Corbeau having a gyarados on his team is such a good character detail because:

a. The game makes it clear he was a struggling young kid that Lysandre supported and saw potential in, and most people think magikarp is a joke and look down on it. He probably saw himself in magikarp and wanted to give it the same chance Lysandre gave him.

and

b. Poison types are mainly weak to ground types, and Corbeau is a clever man in a dangerous field that would want to cover for that weakness. What better Pokémon to supplement his team with than a water and flying type that’s not only immune to ground attacks, but is also strong against them? (Plus they’re also weak to psychic types and gyarados can learn several dark type moves)

Dawa, he's a shepherd and a ram. He protects his flock by headbutting and manhandling wolves off the hills bare handed. He has more muscle than he lets on. He's a very gentle and lax little fluffy man most days though. I like to think he has a cute rivals situation with the local wolf/coyote. Ainu are japanese first nations, He's more tibetan influenced than Ainu influenced tho
