Also the mirror having an image of Lishu’s mothers face is honestly precious, in a way it’s so she can’t forget what her mother looks like and how she looks exactly like her mother but as a younger version. Kanan is the only like good lady in waiting and even that’s a stretch from when we first saw her, but she’s starting to grow on me. Also scary Jinshi :3 it’s so funny that even Maomao thought he was scary when she was the first to traumatize those ladies in waiting.

CAT MAOMAO MADE AN APPEARANCE. I can’t believe Lingli named the cat after Maomao only because she represents the human Maomao, god I love our tiny cat queen (I say even tho I am also 5’0 like Maomao). Also I too would look at those new eunuchs, they’re fine as hell, especially the one who I feel like is related to that girl that faked her death in s1, I just don’t remember her name. He’s basically Jinshi in a different font and it’s so funny. Also poor Xiaolan :( she didn’t mean to bump into the guy carrying the ice she was excited to get a hair ornament (I can’t remember the exact name).

Books I read this month and rating

Dtbf 1-3

Vol 1 rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really liked how Li Yu was adjusting and accepting that he transmigrated and he got over the denial really quickly

Vol 2 rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really slow paced, but for obvious reasons because that was when they got together, I just couldn’t do it man 😭

Vol 3 rating: ♾️

THE BAOS FINALLY CAME I didn’t like how Li Yu hid it, but obviously he panicked since he didn’t know what to do

Read two books on the side waiting for vol 4’s release to come

It stuck to the story of Mulan, but she goes in as ping in the beginning to save Shen, I also just love Mulan’s actual story and the movie she’s one of my favorite princesses and part of my top three, second favorite after Tiana

Hot take, I found it boring, obviously it was interesting but it didn’t hold my attention the way I thought it would, though I did cry at the end, idk I just didn’t really enjoy this book

Ok, I did NOT fucking expect to learn Maomao didn’t understand emotions because she was left alone even when she would cry for hours on end. I feel so bad for her :( it’s understandable though, if a child is neglected when they show emotions they learn to suppress those emotions early in life, or learn to show only the desired emotion until behind closed doors. Also considering I haven’t read the manga or light novels yet I probably am finding this out after every one else.

The frog scene…..was something. Genuinely I liked how Jinshi wanted to tell Maomao but it was ruined from the scene, meanwhile Maomao figured it out then afterwards. And she thinks she angered Jinshi because she called his “frog” somewhat large, like I don’t think that was the reason he was mad. Though after she got that Ox Bozear my girl DID NOT care what so ever about what else he wanted to say. She really said “I got what I wanted!” Then was being happy about it while Jinshi was desperately banging on the door to tell her what he was going to before.

And some Gaoshun lore, he’s unironically my favorite character after Maomao and Jinshi. Basen is tied with Lihaku tbh because on one hand, Lihaku has a dog, on the other hand I’m very attracted to Basen. Also I love that Jinshi’s name translates to “moon prince” and that’s only because I’m a sucker for astrology and the moon 💔. I also like how Gaoshun takes accountability for somehow angering the empress dowager (even if we have yet to find out why), but I feel so bad for him because he has loyalty to Jinshi and has to hear how others feel about him.
