Hm.
That feeling when you try to make a new Theory, but the boys at Yoglabs (totally not Tumblr’s new system being dumb) are too quick and you’re silenced.
I’d just uploaded it too and it’s already been Redacted. I’ll try and see if it’ll get repealed, those Yoglabs boys won’t stop my theories! (But inaccurate Tumblr bots might idk.)
07/01/2019
Huh.
*Checks Amy’s page.*
New page is out.
Don’tyellaboutitdon’tyellaboutitdon’tyellaboutit-
BABY BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
(Also I find it ironic that he’s doing the Peter Pan pose and now being of what’s happened in the latest pages, he’ll never grow up! ;D)
Well, with Amy saying she might make a post of all the little things in it.. I may as well have a bit of a guess myself, hmm?~
Also maybe a theory I’ll see how this goes.
Right, first thoughts:
We’ll go from the simpler to the more theory-territory as we go.
So, first,
-Strife Solutions sign
I find it absolutely adorable he already had the name of his company ready since he was little, as ‘Strife Solutions’ is his company name, and this lemonade stand idea was already shown to us in page 69.
(God, this is an adorable panel. Xephos aside, I mean.)
Next,
The sword and glasses.
The sword does look different to the sword Xephos has in page 69, shown above, but if we look at the sword at a different angle..
(Via Page 78)
Same sword!
Aaand if we look at the glasses, with this photo Amy drew of younger Strife,
(Via https://tmblr.co/ZHF4Mv2UhUtJf)
We can see that it’s the same, or at least very similar glasses, to the ones Xephos has.
..Hm. Quick sidetrack, whilst I was looking through Amy’s blog, I saw a weird thing about how the glasses seem to be split into 2 ways the glasses are worn, both of which are actually shown in the photo above, with the other art piece that goes along with it.
There’s rounded, and the more square ones. It might just be perspective or the way the art’s done, but it seems like the more rounded glasses pre-Xephos fight, and JUST after the fight with Xephos where he’s been defeated, and the squarer glasses post-Xephos fight, eg.
Pre-Xephos (also slightly post-fight but also in the same scene) fight glasses:
(Pages 72-74)
Whilst the post-fight glasses more square, or what we can see of them from his limited remaining time on-screen RIP:
(Page 89)
And, as we can see, Xephos’ glasses from the photo are rounded:
Either this is some big weird coincidence I’ve stepped into, or Strife was previously given/bought a pair of glasses that were or were akin to Xephos’, and then when he found out Xephos’ ‘True Nature’ (as soon by Xephos’ eyes in Strife’s eyes being completely red instead of just the blue and red), it possibly symbolises Strife no longer idolising Xephos as much after realising who (or what) he really is.
OR, again, it’s just me seeing too into things.
Man.
Glasses got me really ranting there for a moment, sorry.
Where we we?
Ah yes, let’s keep going on the Xephos train. Let’s take a closer look at his hair.
...God some of the things I say because of this get weird.
Specifically this bit. If we look at it, compared to current-day Xephos’ hair flick..
(Via https://tmblr.co/ZHF4Mv1zLbuqE)
It’s not entirely noticeable, but we can stt his hair flicks up at the top, and it looks a lot more rogue-ish and less clean than his modern-day iteration.
Quick mid-theory update, whilst looking through page 76, I saw this.
Which makes it look like Xephos’ hair in the photo is between this Xephos and early-Yoglabs Xephos.
In fact, whilst we’re on the subject, it’s the same thing that happens with Honeydew’s horns, too, they’re not his current-day horns.
(Present-day horns via: https://tmblr.co/ZHF4Mv28sX5yg)
But, you know where both Xephos and Honeydew have these designs for their heads?
Here!
We can see that, whilst it’s not the exact same as the hair Lewis has in the photograph (could be down to stylistic changes, like how his hero jacket’s also changed and confirmed to be stylistic change), it’s more similar in way of it looking less.. clean. Sterilised, in a way, as well as Honeydew’s horns being spikey and not nubbed, not to mention the fact he doesn’t have his wolf pelt in either photograph.
Although, interesting to note, as well as a good segue, in the second photo, First day on the job, we can see that Xephos’ eyes are red..
But, if you look back at the newest photo of Xephos Honeydew and Strife, they’re..
Blue. Huh.
Man I wish I’d be able to figure out what his eyes mean. Bane of my existence. Possibly something to do with proximity to Yoglabs? It can’t be his hero outfit that makes the change, as seen, it can’t be Simon, he’s in the second one.. It’s some sort of perspective thing maybe, as seen with Strife’s view of his eyes turning red when Strife realised...
Well, it’s a thing, his eyes are blue in this photo, and have red in the other one.
Good for future reference.
Geez, this is long. Sorry y’all, hope this is interesting ha ha.
Anyways, last thing is Honeydew’s scar... thing. This is actually the first time I think we’ve seen it, on his back.
Most times he’s wearing his wolf’skin cape pelt thing, and this looks like it’s most likely from this injury he was given by The Shadow of a Monster. (Not calling it Israphel as it hasn’t been directly acknowledged to actually be Israphel in-comic even if it’s obvious to me that it would be. Plot twists and all.)
Oh, owe oof my heart.
Which means this is before he got his cape/pelt thing to presumably cover the injury.. although this does make me wonder why he’d get it later, if he was comfortable with it being out in photos like this...
Well, it’s either early Yoglabs, which is my personal theory, or it’s pre-Yoglabs as some others have guessed. Feel free to add on anything I may have missed, if you’ve sharper eyes than I.
Before I close this long post off, I would like to look at the actual picture frame and glasses in the page itself (page 91.)
Dunno if it’s intentional, but I think it’s neat the Strife’s glasses and the photo + the frame are mostly unharmed (which is strange seeing as everything else seems to be rubble and destroyed, and those were from the highest level where they’d have far to fall as well as both being very fragile items.
They both seem to have the same/a VERY similar break/crack pattern!
Aaaaalso quick side-theory that either Strife isn’t dead, or someone planted this for Rythian to find, because the photo was placed-down with the glasses on top, but they most likely would have been blasted away from each other, and it looks like they were placed down together. Unlike Lalnable, where we saw that Lal had uploaded his memories and he therefore had died, we haven’t had proof in-universe that the explosion had completely killed Strife.
But that’s probably just me being optimistic, huh?
(Plus the frame is the same colour as Xephos’s sheath for his sword with is kind of cute.)

So, Miss Evans has a new Comic Page out, and boy does it make me excited to see the explosion. Yes, another explosion. Are you even surprised? It’s Yoglabs, come on.
On to the theory, friends.. and others.
And, as always, Spoilers. ;3
Poor guy isn’t even in the background anymore. Also, since I’m already making this post now so I don’t have to make a second, shorter one soon, and I know Someone has seen these, I do have something to get off of my chest.
I SEE YOU. AND YOUR EVIL FULLY RED EYE WAYS. EVIL MAN.
I mean ah-ehem. It appears Mr Xephos’ eyes have gone a rather strange pigment again. Interesting.. Very interesting.

Okay! So, in the latest page, we see that it, unlike one of my previous assumptions, is not Rythian OR Lalna that annoyed Doctor Coffee by appearing, as neither of them are nearby. Instead, we do not get to see what really set him off, but with the reaction of Lalna and Rythian during their very interesting conversation (That will probably get an entire theory on its own let’s be honest), that they’re also interrupted by something. Seeing as Rythian says in the space below the page:
It means it was probably something to do with an explosion (as well as the colours in the last 2 panels showing something that could be guessed at as light from an explosion here.
(Also I find it great that Rythian’s eye scarf ALSO looks over at it. Such detail much scarf.)
He looks over his left shoulder, and we see earlier in the page what’s over his left shoulder:
Strife Solutions tower.
Which, by the way, looks strangely as if it’s.. off? I mean, you can clearly see some lights on at the top, but in other pages you can see that light’s usually a lot brighter.
(Page 85)
(Page 84)
(Page 82)
All of these are at different times of day, and all of them look brighter than the current-page building!
But, come now, you really think I would make a theory based on only the evidence of Rythian turning and looking in that direction!
I mean- probably- but let’s continue!
We can see in the background of Page 87, the Strife building whilst both Kim and Doctor Coffee have their discussion.
The building is also to Doctor Coffee’s left as it was to Rythian, as seen here:
And when the two of them get disrupted from their conversation, same as the other two, he looks over his left shoulder, also in the direction of Strife Solutions tower.
As seen here!
However, there’s something else I was barely able to catch upon looking back on the page after reading Page 88!
If you look carefully at Strife Solutions tower..
Right there, it’s like.. well, to be perfectly honest it’s most akin to the glint in Lewis’ eyes he gets sometimes, except not Red. And after this glint appears, Kim gets cut off (or cuts herself off) And Doctor Coffee looks over at that time as well.
But, who would do such a thing? What kind of mean, terrible person would commit such a heinous act of villainy, against poor- yeah, okay, I’m not fooling anyone. We all know it’s most likely Xephos let’s be real folks.
Hell, we even have some evidence for that too, and the evidence is on the same page as one of the photos of Strife Solutions Building I used earlier!
How convenient!
Hell, the entirety of Page 82 can be seen as pretty damning evidence against Xephos for this- and it’s a good thing our good old local Wizard Batman was there.
The man’s Paranoid about Strife, and if Strife knows anything, and he’s talking to his best buddy Lal (A great idea I’m sure).
But, the most obvious piece of evidence is at the very end of the page, when Doctor Coffee asks him a simple question.
“You’re the Control Freak, you tell me... what are you going to do about it?”
What, Xephos having some sort of control over Strife at some point? Now, when would he have had the opportunity to do any sort of controlling over Strife? I mean, that’s totally crazy, we’ve only seen one interaction and- okay yeah this is getting old here’s the evidence stuff.
With the documents transferred over, there’s no reason for Strife Solutions to be kept around anymore, at any rate. We’ve seen Xephos controlling Strife before, ala their fight and these events afterwards.
Hell, like I said, the glint on the tower’s even the same as the glint Lewis’ eye gets, although that may just be stylistic choice.
I just hope poor Strife got himself and his employees out safely before whatever’s going to happen.
But that’s just the usual! Now, on to some ideas..
18/9/18
I’ve seen something flying around that was asked of Amy that if Lal created the two clones as a part of an experiment, and I wanted to look into that more to see how much it made sense, and I found this on Lal’s blog.
It seems that, with him saying he’s missed out on it, that he wasn’t the one that made Lalna and Lalnable respectively, and that he needs to fix the machines that made the clones since there’s a lot of levels in divergence, AND his works. It must be something on Yoglabs’ end... maybe Xephos did it?
Crack theory: Lewis is using the clones to try and get someone who’s as much of a genius as Lal but is easier to control than Lal.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On to the next order of business, with the case. Amy’s shown the colour scheme of the briefcase Lal has, and that Hatfilms used to have.
The first thing I have to say about this logo is that it’s not the current one, as seen here:
Seeing as it has, as Amy has said, the Big Door of Yoglabs behind it. I’ve been researching it, and it comes up only twice that I know of so far, although that’s not a solid number yet.
The first one is seen the time where Doctor Coffee first starts working at Yoglabs, as seen on his blog, as it’s on the doors to the facility.
And again, here, on this photo of.. Lal.
But if you look, whilst the ‘Top secret’ file he’s reading DOES have the circle like the above photos, his Mug... doesn’t. Which is more than a bit weird, something something, different departments maybe? Or it’s an old file? Also he doesn’t have his Goatee, but a beard like Duncan’s, which is weirder..
Seeing as both of these have something to do with Lal, look back at the colour scheme of the logo.
Look familiar?
It should.
Admittedly I did not find this originally myself and had only realised it when miss KTechnicolour had pointed it out, so props to her on finding it for me.
It even has the same gradient as Lal’s speaking colour scheme, which is opposite to his Tumblr background of this:
But the colours are there.
Seeing this, I decided to continue digging to see what else I could find about the briefcase, and I found this on Doctor Coffee’s blog.
Maybe what’s in the briefcase is some of his old work that Lewis said was destroyed but was actually hidden from him for.. reasons. I haven’t a reason for those, except for the fact that Mister Xephos seems the very... paranoid type of man, to put it lightly. This also works doubly well if we’re going by the Xephos crack theory I addressed earlier.
This means Lal’s getting some of the work he made back from being essentially confiscated.
So, my urrent Theory for what’s in the case?
It’s an Enderman heart.
The real question is what he plans to do with it...
Theory under the cut bc it’s a little long like the last one and to avoid Lab Buddies Spoilers, which will probably become the usual for most of my posts?
So, the new page came out and there was quite the interesting conversation about magic and it gave me some ideas- specifically on the wording of Duncan saying that magic is like radiation and it sticks to things- but even more interesting is the response..
Which is an excellent point. If Duncan’s statement is true and, in fact, Magic is akin to radiation, then there must be a source for the magic to have impacted on Lewis- but then again if the cloning process seemingly removes a person’s arcane aptitude then is someone able to have Arcane Aptitude given to them by an outside entity? Or must they have a high Arcane Aptitude already? In Kim’s case we know she had to have had a high enough Arcane Aptitude to get infected with the illness, but maybe Lewis’ is a case of when whatever happened to him happened he still had a high Arcane Aptitude before magic was seeped out of the world- but that with the cloning doesn’t make sense unless a person’s Arcane Aptitude can be somehow manipulated- but this mini-rant is besides the point.
There are currently two possibilities I am thinking of on how this can be achieved- the first is less plausible than the second so we will get that one out of the way. The first possibility is Simon- or, Simon’s sword. It was just a passing thought and nothing I have concrete evidence of- but a passing thought is important to it nonetheless in case I find more information on the subject later.
The second possibility is the one you, my dear reader (because there’s probably only one of you reading this far, if at all ;3), have probably already guessed that I theorise it to be- Israphel. Or, more accurately as we still do not have complete confirmation that it is Israphel- The Shadow (which until there is concrete proof it’s actually called Israphel I will furthermore continue to refer to it as such).
It would make sense, for that to be what it is- we know that there is at least some remnant of the Shadow left behind and we know for a fact that there is, at least in part, a remnant of it after it’s presumed death at the hands of the two heroes- as well as this being when Lewis gains an addition to his eye pigment which seems to be connected to his influence, or ‘mind control.’
We know there is at least some sort of remnant of the Shadow (that looks kind of like oil, maybe Xephos shoved it up his ass to go into space? ;) ) after Xephos delivers the final blow in defeating it and, one second after within the animation- we are greeted with this image.
With his eyes now having red in them after having defeated the Shadow. The entity that is giving Mr Xephos his powers may be anywhere- somewhere within Yoglabs, but I have two working theories on where it could be although one is a little shaky. I’ll let you decide which one.
The first one is simple- as one of Mr Xephos’ oldest friends and most trusted people since he doesn’t even need to manipulate him- whatever the entity is, Shadow in nature or not, could be in the hands of Doctor Coffee. Amy herself has said that:
‘Lal has some hefty leverage over Xephos.’
If Doctor Coffee was the only person Mr Xephos trusted with his memories, then he could theoretically also be the person he would trust with his source of power- see previous post for pseudo-evidence that Doctor Coffee has knowledge over Mr Xephos’ Arcane Aptitude (See: ‘It’s 15% more than me.’) And, as for the ‘Lal is rather apathetic to things outside his work.’, Doctor Coffee’s departments are ‘Dimensional Travel’ and ‘The Arcane’ both things that the Shadow would fall under- and it’s not like Doctor Coffee doesn’t have some sort of prior working knowledge of the Nether- he has a portal to it in his Laboratory, and the Shadow used a Nether Portal in his battle against the two of Misters Honeydew and Xephos.
Evidence shown below (Circled the one in Doctor Coffee’s photo, as it is in the background):
The other theory I had about what Xephos has his magic to do that I mentioned is FAR less plausible but I thought it was a cool possibility- It’s in the briefcase.
Who knows, if Doctor Coffee really wanted to investigate it, he could have hired Hatfilms to get it- but, again I think whatever the item is probably is more connected to Endermen than Xephos- unless those two things are connected somehow. Oh well, a theory for another day.
Okay so- update first, I’ve actually got a small team of Theorists with me now to help me evaluate and theorise more efficiently, whom I won’t name but I may refer them by nicknames once those nicknames have actually been thought up of.
Now on to the bits of interesting things, under the cut of course.
So, here is a screenshot I have of Israphel - Or the ‘Shadow of a Monster’ that we’re going to assume is Israphel- from the, as of now, latest page of Lab Buddies- Page 76.
Pay good attention to the pose he has, the positioning of his feet, his jacket/cloak. Does it look familiar? It probably should. It’s got similarities to this:
Doesn’t it? Or, if you’d like to have a better look at specifically Lewis from this shot-
Even his footing is similar to that of the Shadow in the above screenshot, and the placement of his left hand. By doing some further investigation into the coat to make sure the two are as similar as I believed- and I came across this shot from the latest page.
Specifically the part in the bottom of the Shadow’s jacket/coat.I found a reference for Xephos’ clothes, including his coat, on Amy’s Tumblr.
I don’t know, it just seems very similar. Photo of Xeph’s coat- partially for future reference - here. https://tmblr.co/ZHF4Mv2DlEc3j
We can’t compare the colours of the two because there is no different colours for the Shadow’s clothing- however the part at the bottom isn’t the only similarity.
Using this photo of Israphel here, look at his sleeves.
They also just seem STRANGELY similar to Mr Xephos’-
As pictured here. The only idea I have about if they WERE somehow related with their coat/other. . . similarities. .
Cough cough.
Even the structure of their face is somewhat similar. .But, then, of course.
Only thing I think could explain this is TIME TRAVEL. We already know dimensional travel is possible. Anyways- that’s enough of that. . for now.
On another note- does anyone know what the writing on the outside of this ship says?
It looks like ‘YOG-C_ _’ or something similar, but I can’t make out exactly what it is. . YOG-CO7? YOG-C0T? I honestly cannot make it out. There is also the potion flash on the side of it, but there’s a better view of that inside the ship.
Here it is. I hope it’s also similar- like a lot of things here. . . Because, it’s Yoglab’s symbol. Kind of.
The Yoglabs one is bubbling up, whilst the one on the ship is stagnant. Almost like they’ve made a breakthrough..
Also, seeing THIS..
Makes me a bit more concerned about THIS.
Damn Nether Portals. Speaking of Portals.. Here’s the one Lewis went through-
Which is a. reminding me of the Timecops Portal, and b. The same colour as Xephos’ eyes after they turn red- which co-incidentally happens after he kills The Shadow.
And, as it said in the latest page. What we assume to be Israphel is the Shadow of a Monster. Just. . which Monster?
Theory under the cut bc it’s a little long like the last one and to avoid Lab Buddies Spoilers, which will probably become the usual for most of my posts?
So after some. . . deliberations and looking at page 68, I had previously been under the impression that Lal leaving here:
Was because of the influence of Mother fading on Kim and Lal getting mad at not being able to see it, but another idea is because of what he saw behind her (Which Amy hinted at.)
Which is this:
Which is probably about the Hatters being arrested again. Which is to ask, why would LAL of all people be mad about the Hatters getting arrested unless. . .
Lal hired some Legitimate Business Men to get him WHATEVER was actually IN that case? No wonder he looks so angry in this panel:
He’s looking annoyedly toward the TV screen, and what does he say?
Change of plans, that he has to get back to work. What kind of work, I’m not sure- but seeing the colour that was being emitted by WHATEVER was in that damn case makes me think of a certain something else.
A colour associated with not only The Enderborn, but the End. Maybe something that he needed to continue . . . his research, perhaps? Or, for other reasons. But I don’t have too much of a clue what those would be yet- but it’s something.
Adding onto this, and I feel kind of dumb for not adding this from Amy’s Tumblr-
About the man himself.
Also- maybe a dual nature between his Hero half, and his. . Yoglabs half? It’s probably specifically something about Simon- but maybe Simon can bring out the Hero half in him most of the time???
Warning- Will contain Spoilers for Lab Buddies. Read at your own risk.
One of my more obvious theories here- but a good one to start off with! Lewis Xephos may actually legitimately have mind control powers that correlate to his eye. . . strangeness? His red pupils within his eyes, I mean. What the extent of his powers are I do not know, but there is some proof I’d like to show nonetheless.
Some of the evidence we can see of his mind control is on Page 72, during his fight with Strife. Before I delve into the Big evidence for it, let’s take a look at Strife and Lewis’ short-lived fight here.
Here’s a close up of Lewis’ eyes, but do you see that little streak of red coming out of his eyes? He has that the entire fight, even when Strife cuts his hair (RIP Hair)
But then, we see he’s looking at Strife- but on the next page with Strife’s eyes actually in view, what do we see?
Oh dear Strife, what are those familiar red Streaks from your eyes? It seems he’s played right into Xephos’ hands- but the next part is where it gets interesting.
Not only is his eye doing the Thing (specifically the Left Eye but that’ll wait for another theory) but his TEXT has also gotten Red around it as well, which isn’t usual for a majority for Xephos’ text.
But Simon, who had been watching with this expression just before,
does this.
But if we take a closer look at the men’s faces.
Here’s Strife, but unlike what the panel before showed, his eyes aren’t red. But you know whose eyes ARE red?
Simon’s and Lewis- which shows that Mr Xephos may have different forms of his. . persuasion. Hell, sometimes he doesn’t even have to BE there to have control over people.
It even has his Motif in it of the blue circuitry. Huh. That phrase DOES seem to be a powerful one..
I really do feel bad for poor Strife.. But again- the same red text, and Strife’s and Xephos’ eyes (or at least the reflection of them from Strife’s?) are Red.
Which seemed to have a lasting impression. But, one of the weirder things I think of when I think of anything to do surrounding Xephos’ eyes is one thing I am not entirely sure of- How much does Xephos know about it?
