@noodlesdoodlesandscribbles
when welcome to night vale said: “Sleep heavily and know that I am here with you. The past is gone, and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first, and settles in as the gentle present. This now, this us, we can cope with that. We can do this together you and I.”
*grown ass 18+ yo*: “XD”
me: how have you preserved your innocence like this, how have you managed to shield yourself from the overwhelming cruelty and sin of this world
This is reminder to check up on your own mental health.
OK thanks
Accurate.
Pointless LOTR headcanon of the day: Frodo & Merry both take after their mothers, meaning Frodo looks more like a Brandybuck than a Baggins and Merry looks more like a Took. This is a constant source of petty contention.
(Pippin meanwhile absolutely takes after his father & is the most Tookish looking)
Merry: call me a Took one more time
Gandalf: if it looks like a Took and acts like a Took it’s a Took
Merry: I will END you
Gandalf is the only nonhobbit in the fellowship who understands the minutiae of Took Vs Brandybuck Vs Baggins rivalry & he delights in it, everyone else baffled
Frodo: look it’s perfectly simple. The Brandybucks don’t like the Tooks because they play golf and think they’re better than everyone because they occasionally go on adventures. The Tooks don’t like the Brandybucks because they live on the wrong side of the river and like boats. And nobody likes the Bagginses because they’re annoying.
Aragorn: are you… Including yourself in that
Frodo: I said what I said.
Frodo: now the Bagginses don’t like the Brandybucks OR the Tooks because they’re highly disrepectable but also richer than they are. And as far as a lot of the Bagginses are concerned I’m a Brandybuck because I grew up in Buckland and I have the Brandybuck Profile
Merry: which just means he’s not pug-ugly
Frodo: quite.
Aragorn: this is all ridiculous. Keep going.
Gandalf: Hm now I wouldn’t say UGLY but… every Baggins I’ve ever met has been perfectly Round or perfectly Square… There is no middle ground.
Gimli, baffled: Frodo isn’t round OR square
Merry: that’s because he has the Brandybuck profile
Gimli: so… Is he a Brandybuck…
Merry: ABSOLUTE not
Frodo: slander!! I’m a Baggins how dare you
Pippin: was your father a Round Baggins or a Square Baggins
Frodo: my father… Was the ROUNDEST Baggins who ever lived… A perfect Sphere of hobbit…
this image is giving me a seizure
literally the fact that this is so blatantly the Star Trek logo with a goddamn Marvel-inspired “guardians of the galaxy” name and it’s purportedly the end result of “space professionals” consulting on the name for The United States’ Department of Defense. this is so much worse than every pre-Marvel film airforce/marines/targeted military ad where they try to tell you “be a real hero,” this is the inevitable end product of america’s military industrial complex swallowing the country’s mass media consumerist escapism whole in a horrifying self-devouring cycle a la Goya’s print of Saturn devouring his children. i amvibrating at a newly discovered frequency someone light me on fire

Meanwhile there’s Zuko with his Kardashian sized wardrobe
Fur, leather, and wool are good and sustainable clothing materials and if you think plastic is better you are dumb
“we all know why” just say it’s because they’re white. say it out loud with your whole entire chest. trump supporters aren’t being stopped from storming government buildings because THEY! ARE! ALL! WHITE! that’s it. just say it.
I don’t ever want to hear the phrase “white privilege doesn’t exist” ever again.
lmfao imagine if they reconvene after this entire clusterfuck and republicans continue objecting to the votes from every state biden won
holy fuck this was a joke but NPR just confirmed that they spoke with a republican senator who said theyd keep doinf exactly that. bring back tarring and feathering
It would be a real shame if instead of being covered by paint, which can be removed, bronze statues of racists were to come into contact with saltwater or tomatoes and be destroyed by irreversible bronze disease.

5 screenshots of 9 tweets from Madeline Odent, Twitter username @ oldenoughtosay
Tweet one says: “From an art conservation perspective, it’s honesty fine to throw paint on memorials of genocidal racists! Paint is pretty easy to clean off. What would be an absolute SHAME is if people were to throw certain common HOUSEHOLD ITEMS that can cause IRREVERSIBLE BRONZE DISEASE 1/n”. Attached to this tweet is a photo of a vandalized bronze statue with a red and white sack over its head with unreadable blue text.
Image 2:
Tweet two says: “Bronze disease happens when a copper alloyed artefact (for example most metal busts, plinths, and plaques, particularly Victorian era artefacts) comes in contact with chlorides, water and oxygen. It causes irreversible damage and is impossible to stop! 2/n”
Tweet three says: “What are chlorides? Well, google it, but suffice to be said, they can be found in household salt, seawater, and a few good products like tomatoes. They ‘activate’ in contact with polar solvents (inc water) (and are often found in conjunction of them, like passata) 3/n”
Tweet four says: “Once the chlorides have come in contact with the metal, they ‘stick’ and ‘spread’, we used to think bronze disease was caused by bacteria because it’ll spread from one part of an affected artefact to the whole thing and also anything touching it. 4/n”
Image 3:
Tweet five says: “Now, it’s extremely difficult to remove the chlorides once they’re on! It can be done, but the chemical needed is super carcinogenic, so, it rarely is. So, conservators usually ‘pause’ the disease by removing either moisture or oxygen using specialized storage. 5/n”
Tweet six says: “Of course, the artefact can’t really be on display, which is an absolute shame. Because, like, idk, if someone were to throw a ton of tomatoes at a bust of a genocidal racist, nobody would probably notice the chemical reaction until it was too late to save the artefact. 6/n”
Tweet seven says: “And this isn’t a ‘pretty’ deterioration either. The metal starts flaking off in this gross white fungus type thing- you’ve seen old coins dug up in a garden? Like that. I can’t think of any person with a memorial plaque on the wall of a building that deserves that. 7/n”
Image 4:
Tweet eight says: “And of course, once the damage is done, it can be paused or stopped, but it CAN’T be reversed. In 150 years, we haven’t found a way to restore artefacts that this happens to. Which is a shame since we all immediately forget history when statues are destroyed 8/8”
Image 5:
Tweet nine says “Y’all can stop DMing the museum to complain about me, like a) my boss thinks I’m funny, b) she also supports BLM, and c) I’m the one reading the DMs.”

Amazing how we’re watching a bunch of white, racist fucks, storm the capitol building of the United States over the fact that they can’t accept their loser of a President lost the election, is unfuckingbelivable. The transparency of minorities and people protesting for human rights and justice in the face of corruption, versus people are sore losers that can’t accept defeat and know they’re protected because they’re white Americans, could not be more apparent.
I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this but “we all respond to trauma in different ways, not just pretty palatable ways” and “we are accountable for our own actions, even actions born from trauma” are not contradictory statements
