It’s sound impetus to remain aggregated enough to deal with tedious tasks.” He thumbed through papers again. “If you expect me to disregard your drinking habits for the sake of upholding the scolding nature of that tone, you are wrong. I’m not disregarding it, I’m taking it into full consideration.”
He exhaled and vigorously checked over a pile before him. “Several documents became damaged. Someone put replacements in the wrong order, so now I’m evaluating every batch for adequate numerical order and categorization.”
“Feistier while drinking as well I see.” A given exhale through the nose that could be taken as a humorous sound. Even if his face remains quite neutral. Oswald isn’t exactly about to start arguing, there is no point, especially when one crosses a walking brain with alcohol. “My drinking habits are my own, but do as I suggest, not as I do?”
Raising a brow, the crime lord comes to lean against the desk, hand pressed against the surface as support. Perhaps gentle jabbing and poor reconstructions of old sayings your parents would tell you was not the best way to continue the conversation. So a heavy sigh is what comes next while a free hand points to their work area, “Can I at least be of some assistance? Perhaps refill your drink or fix the piles of paper?”

The crime boss does not like interruptions, nor does he appreciate lingering. Whether done on purpose or not, Oswald finds himself rather annoyed and comes to glare in the general vicinity of the other. A quickly snapped, “Yes?” gets thrown out with contempt. He’s busy and feels as if being watched. It was simply unsettling. “Well? Out with it!”

“Yes, can I help you?” Gaze abandoning the work that sat in front of him in order to settle on the other. It isn’t rare that someone welcomes themselves or is sent to his office. Newly appointed captain position leads Jim to stop becoming so surprised, and sounds rather tired each time.

Edward poked around groups of oddly coordinated paper piles. Where there should have been disarray during the plans for their organization, there was only unorganized, organized stacks in rows. He pinched the bridge of his nose and knocked back a shot of whisky.
At the voice, he slowly turned his gaze to the doorway. “No, as a matter of fact, it’s not.” He smiled and laughed mechanically. “Why do you ask?“
Oswald stared, head cocked slightly as if it were to help him figure out the odd behavior. Of course the alcohol was most definitely the culprit, the crime lord not dismissing that for a moment. When not seeing this side of someone, however, it is hard to piece it together and think, yes indeed, this is the same man. It borders jarring and obnoxious, but Oswald settles on nodding with pursed lips as the initial response.
“Alright, do you want to tell me why, or are you going to keep drinking yourself into a bout of stupidity?”

“Aren’t you even a little bit concerned that you are going to go to jail for this if you don’t tell me the truth?” Question given as well as informative. He only wants a response that will get them both away from the situation as quick as possible. It’s hard for him to keep patience, though standing with crossed arms and a stern expression. “make it easy for us both and I’ll even let this one slip.”
