentimes reminded her, who would honestly love someone like her anyway - not even human.
𝒲ithin that moment, however, an atypical sense of reassurance and confidence washed over her - along with the voices of the spirits chiming in her ears. Iris closed her eyes, contemplating on her intuitive decision to fight or flight. Then, she thought of her friend bearing pink hair who was human; yet, Gelwein seemed to like her. And if she could trust her, then maybe... just maybe... she proceeded to open her eyes, noticing his movement as if he were planning to leave. “... Wait.”
𝒫ausing, the vampire transfixed her gaze from the bouquet of flowers to his chocolate brown eyes - abruptly turning around to walk towards the spring where she leaned forward and picked up one of the flowers there. “I came here... to show my appreciation to the spirits,” she spoke calmly before facing him with a white calla lily in hand, “and now... I wish to show my appreciation... to you.” Iris sighed quietly, carefully walking up to him to extend her hand and give him a flower.
