Miraak who is so weak, who feels old and out of practice, whose body feels 200 times heavier on nirn. He cannot heal as fast as he wants to, his hands shake and he constantly feels tired, as if the world he was supposed to have is a heavy burden on his shoulders.

He's angry at himself for letting it get to this, he's angry because he couldn't get out himself, he's now in dept to this person that was supposed to kill him, the person who is helping him, who is offering him a place to stay, who wants to help him heal. The idea of relying on another person, any person but especially this one is not something his mind can process. He, despite everything, doesn't trust them. Even when they're offering to heal him, when they make him potions and salves, when they share their tea and bring him new books to read. He cannot allow himself to be comfortable, he is after all in dept. In dept for his life, for their life, the one they sacrificed to help him, the life they could have had if he never went after them.

Even when he's in such strong unrelenting pain, when he's gripping the edge of the table to get up, when his hands burn from relying on an old staff to support him, when his stitches reopen and there is blood running down his skin, he knows he will never be able to completely let them help.

My favorite dynamic of Miraak and LDB is like. Deeply upsetting for anyone else to observe in that they're Really Fucking Weird about each other. Like, matching each other's freak in ways that Deeply Disturb the public.
